nice to see ya coming back. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
same old same old, but make sure you get a copy of speed.zip from one of the
game sites.
you'll need it to keep a fair playing field and counter other players usin
it, especially in head to head.
What is this Speed.zip? wtf? I am confused.

AirWarrior just patched last week to negate this little cheat progie. I hope HTC is working on it.
It goes by a few different names, but basically it creates a controlled warp on demand by screwing with the packets to the server. It's been around for some time in Quake and some games like Asheron's Call. It can be locked out.

Not quite true. In this plane of physical being, Dingy arse has the most matter. StSanta does come close however.
What gives StSanta the advantage is the Fw190D-9.
Dingy achieved the state of "infinate ass" (a play on the concept of infinate mass, after exceding the speed of light, I know it's corny but I got the Nobel Prize in assology for this, so I can call it whatever the heck I want) through breaking through the speed of light in a P-51D Mustang. Mass is rather irrelevant after that point, only speed matters. Since the D9 is faster, it is logical to assume the excessive speeds past the point of "infinate ass" would lead to more gravitational pull.
This can only be determined however, if both are in those respective planes and in the propper conditions to achieve the state of, or execedeing the phase known as "infinate ass"

Jigster, your hypothesis is a fine one, and this is quite a compliment coming straught from the mouth of a natural phenomenon such as me.
But it neglects that I do not fly the 190D9 "Huntstang", mostly because I feel the guns on that thing aren't properly equipped with anti-ass generators.
The 109G10 has a very small cockpit which acts as a natural ass-inhibitor, and is thus better suited for gunning, with the drawback of having less ass-induced speed.
Looking forward to seeing a modification to your Infinite-Ass theory (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Hmm that does change a few things.
Given the diving limitations of the 109G10 I ponder how the state of infinate bellybutton is thus achieved.
I must spend some time calculating this.
As an offhanded guess, I would assume that the posterior end hangs through an open hole in the floor of the cockpit. It is a well known fact that an arse of any great size would never fit the confines of that cockpit. Given the nature aerodynamic shape of large cellulite orbs, the air resistance would be minimum. The propulsion to achieve the state must thus come from an anal explosion, possibly put in motion by a strict diet of C-stoff and T-stoff.

current version still works fine in AW plus WB and everything else I've seen (including WWIIOL).
it's not a big secret and very common in gamer circles.
written by a chinese programmer and is regularly updated to work around and patches from game vendors. stuff like this will always be around.
doesn't touch program code or modify server packets but permits complete control over player's computer game clock. can be set for 1.4 up to 22 plus. as a result, can be classed as a cheat more than a hack.
certainly spoils any game when on receiving end of guys using it and there's a lot of them on here now. as a result, i no longer view score stats in any on-line game as valid. i just play game for fun and walk away to a different game when i see the uber plane girations from guys using it. if i really get upset with some donkey using it, then i activate it on my end and dish out some of his own medicine. it's fun to watch them start hollering cheat, then they usually log off. hehehe

current version still works fine in AW.....
Interesting. Have you tried it since they patched AW against it (26 April)? I had hoped that they had found a way to nip it in the bud (and had hoped HTC would be able to do the same).
I was a bit skeptical when Mage announced that they had updated the AW client against speedgear (when I read that Microsoft has yet to find a way to prevent it in their online games).
I'm like you in that, I pretty much blow off any score/rank I see these days. It's too bad....some of the pilots have earned it but far too many are flying with a "boost" even if it is "just to even the playing field".

Hmmmm...got film?
If not....go away!
-
Lol, the people who demand to see proof or films of every claim crack me up.
I have lived on the coast all my life.
I have yet to see a baby seagull.
Yet, I do not challenge their existance.
If you get out and read a few other forums sometimes, you might better keep up with current gaming events.
For what it's worth, I just did a search and found four sites offering the cheat (and no, I think it would be in poor taste to post the sites here).
There is enough proof that it exists if you look elsewhere.

Basically, it was an update to the client to disallow the use of third party
applications that may have had an effect on gameplay when used in
conjunction with Air Warrior.

