Title: Actually had the urge to play....
Post by: Yeager on July 08, 2003, 10:11:11 PM
this damned game for the first time in a few weeks.  So I take my walk, have dinner and a beer, log on and at 7:30pm pacific PRIME TIME.....

Yes, the sun in the MA had just set behind the horizon.  Played in the milky red stuff for half an hour and logged off totally unenthused.  Hell, it hadnt even gotten to the stinky black ink and that stuff is an absolute waste of time.  Not even worth a free game IMO.

It will probably be another two weeks before Im tempted to actually play this game again.

I think the time is ripe for a cancellation, unfortunatley.  Cant remember when the last update was (9 months ago?  a year ago?  when the hell was it?).  Folks I play with are just plain tired and HTC is so buzy with AH2 vaporware (remember those screenshots) that AH1 has become a relic without a cause.

Id say the HTC folks need to get on with it here pretty quick.  Im sure your AH2 will be "the deal".  Needless to say your about to lose this subscription pretty quick just out of sheer frustrated Boredom.

But whatever..........

for the LOVE OF GOD.  Make the game playable for me.  Kill the twilight crap or at least speed it up to a 5 or 10 minute elapse between good decent daylight.  And scrap the night altogether.

It sucks.

I agree, the game has lost it's fun factor, I haven't played in long while prolly 4 weeks.  Everyonce in awhile I will poke my head in the DA, not much fun to me otherwise.

Its the same with Quake,,, go figure.

Its the "gaming" of the game that makes it boring, the suicide queens the perfect game boards the fly die fly die stuff.

Lets face it vulchig is fun, sometimes suiciding is fun but after doing either one 2-3 times its just boring and when you log off the game because you're bored you really don't feel like logging on again.

Yeager I agree the twilight nite thing sucks. But...

Don't tell anyone I told you this but this week there is a "sweet" matchup in the CT.

Zekes, P40's and Hurri's.

A few sorties in there with those planes. Chitty guns with ALOT of flyin followed by a KILLER canasta card game and bingo.

Put a smile on my face..

Good old fashioned fights.

But if you tell anyone I told you, I'll deny it..

Its better to burrrrrn out, than to fade awaaaaayyyyyy!

......

what he said

personally, I can't see how anyone but a newbie can handle more than 30 minutes in MA these days - reminds me of the old FFA room in FA 1.0. Sad that good/experienced sticks buzz around killing seals who don't even know how to set their views let alone have developed any SA or ACM's.

to each his own ....

ps

night should be eliminated or cut to about 5 minutes, another good thing about CT nite usually doesn't exist at all in there depending on the setup.

I agree that night should be scaled back to 5-10 minutes....But what is really missing for me in AH is..

1)Each nation that fought in WW2 should have at least 1 fighter,1 bomber,1 tank,1 recon vehicle and1 vehicle/Aircraft troop transport.

To me,considering the number of pilots we have from different countries,AH has not covered all the bases.

The best thing about Ah gameplay is their CV's....Add more of them plez!!!!

The only reason i leave my accoutn open are scenarios. MA and the hole setup is a waste of time and money. Scenarios and the work around as a XO keeps me active. It was fun in the MA but i get sick after 15 minutes in game. Ill wait for AH2 before i decide if i cancel my account completly.

That's why I've taken to flying the clown-tailed Ki-61.  It gets no respect and is fightable against most planes if (a) you've flown a 109, (b) you know the weapon ballistics, and (c) you realize that the Ki-61 is a screamer on a downhill run.  You can get a lot of perk points in a short amount of time with it.  I figure the Spitfire IX, N1K2, LA-7, and P-51D are crutches for the new guys.  A real pilot flies the Spitfire V, Yak9U, 109G10, P-51B, FW190A(x).  The really good pilots fly the P-40E, Ki-61, 109F, and F4U-1.

I used to complain about the night, and then I learned that the F4U-1D has this big plate glass gunsight that acts like a IR scope.  Same with the M16 assault vehicle.  Embrace the darkness!

Assuming you are not due an equipment upgrade, setting up your monitor correctly does wonders.

Same fo rme last night....got some time to fly...sun goes down.

I can't really believe that the majority of players prefer darkness in the MA.

Friday night Squad Ops is the only thing keeping me in AH right now.   I fly that, and then the CT immediately after until I get tired or the fights start getting scarce.  I just don't have the desire to fly anymore than that.

Not sure how much longer I can justify that vs the $15/month.

I see....so we download a program so that we can adjust the gamma to make night look like day.

I can think of another way...GET RID OF NIGHT. Clearly it is pointless.

Hey Curval,

Pups available out of Charlie's (my old chocolate) son, Chief. I posted picture of Chief a while ago.

Blacks and Chocolates, very reasonable price. A friend of mine needed a stud for his very small Chocolate female. Her breeding is nothing famous but her size is excellent and her personality is very calm and reserved.

I think these pups will be very nice adult dogs.

Just letting you know.

Heya drex!

