Title: Women in AH
Post by: Smiggyy on July 03, 2003, 09:32:51 AM
Gotta admit guys that I'm suffering from female withdrawal symtoms in AH.

Are there any out there??

USAgirl is one that springs to mind, but not 100% on that one!!

Are there any more in the zone???

I'm getting that bad I'm starting to fantasise about the sheep as I roll past em in my GV!!
Or is this purely cos I've been flyin with JOC for too long!!

Smiggyy out!

Yes there are quite a few of us in AH and the numbers are growing all the time.  Off the top of my head there is esme, stink1, titibits (used to be Driag which I personally preferred! :) ), Dyana, LPN (Kimberly) - probably more that I can't think of at the moment - oh and Athena who has already posted above.

As for "squeaking on channel 1", I can honestly say I have never done so myself, and I don't recall ever seeing any of the other female players do so either.  :p

many of the female virtual pilots probably keep their gender a non-topic so they can concentrate on playing instead of fielding uh... 'comments'   :)

Just noticed your location, Smiggyy - I actually come from the Teesside area, living at the other end of the famous Railway (Stockton on Tees) until 24 years ago when we moved over to Ulverston in the North West.  I still get over there fairly often as my husband (Zeb) and I still have family in the area.  :)

Face it guys, girls just dont find computer games  interesting. Especially a WW2 flight sim. Infact you can have games with the most amazing gameplay and graphics and they still play Solitaire. (whats with that?)

Of course my ex use to love PS2 and she was actually pretty good in the driving games which was cool.  But anything on the comptuer and she only plays... Yip Solitaire.

My girlfriend, sits in on occasion and enjoys listening in to everyone chatting away and speak on vox (finds the accents fun) she finds Texas accents dead sexy (concho) but that's as far as her interest goes.

As for not shooting down USAGIRL's last bomber out a formation. What a softcock. I bet she would of shot down your last bomber and your chute as well for good measure. Why treat her or any of the girls. Well her and Flossy are the only ones I know of any differently?

As for Flossy, being Rook I've never really chatted with her, but agree she is a good sort and wish we had more girls in the MA to liven things up a bit.

Though I wonder what would happen to the banter on Channel 1.
Would it become more civil with all the loveless guys trying to impress. Or would the whining just increase?  :)

Hehe.... careful, that's how I got started!  Originally, I started watching Zeb when he was online after he told me he was about to join a squad and at first I was happy just listening to the vox chat.  I always liked Vulch's (our current Krait Squadron CO) voice on vox.....  LOL.  :D

Nope, I don't expect to be treated any differently, though I do notice that squaddies and fellow countrymen do tend to be protective sometimes.  :)

Gixer,
The AirMegs XO is a very cool lady,  and she was one of my top officers in the Midway scenario.   She aways flys Rook.

Im glad there are a few of the Fairer sex flying,  and I do wish we had more.    Its a pleasure have them around.

Some of them keep there identity a bit under wraps to avoid all those private messages  "Are you Hot?"

There are some that arnt flying currently,  DB from our squad is one.  Another many know is Dawn of the GroveRats.  She was pretty big in Events in AW.

Lets not forget Mandie,  I have no Idea if she was a girl or not, but the comunity seemed pretty hard on her.   I dont blame her for pulling out.

Lets hope the future brings more "Females flying for Fun"  to AH

I would think the same thing. I mean, I'm not here for a date so who cares if AH has femz or not. More power to em but gender and my gaming goodness have nothing to do with each other.

btw.....there's enough net weirdos around to wanna keep your gender quiet anyway. I think if I wuz a broad playin a game full of swingin d's I'd keep it to myself too. Not that any of you are weird but in the end it's really none of your business and doesnt affect the outcome of the game. ;)

some of you probably remember the saga of mandie. i met her in the ta when i first started and she really helped me with the basics. we flew together quite a bit. we eventually joined her brother spiegel's squad, the 106th (which i am still a part of). going to the ma to wing up was a bit of a hassle. as soon as she entered the cat calls started. most were good natured, the same xxxooo that flossy gets. some were down right crude. the perpatrators of the uncalled for behavior were usually not vets, but 2 week bananas. anyone who made lude comments to her should really be ashamed. why? BECAUSE SHE WAS ONLY 15 YEARS OLD YOU FREAKIN PERVS!!! it finally got so bad she just quit. i miss my friend mandie, but we still keep in touch. she is a regular of "anarchy online" now. my advice to any ladies flying is to have thick skin or keep your gender concealed, as it only leads to childish behavior. this community lost a good pilot due to it.

keep em zipped fellers, your mouth and your flys.

I whish we have a female pilot in our squad.

I would help her into the plane.I would drag the cons for her for easy shooting. And i would duel every dirty dick which tries to say something impolite.

Ladies! Join the Abbeville Kids. A dozen helping hands would carry you through the furball.

Kanth was Knight, right?  I'm pretty sure I used to see that screen name a lot.  I never knew she is female.  I guess I just never thought about it.  Her voice didn't seem a give away.

Ever sine my first week when someone befriended me in the MA (and who had a direct result in which squadron I applied for) named Darling and who I later found out was male, I just don't assume anything anymore.

Lasz,

i was just in a silly mood, and threw in a bit monkeyfood.
You shouldnt bite in every rotten bone.

Besides that, its always funny to read that unadulty machismo inspired blabla in the gamechat which is produced by socalled adults which forget that they are NOT sitting in their livingroom.
They let down their virtual trousers and allow the whole community to have a look at their skidmarked panties.

If these guys would have a female squaddie, i am shure they would think twice before typing.
And for that, i would appreciate a higher amount of women in the game.

I doubt that flightsim women are much flattered by that implied comparison.  The one's I've known have definitely been carnivorous, 2000hp-riding, nitrous-burning killers with the burning desire to ram multiple explosive projectiles up your butt.  Nothing ovine about them at all.

Damn, that makes me miss Submission ("Subby") from AW.  What happened to her?