From an Asheron's Lore:
Subject: RE: What is GEAR? what does it do?
posted 5/7/2001 6:44:50 AM
1. What is Gear
A: Gear is an app designed to trick the server into thinking you are running on a very slow machine.
2. What does it do?
A: Gear plays around with your system clock, and tricks the AC server into thinking you are running a very slow machine.
3. Who uses it?
A: The same people who download hex editors for all the games that don't have cheat codes. Basicly anyone who just wants to get the reward without working for it.
4. Why do they use it?
A: No one answer, ranges from being picked on in school, to just being born an ass.
5. Where are these people getting it
A: Through blacknet pages, and through direct transfer
6. Who makes it?
A: Unknown at this time, and if it was, he'd probably be in court right now...
The Story: This is a bad news program, don't download it! Players who use Gear move very fast, cast very fast, attack very fast, and get banned really fast. Don't use it, and if you see someone who is lvl 1 but runs like they are on speed, file an abuse report. If someone sends it to you, report them. This
program ruins the game, and the devs need your help to stop it.
-GEAR is indeed a program that messes with the clock speed on your CPU. As I am not that much of a tech head I can't tell you how exactly from a programming side it works. It's been out for quite awhile from what I read, but mainly came to the fore from use in Half-Life.
-To find GEAR, hmmm. "Blacknet pages" Uh, ok. I won't give out the addresses either of where I found this program but I also found it within a few minutes. I feel that if you're going to have a hobby, at least read up on it. (Even if you're a HexEditor-downloading-cheater.) If you have any sort of bookmarks regarding AC you can eventually find it. I personally have 3 sites marked that offer it. Not the source page as its written in I *think* Korean, but working
non-virus copies.
-"Does it hurt my comp?" GEAR as I mentioned has no instructions and appears all in another language. It has a slide bar that indicates "left" for slower and "right" for faster. It has 16(?) notches on it. If you slide it to the max right and let AC rip, you will move so fast you can't even follow yourself. (Trust me) One would surmise the faster/farther you overclock your system the more harm you are doing to it's durabilty, etc. Just like over clocking your system manually I suppose. I use a setting of "2 right" and I'm plenty fast enough for what I do.

Close Jig, but unfortunately, even phenomenal tulips like those of Santa and myself suffer from a little bit of E-Bleed due to creation of high pressure vortexes resulting from imperfections in cellulite placement. These can be somewhat offset by grinding down these masses similar to the way Johnston polished the rivets on his P-47 to reduce drag.
I would imagine the Luftwaffe have learned these lessons in their own right so that Santa's bellybutton is polished too. Dont even want to think whos responsibility that job is!

hehehe.... true.
it's not sling's fault though.
there's a few more like him here who live in the dark cause ... hmmm... enough said. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
you're right, there's a real world out there if they come up for air to see it once and while.
thanks for the info Thirdup.
the build I have is 28 Jan and it worked just fine 2 days ago.
sad stuff to be floating around and tough to patch against as MS has found, cause of the network clock timing needed by all these online games.

Hey Checksix.....take the shades off ya dweeb.
I never said that hacks and cheats dont exist....I am merely pointing out that the way to deal with them is to film it and send it in to HTC and let them take care of it. Bringing it here to the BBS or ranting about it on the open channel does nothing to help. All that does is start flame wars or arguments. If you think someone is cheating...its real simple, hit alt+r on your keyboard and start the film. Then email it to Pyro. I have done this myself on several occassions when I have suspected something weird going on.
-
hey sling.... catch up with the real world and knock off the kiddie insults. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
no need to send film since all of the online game companies like ah have the program now. apparently you're the only one who doesn't. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
thirdup tried to explain it to you but you and others still don't want to face the truth that some people need to cheat to enjoy the game.
it's sad but its reality.
btw i keep the shades on cause of message board stalkers like you. this place is like kindergarten most of the time. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

sure there's a reason to send in film. Until HT can work a fix to block the speed cheat from working, banning users of the cheat is the best course of action. Films are the best way to document the cheating.
Those people that feel they HAVE to cheat to enjoy the game do not need to be playing the game in the first place. If they don't enjoy the game as it is, then they should pocket their $30/month and go play something else, such as an offline game where cheating doesn't affect anyone else's gameplay/fun.
And as for the kindergarten feel of the boards, are you helping to curb it or perpetuate it? Take an honest look at how and what you post.
-
nah they'll let the cheaters stay with their cheats and money unless they question the staff of HTC then they'll get lynched but in the mean time expect more cheating warps and more incarnations of the speed file.
I was approached once by a new guy who's last part ends in a 28 who was trying to lure me into using this program he called me up in private and was pushing for me to use it which I replied my PC is quite fast for any more of that crap. Expect more of it.
-
Maybe the difference between me and you Checksix is that I am not gonna let the possibility of a few hackers who may or may not be in the MA ruin my fun. Thats right...I said "fun." Running around posting all this crap on the BBS about the rampant use of hacks in AH is certainly not the way to deal with it. I am confident that if HTC knows about the problem and there is a way to fix it, then it will be done. Until that time, I will continue to record things that dont look quite right and if I cant explain them I will be sending the film in to Pyro to let him take a look at it.
As I said before, I dont deny or doubt the fact that hacks or cheats may be out there. If someone out there feels the need to hack the game or cheat in some way in order to get an edge on others then that same someone probably feels the need to hide behind a fake BBS name also.....but thats just my opinion. People who use that crap must have their brain on a messed up moral clock - as I see it they screw with the product I buy (theft/vandalism) and should be treated accordingly.
Oh, and welcome back Wegaman (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
