Title: Twilight
Post by: AKcurly on May 09, 2001, 08:08:00 PM
I appreciate the technical beauty of night.  Hitech really did a nice job and as someone involved with computer science, I can understand the urge to share one's creation with others.

Twlight is equally cool.

Having said this, I can't see crap at twilight and if I'm stupid enough to get involved in a fight, yup, I usually fly into the ground.

I *ALWAYS* log at the onset of twilight.  Sometimes I do come back at dark -- it's very pretty and I can fly a buff.

I would be willing to increase my monthly tithe to Aces High if they would decrease the amount of time spent in twilight as we segue into darkness.

I like the ground, but hell, it's not fun pronging yourself nose first in the dirt.

I have same problem curly. I've augered numerous times in tight fight. I now log. No doudt it looks great but with my bad eyes and target fixation tendencies I just say no to night.

Night time and twilight are cool.  If you are having problems running into the ground, try doing this:  Maintain situational awareness.  Establish a hard deck of say 3000ft and don't go below it.

Why ask HTC to remove a cool feature just because you forget to check your altitude and surroundings?

I say: "Keep the night!"

The clip board needs it's own light source.

The IFR stuff only works if you have a good topographic map to navigate by  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I agree.  Think of it as an oppertunity to make the other guy eat dirt.

You guys are willing to give up the realism of day VFR fighters engaging each other in the middle of the night??????

I may die more often at night/twilight. But the fights I win I remember longer & enjoy more!

Think of it as a challenge that keeps AH from getting stale.

What really messes me up is flying over the ocean into a furball, getting my up's & downs reversed. I know twice I've splashed the bad guy & rolled inverted to grab alt. Pulled right into that ol blue ocean!   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

You guys just don't get the point here. The ones saying they want twilight reduced or removed don't like it. Therefore no one else should have it. Now get with the program! (pun intended) If you don't like something just deny everyone else the use of it!  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Kinda like denying people flying during the daylight because some think night-time is "cool" despite the fact that you are really just fighting icons?

I get it!  Do you?

S!

Night is same as Ju88 or Ar234 to me  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Fighting at twilight is pretty fun actually.Much easier to get maneuver kills. But it is imperative to keep a minimum alt U never ever go under unless in  critical situation...

Yeah Saw, I agree - buff time, but, low light before dark, dark, low light after dark is too much low light!  I don't want to fly buffs!   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Maybe a minute or two of twilight and 10 or 15 minutes of night.  Dark is too pretty to do away with it, but twilight doesn't do anything but make me log.

About denying anyone anything - hey, I didn't whine when they perked the F4U1c.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

They ought to make night longer, make day fighters unavailable and model airborne intercept radar and the Beaufighter, P-70, Bf-110g, P-61, etc. to carry it, and ground imaging radar for the big buffs.  A whole other aspect to the game, and a realistic use of night   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Yeah! What Saintaw said!. At the onset of twilight I go lookin' for the most likely base to get assulted by GV's. GV battles at night time tend to be slugfests at less than 2000 yards...great pucker factor!

Everyone views(opinions) are different - my kills and hit percentage nearly double at twilight.  Maybe because the fights are closer, maybe because I concentrate more, maybe because the other guys panics and doesn't think he can fight well.  So I agree with Ghost.

Now as for GV battles at night, I agree with SAW and MrLars.  I absolutely luv em.

The twilight and night time is awesome!  Give that up?  NO WAY!!  There's a light on in the cockpit and the artifical horizon is lighted.  I say establish a hard deck and live longer!  Don't be yankin' your stick around like Quake.  Watch your gauges and don't get vertigo......It's really cool to turn out the lights in the room at twilight/night too.  Those little beads of sweat appear on your forehead.....Cool!!

I believe AK was suggesting the timing of dusk / night / dawn be altered not to remove night completely.
Keep the night if the overall period remained the same but we had a longer night period and shorter transitions i can live with that.
Personally i think the transition periods are great but i guess some people may be having hardware related problems with it.
1 trick though try either switch off lights or hang a black out curtain  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) it makes viewing much easier but damn that clipboard nearly blinds you !
