Oh man this is worse than I thought. I just watched that little fight on the news.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH Berlusconi OWNED that German socialist moron.

He actually said something along the lines of:
I think you would fit the role as nazi concentration camp commendant and traitor perfectly.

To say stuff like that to German politicians are generally a big no-no... the German guy looked like he was about to swallow his tounge when he got the translation...

OWNED

Yes, Berlusconi. The man who changed Italian law to escape prosecution. A crook and a disgrace, making himself look a fool on the world stage by calling a man not even born in WW2 a Nazi. Italy must be so proud.

Calling a man not born in WW2 a nazi is not unusual.   The Germans do it with Boosh all the time.

Anyway, he didn't call him a nazi, he said he looked like a he could play a Kapo in a movie.

We're talking about the Italian Prime Minister, Berlusconi calling someone a Nazi. You say that Germans do it all the time in relation to Bush. I'm saying that is irrelevant in this case. I'm saying that the German equivalent to Berlusconi, Schroeder, has not to my knowledge ever called Bush a Nazi.

Therefore your assertion is irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

A Kapo is not a Nazi.

Saying someone would make a good Kapo in a film is not calling him a Nazi.

Schroeder is not even involved in this story in any way.

Other than that, I agree with you completely, this is an outrage.

Berlusconi said:

"I know that in Italy, there is a man producing a film on Nazi concentration camps - I shall put you forward for the part of guard."

Ra said:

"Saying someone would make a good Kapo in a film is not calling him a Nazi."

lol Talk about semantics. You're saying a Nazi concentration camp guard is not a Nazi!? What is he then? A lost scout leader? A confused traffic warden? A terminally misguided Samaritan?

You don't get it ra. Berlusconi is not in a position to go around calling people Nazis. You say some Germans call Bush a Nazi as some kind of weird justification. I say to equate to what Berlusconi has done, it would have to be Schroeder himself who is doing the trash talking - something I have not yet seen.

A Kapo is a prisoner who has been appointed as an enforcer by the guards.

Berlusconi just shot back at a loud mouthed socialist politician, the type of things politicians do all the time.

You are the one who said it is stupid to call someone a Nazi who wasn't around in WWII, I just pointed out it happens all the time.

Why did you edit 'Kapo' to 'guard'?  Maybe someday your dream will come true and it will be a crime to take a poke at a socialist.

Dowding for f*cks sake, remove whatever it is you have shoved up the kazoo.

That German socialist was being provocative and was asking something about how Berlusconi could run the EU when he was a criminal or something like that.

He just got what he had coming, and that comment is funny as hell.

WTF are you talking about? I didn't edit anything - I just added your comment alongside Berlusconi's, which was the first thing I quoted (taken from here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3037386.stm)).

I couldn't care less who takes a poke at who. But I dislike high profile crooks more than I dislike faceless socialists.

Berlusconi is a moron. German politicans who compared US politicans with nazis have been retired.
That in ur point of view Hortlund the cause of this ugly "joke" was the valid comment of Mr. Schulz and that for u Hortlund this kind of humor is funny is no wonder. Maybe u should talk to someone who has been caged in a KZ I'm sure he likes the talk of Berlusconi too.

Sorry, I have a *real* hard time trying to conjure up some sympathy for that German socialist EU Parlament guy. First because he is a German Socialist, second because he was deliberately provoking Berlusconi. He got what he had coming, and what did he do? Run crying to the press naturally...

Berlusconi is the real Capo.... "della Mafia". If he ever steps into Spain after ending his term, he's going to get busted very fast, lots of shady bussinesses done here.

BTW, he was speaking Italian so I bet  he said "Capo" (Boss) of a concentration camp not "Kapo". Fine coming form a guy know to have been "in bed" with the italian neofascists to a Social Democrat. Maybe you have to be a real Nazi yourself to get to insult others with that word and get away with it.

What a fine example of a honest statesman, pushing laws that make OK the same crimes he is being prosecuted for.

Here's the quote from the article from the first post:

"I know there is a man producing a film on the Nazi concentration camps," Mr Berlusconi said, "I shall put you forward for the role of Kapo (guard chosen from among the prisoners) - you'd be perfect."

I prefer crooks to socialists, easily.  One can be a crook without being a socialist, but not vice versa.

For the record...there were remarks from members of the German government comparing President Bush to Hitler.

If you didn't see that in the German papers, then press-wise you truly are re-living 1932-1939.

Duedel, lets just say that the combination of Socialist and German doesnt really impress me that much after 9-11. Irregardless of whether the socialist wants to call himself "socialist" or "social democrat". True, per definition it should be a difference, but my experience with socialists and social democrats (we have lots of those in Sweden you know) is that there really aint that big a difference.

As for your insults. *shrugs* if it makes you feel better, keep em coming...

Thanks Takeda. It would seem he did mean Nazi camp guard, at the very least. It didn't make sense that he would choose a Jewish prisoner/guard as his 'insult'.

The guy is still a crook and a salamander. Even though he has a nice house, Curval. ;)

He used the term "Kapò", that usually define one of the prisoners chosen as supplementary guard in the barrack.

Anyway here is an insult, as some italian jew has been in german's KC.

Berlusconi is NOT mafia boss, but is actively using is power to "ease up" the pressure posed on the mafia in the past years, thus gaining votes in the southern Italy, the high percentage of votes controlled by mafia, formerly given to Democratic Christians, a center party that governed Italy in the past 50 years.

Anyway, I have little sympaty for him.

No surprise here in Italy; we all expected some craps from Mr Berlusca; its not his first nor will be his last one.
We all know he is a "political parvenue" ,a man who made his fortune selling washing-machine, maybe a good manager but a terribly arrogant person with little political culture.
A man who thinks Italy (and Europe maybe) has to be managed like an his own factory....
Good for EU he will stay in charge for only six month, here in Italy we'll have to wait other three years (plus the two just  gone) before we can try to fire him out.
But , you know how we  say  here "we (not all) wanted that bicycle, and now we have to pedal"