You still flyin, or just lurkin' the boards?

Headin' up to Vancouver tonight to see -prop- and -poog- for dinner - I'll say hi for ya.

As for the rest of this thread....

I think the big thing is, most of us who are tired of this (this being MMOL flight simming) have done it for so long, everything has a "been there, done that" feel to it, and we're looking for something different.  At over 6 years in WB - I admit I fly a LOT less than I used to, but its still a nice getaway once or twice a week.  And many of us have made many acquaintances and some good friends, so we're loathe to leave, and so hang around hoping that something sparks our interest.

3 years ago, AH did that for many jaded WB players.  Now - what will take the place of AH for the long time veterans of MMOL flight sims?  Who knows?

But, just something to think about.

to everyone!

Definately...There needs to be some kinda change in this game. I haven't played online since I payed for it, but this month I was using my dad's name to win the Frenchy award, which is already cheated upon also. 110 kills and 1 death by ManeTMP. The help that you get from your teammates is not reliable. There are more spits and La7's than I can count. The newbies are starting to survive more often because of the planes they fly. AH2 has to come out soon enough! You have to limit the newbies from flying La7 after Spit after Niki into the bases and kill veterans in there 51 or 109 or whatever. There needs to be some kinda restriction on plane set.

Wow is this true? That is terrible news if so.

Isn't there a way through the stats page to see who a pilot shot down and how many times?

Yep, still flying and having a good time.  Tell those bandits hi from me.  Think Hooligan is up that way right now, also.

You need to come up in AH some night and fly with us.

Even my squadmates are beginning to think it's a conspiracy.  "Tumor's here, it'll be dark in a few minutes"!

But, night is only a small piece of the puzzel.  Overabundance of the same airframes (guess!) is another.  Massive gangrapes and Suicide retards and HOstudmuffins.... there's more.  It all fits together to make a perfectly AWESOME flight-sim, a complete joke.

Why do we have the night in a simulation that doesnt simulate night fights (think of radar, window ...)?
Dust and dawn is ok for me but plz get rid of the night.

A few tours ago i had fun in attack planes and bombers. Now i only fly fighters. Why? I dont know but i know that the gameplay has changed to the bad. Strat doesnt interest me anymore. I try to survive the gangbang and N1K La7 hordes and get as many kills and as many good 1 vs 1 as i can get. So I#m waiting for AH2 too.

BTW. What i really like to see is more and deeper information about AH2 plz.

Yeager it's normal to get sick of a game when you play it for four years.  Vets are always going to whine, regardless of what goes on with the game itself.  The longer you play, the better you get at the game, you find more faults in the game, the game becomes less challenging, and it becomes more likely that your next death will be due to a percieved fault in the game.  Discover your inner dweeb and go play something new for a while, then come back when the next big patch comes out.

Last month I decided to give AH another shot.. I couldn't go more than 3 or 4 sorties in a row without getting totally bored. I managed about 5 hours and burned myself out completely. If it weren't for the fact that I didn't sign up for AH with my own credit card (muahaha), I would have canceled my account months ago. HTC needs to pick up the pace a little... or I might stop wasting my dad's money.

I cancelled my account a couple of weeks ago. Even scenarios weren't doing it for me. It's not that there is anything wrong with AH per se, but after 3 years it has lost its 'grab' factor for me. To be expected really - I'm sure if I was new to it all it would be cool.

Hopefully AH2 will be out before I move to a new apartment - I won't have an internet access there unfortunately.

Slapshot - here's my back up. I was just playing around with saying ManeTMP is cheating, but that is one incredible score. The other day there were about 4-5 bad guys and 3-4 my guys. I turned around to get a spit on my guy's 6...I shot him down and than I got killed by an La7. I asked the guy why he didn't help me out and he said it was because he "ran outta guns." Well where were the other 3 guys that were supposed to be helping me. The MA is getting rediculous, plain and simple.

Hellcat... Ya gotta remember one thing:  If you're gonna do something right, ya gotta do it yourself.

If you consistently depend on your countrymates (not squadmates, thats different), then you're in for consistent disappointment.

I'm sure you've heard this before... especially from me:  Dont get yourself in that situation in the first place :)  ...especially when flying without a wingy!  Your random countrymate will, for arguments sake, successfully save your bellybutton 20% of the time in any given situation.  My point is, dont depend on someone you can't trust will drop everything and help you out.  Hell, even squaddies can't come through 100% of the time... but they'll die trying.

Playing around ? ... I saw no j/k or smiley face typically used to insinutate that one is just "playing around". To me it looked like an outright accusation.

The rest of your story ... what in the hell does that have to do with anything about ManeTMP cheating or topic of this thread ?

Bottom line is ... there is no backup.

Ever try to chase a LA7 or P51D or Typhoon in one?  It takes skill to convince your target that they really don't want to run away.

"Hey, look, the Spit V that was behind me is starting to stall.  Now I have him!  I'll just turn this fireball around and go HO him."

:p
