I really enjoy this map. HUGE furballs, often at low level. Canyon fights. Combined arms battles. Target-rich environment. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
And there is plenty of high-level action because flight times to strategic targets are short - so HQ raids are more fun.
The only downside is that it makes the Ostwind (and its armor modeling problems) more prominent. But I've found that 500 lb bombs and 75 mm AP rounds tend to discourage the Ostdweebs. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I just love rolling a panzer and busting up ground assault.
So many osties, so little time (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
I have to admit tho, the spawn points are a little *too* close. Without a few good tankers around, a field can eventually be overwhelmed by endless respawners.

neatly balances the tons of non vapid critacal posts lol. and really a whos who of the appologists. gameplay is terribly unblalanced , the terrain is not good at all judging by the multiple posts on the alter ego of this post ( or one of 10 ). but shouting positive things probly makes you feel better ?
GREAT FUN!!

Towd why are you always negative these days?
-
Well, I find this terrain a little crowded... but the one good thing is there's plenty of vehicles on the ground, which means plenty of EZ targets (http://www1.jump.net/~cs3/001208/04firing.jpg) (27k image). (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

When has TOWD ever been positive??
I had a blast at A24 andA23 last night with the ROOKs armoured force battles.

Give us this map but in a much grander size and move them spawn points back a tad and it would be great!
Oh yeah and don't forget to add the navy with the fleets in sight of each other, in a small pond about 1 sector in size in ze middle.
All kidding aside my initial statement outlines my thoughts on this beta thing.

I don't like the map. yesterday I was looking for a place not too crowded with my wingman Nomde for some tactic work and we end up having the choice between the 30 plane fight of the south or the 30 plane fight of the NW.
Miserable, but I like the layout, just need more distances to avoid seeing getting killed by the guy you just killed, or an endless supply of incoming eni fighter.

Towd WTF are you talking about? I like the map. I'm allowed to say that.
Complaining is fine. Just keep to the subject at hand (the game) instead of harrasing the other players.

Sancho - that is a great pic! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
What were u in to take it, and have you got anymore?
-
Wow that is a great pic. I love those battles where a constant stream of ground vehicles comes toward the airfield. Take off, bomb/rocket/strafe the snot of them, reload, repeat. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Thanks. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I was in that P-47D-30. Got the pic from film later. For more, see here:

That was Friday night. Bishops were on a roll, taking field after field. Of course, there were something like 55 bish to 30 knights or something like that. It was awesome diving in, rocketing the tank, and screaming out through the smoke from a burning hangar at 500mph on the deck. Flew over the friendly armored column charging into the field... they'd have one less panzer to worry about. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I can definitely sympathize with this point. It is possible to go in and get kills in a 30 plane furball though. You just have to be extremely careful... set hard deck limit and adhere to it. Leave a guy high for cover. 56th flew a sweep into one such furball last night where we were severely outnumbered, but we scored 2 kills, 3 assists, and all rtb'd safely.
You've definitely got to be a lot choosier picking your fights in this terrain. I'll be happier when we go back to a terrain where the fields are more spread out, but it is possible to have fun here and develop tactics.

I did not think I would like the beta terrain at first but it provided for more diverse play and it was easier to use all the ground vehicle types. I think the "canyon lands" should be made a permanent part of the main arena, but not overwhelming in size. I liked hugging the canyon walls next to a vbase in the M16 to catch the unweary. Diversity is the key to more fun.

Right on BB. Nothing like draggin an nme over a Vbase in a canyon where a friendly ostie is hiding...

Canyons rock!!!
Last night I had an Ostwind shooting at my Spit. So I climbed away at 10,000 feet and went out of sight... Then dove behind a mountain, got into the canyon, and came back at him NOE from the opposite direction at about 400 mph. He never saw me. The first thing he heard or saw was my 20 mm blowing his turret to hell. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
