to ruin it with timid 'missun' dudz... Pretty fair plane matchup... zekes and p40b/hurri... as yeager pointed out... crappy nightime in the MA had swelled the numbers in the CT to abourt 70 or more!
First problem... the fields were too far apart for these early war planes.. Oh well.. just fly toward the bar right? They say the CT guys cooperate and make it fun so...Hmm... no real bar.. I flew axis cause they were outnumbered and can't find an enemy? Get to the field after a long (over a sector) do nothing flight only to find the only allies are about 4 guys being ganged by the rest of us axis.. Hmm..
Finally see a big red bar up north.. It is a "missun" full of high alt foxhole "missun dudz"... these guys are in a squad or just lonely... they come in above everyone... drop a few bombs and, like the maw in the MA, when they don't instantly take the field and they would have to fight.... they run! Maybe 4 or 5 of em might take a quick shot at one axis if they feel it is really really really safe but even then... a strain on their heart for sure... better to just run back and...
plan the next "missun".

"like the maw in the MA, when they don't instantly take the field and they would have to fight.... they run!"
Come on lazs ... not true. We fight till we take the base, die, or run out of gas - whichever comes first. Why the MAW slam lately ? Not needed.

Mission vs Furball like the Hatfields vs Mccoys
This could go on for an eternity..
Pulls up a chair... makes sure cooler has plenty of beer and ice...
let the feud begin!!!

tojo, hatfields and mccoys signed a truce! that's something that'll never happen with the fur v strat guys... unless Lazs gets his wish and all bases are really close together.

C'mon Lazs....say it ain't so!

Still more interesting than a telecom salesman..

God it must suck to be Lazs. What self loathing you must have. Do you look in the mirror everyday and scream I hate you over and over again. What an arse why dont you do everyone a favor and just stop. Please Lazs cancel your account. If this game sucks as bad as you say it does stop playing and paying. Spend the $15 on some therapy you need it. Its really pathetic to hear you rant and rave about everyone not fitting into lazs world.
I know start up a H2H arena for just lazs have some clones made of yourself and spend the rest of eternity killing yourself. Ya thats the ticket. Boy I would love to watch that.
Please little man please dont go away mad just GO AWAY!

Today:
Upped in a NOE mission, popped at targed. Killed a town ack and 4 buildings on the first pass, then the ammo bunkers and 3 more buildings.
Kept it clear for our goon, but something wasted the drop. Vulched the field for 2 kills. All of a sudden, 2 Lancs and a fiter inbound. I kill all three, and proceed to vulch 2 N1Ks upping. Our numbers are down from 15 to me alone, so -
Run like hell NOE cause im out of ammo and fuel, and make 2 guys give up the chase. Land my 7 victories on the last drop of fuel.
Yeah, one hell of a boring time.

We got lancs and niks in Burma, now?
eeewww.
As lazs' complaint ... well, sounds like you may have gotten 'Checkered.' Common ocurrence on Tues/Thurs in CT. We've gotten used to it for the most part. Still manage to find some fun ... usually.

Naw maw... it's pretty neat to be me. I simply point out the obvious... if I point it out enough then I figure even a maw could get it...

Laz, some guys like the Checkertails, jG51, 880 and a few others actually have an objective and enjoy flying a ralatively realstic type mission. They depart a rear base, climb for alt, meet up with escorts (if any) attack a target, fly smart and RTB ALIVE!!!!
You wanna furball? stay in the MA :)
-
Lazs, this is even worse than you think. We don't even care about "taking bases". We just put our eggs on target and RTB. Try to stop the bombers, you'll get plenty of action from the escorts.

Honestly... We have an objective to our squad nights.... if we wanted to furball I am sure that we can go to MA or H2H to do it... Really as far as we are concerned.... Untill you send me a check for $1800.00 for the 14 of us... we really don't care what people think of us and what we do in CT... We actually try to do something....other than launch, cap field... furball for an hour then land.... Give me a break... how boring can that get 2 times a week... The checkereds have been getting this ever since they have been in the CT... Okay.... it's time to move on and worry about something else... if that is actually possible..... people in here are so worry about what the other guy is doing... just worry about what your doing...
Just fly and have some fun....

What Stream said.

Seriously lazs, what miska and the others said. There are about 5 squads in the CT that just setup 'missuns' (we dont use the missun planner, no point) to do something creative. No reason to capture bases as that only leads to a reset which means the map goes loopy in the CT. Some of the best missions have been factory bombing in the big week map with escorted b17s.
Now dont tell me intercepting 25+ b17s over the target with a horde of ta152s, and me262s doesnt sound like fun to you.
-
You guys are wasting your time trying to reason with Lazs. If you dont play by his rules you have to get out of his sandbox. Coarse the thing he doesnt understand is its not his sandbox. Its everyones so he throws his temper tantrums ranting and raving about this and that. Pointing fingers and calling people names like the todler he is. He can only be pacified with a arena that has all the bases 5 miles apart and everyone plays by his rules.
He should just step up build a H2H map that fits his style of gameplay and leave the rest of us alone. Then he could set all the paramiters and boot people out that didnt play by his rules.
BTW Lazs the CT is not the furball arena. Its an allied vrs axis arena with setups from various timelines and theaters during the war. Lazs there is no furball arena everone keeps telling you that over and over again but it does not seem to sink in. The checkertails are using it exactly as it was intended to be used when it was first conceved.
I am simply pointing out the facts. I figure if I do it enough even someone like Lazs will get the point. But hey I am an optimist.
-
Agreed, o0Stream140o.
I was just pointing out to lazs that this is the norm for some CT squads, and those of us who, as a general rule, don't find chasing high-alt bombers to be much fun, do manage to still find fun in the CT in spite of it.
No harm, no foul.
Funny how we keep resurrecting the same old squabbles.
As for me, I do enjoy the occasional intercept mission. I remember a particularly enjoyable one over Europe awhile back. But it's not my bread-and-butter, so I've learned to search elsewhere for ways to get shot down.

