Speaking of team play, and trying to get involvment in missions, perhaps a system of awarding perks (upon return to base) based on the percentage of friendly bombers, fighters, that returnd with you upon the completion of a particular mission.... i.e. you are a fighter sent on a mission to protect a bomber stream,if you land you recieve points based on nme kills,BUT, if you return with,,,lets say at least 90% of your friendly bombers you recieve a bonus perk of some sort. Mabey a reward system would lend a hand.
Oh and as far as deciding the lineir battle fronts current position,
in real life its up to the ground forces to take and hold ground, mabey the allready segmented map could be further chopped up into,, lets say 1 mile squares, and to take and hold ground a vehicle or infantry man must move into that area to take it, but if the friendly number of forces drops bellow the nme,s current number on the same ground, then that a.i. would reward that area to the nme, or if the square is occupide by both teams the square would be "held in contention" This of course would allow one blithering moron to take miles and miles of uncontended land, but he could never hold it. The front would be in almost constant motion but so was the front in ww2. YOU DIG?
