Title: Terminator 3... anyone else see it?
Post by: Mini D on July 08, 2003, 03:55:20 PM
Thought it had its moments, but was way too contrived.  Overall, I'd give it a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10.

I agree. Better than Matrix 2, but still 4 out of 10 at most.

I thought it was entertaining, and kind of dark like the first one.  Any movie which ends in the extermination of 90% of the earth's population gets two thumbs up from me.

I'll see it and enjoy it.  I will, of course, be checking my brain at the door tho'.  Just good clean robot/cyborg killin' fun.  And thank Jebus that Ed Furlong ain't in it.

I agree with (gasp) SOB about disconnecting the brain and enjoying the fun..can't expect much from summer 'blockbusters'.

I give it a 5.759328.   Slightly better than average.

It was T2 all over again, just with a way better built (read sexier) killer cyborg and a different ending, which was pretty cool since I'd recently toured a missle silo and have driven through much of the rural areas spotting silos!.  (My Dad was a Titan missle launch officer during the Cuban Missle Crisis.)  If it ever happens, that's what it's going to look like, mega death missles rising out of pastoral beauty.  Very cool imagery there!  Better than The Day After even!

But I was disappointed because I expected more of the hard sci fi machine battle to develop.  That will be cool I think.  That's probably on tap for T4, T5, T...........

And they gotta get a better lookin chick for John Conner or they won't keep my interest!

I sure hope they make the sequels soon as Arnold is getting purty long in the tooth!

:D

I liked the very end of it.  Was pretty cool watching a "live" version of the computer screens from Wargames.

Connor explains it in the end.
There is not central location for Skynet. It spread through the cybernet. Its a distributed network, sort of like a very advanced Seti@Home.

Cc, the gals air force pop sent em to that musky old cold war bunker in an effort to save em from the shroom blasts.  Wasnt likely to be on the skynet target list Im guessing........

Clair Daines (spelling?) was actually nice for the part.  Cute but in a working class sort of way.

My only real complaint is the wimp they got to play John Connor.  This is they guy that will save the world?

Actually the ephemeral existance is "sky net" is a concept at least in part borrowed from Adam's joke tongue in cheek sci-fi novels, Hithchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, etc.  In the end, he describes the ultimate computer as existing in the cosmos, made up of stellar gases and such.  When asked what is the answer to life, the universe and everything, it came up with the answer, "42".

LOL!

It was Arnold's cowtow to the Hollywood liberal wacko controlled movie machine which requires that no hero can actually have any kahoonas and kick some serious butt in order to save civilization.  Don't you know that John C.  will hug his way through the machine wars!

Sheesh! Haven't they seen Battle Star Galactica to know the horrible mistake of being nice to machines! ;)

I've just finished downloading it from Kazaa (skuzzy hates kazaa - lol), and will watch it later on.

PS. I would not have paid to go and see it, so I don't feel bad about the free viewing.

i liked it, suprised none of you mentioned the way the woman terminator was killed.  In all the other terminator films they justified how the terminator was terminated, this one i thought was a bit shoddy.

I was really surprised by the movie. I went in thinking it was going to be aufull. and was surprisingly good.
Loved watching the robots destroy mankind:D

I've just started the movie part way in - to check on the .AVI file quality - looks good. I came in at the scene where there's a black kid playing baseball, and he collapses and has to be helped... will watch the whole thing later.

I greatly enjoyed T2, never saw T1.

not a bad movie, but not as good as the first or the second.
IMO the first was the best of the series. Really scary.

I have it on DVD for who ever really loved it.

I stoped watching at the car chase. The idea of a robot controling cars stoped me right there. I understand everything electric, like remote starting the car, but turning the wheel, it's still mechanical.

Matrix2, it was cripling the caddy with bullets and none got injured.:o

I guess I'm getting too old to watch those "fabricated high sensation" movies, and reverted to a more "realistic" feel for action.:(

Not great, but still very good in my book.

Love to see the overall plot of the terminator movies unfolding.  I can't wait for the sequels (4,5,6,7,8....) just to get more of the story.