Splash,
we haven't ran to many high alt bombing missions, we have just started to expeirement with somthing... My aggression was not pointed towards you, but it does become frustrating when you have to defend your actions to everyone all the time. To most people Furballing or Yank and Bank is the most important thing that happened in WW2... it was a basic part of it... but there were other aspects to the war other than that... We are just concontrating on that aspect. If people can understand that, sorry. We are not going to stop flying the way we want to just to please a certian few...
-
I agree with icemaw. It sounds to me that Lazs is complaining about players exercising their right to fly how they want to fly.
-
all lazs is doing is trying to find a good fight that doesn't take 10-15 minutes of sight seeing (or alt grabbing) to get to.
You play this game long enough, and all that sight seeing in between fights is pretty damned boring to some of us. I put up with it once a week in Squad Ops on Friday nights. Even that gets a little old. Let's say I live the full 120 minutes of an event. I'd say 100-110 minutes of that does not even involve seeing an enemy plane within icon range.
Usually I play the CT after squad ops, and I do it for one reason. I know I can find (usually) pretty fun dogfights pretty quickly.
I've intercepted your huge B-17 missions twice in the CT. Pretty boring. Climb up to alt, tool around for 30 minutes, make a few passes, sustain engine damage from the hail of about 20+ 50 cal turrets trained in on me, ditch or die, and log off wondering why didn't I just furball for the last 30 minutes.
I don't care how you fly, as long as I can still find a fun fight. If I can't, I just log off. Lazs just tries to goad you into playing with him so he can have the good fight. No different than goading that damned alt monkey to come down and play, or that extending pony to actually turn and fight.
I want to RTB alive too. I'd just rather do it after mixing it up with some enemies first. Sometimes that gets me in over my head and I get whacked. Yeah, I coulda avoided the situation and had another sightseeing tour, but where's the fun in that?
-
Well, I enjoy realistic situations. For example in the t and b 'fun' that people crave so much, instant action is not possible for a plane like the p40b. Sure you can do it, but you are gonna end up toast if you dont have 9 to 2 odds. You need to climb at least 10k if you want to rtb.
If you dont care about rtb, or being able to fly a plane the way it was historically, *(who the hell wants to fly a p47 at 1k against niks?) then staying in the MA shouldnt be a problem for you.
Now that being said, the best way I see to have fun in this game is to use the aircraft for the strategy and roles it was used in the war. P40b is again a great example. Keep your speed and alt up, and you are unstoppable by early war japanese aircraft. Even if they are at 25k and you are at 10k, they cannot get you if you play it smart (wait till they dive on you then dive into a reverse, they bleed all their E trying to turn with you, end up below you cause they are compressing, and you are doing 400 mph in the opposite direction).
Of course this takes patience, but it is very worthwhile to experience the strat that those guys figured out in the RL planes.
If you want to up into furballs, go to the ma, pull out your 205, nik, or la7 and enjoy. Dogfighting at 1k in a ta152 or 190d is not what the designers of those airplanes had in mind. You dont need a 30mm cannon to take a fighter down.
As far as the b17 guns are concerned, they need to do something about that. Even I admit they are way way to 'laser'. What they need to do is beef up the airframe and make the unmanned guns much much worse shots.

I love seeing missions in the CT, it's historicaificated, -ucational, -irrific, whatever, it's more you know what like.
In the MA, our squad (Hammerheads) sometimes runs "historic" missions where we will take 17s and 51s/47s escort and do something fun. I love that stuff, there is nothing non-CT about shooting a 190 or 109 off a 17s tail in your D-25 47. The teamwork, the strike, the whiteknuckle flying, hearing the buffs call out bandits . . .it's a gas.
Alternatively, I sometimes take a 190 or 110 up high high and look for buff formations, I love that stuff.

icemaw, or can I just call you ICE or... top gun?? I never have tantrums and rarely get angry even... It was a simple question... I don't care how people fly I was just wondering what the point was with so few on. If it's boring to me I will simply do something else.
intercepting 25 B17's in wich there is only 7 real players with 262's or 152's or whatever sound like fun? Not in the least... sounds like a horrible waste of time to me.. Not that it's not ok for others.... just not me.
The CT had some decent fights but none of them revolved around that so called "missun" at least you guys don't claim to be "winning the war" tho. You just like to... to what? blow stuff (buildings and such) up? seriously...I don't get the point.. Maybe it is a good way for you all to catch up on what has been going on in your lives?
I don't know... I have never understood it. Apparently the reverse is true. You seem to think that furballs are..... repetitious? I honestly believe that after all these years, they are the only real fun to be had in these sims and that I have never seen 2 furballs that were the same but that you can burn out on the "missuns" pretty quickly.

Lazs, to me at least the point is to set up and carry out realistic mission profiles. The interest is part historical, but also part entertainment. I do find the low alt furball incredibly limited, repetitious and boring. To each his own I guess.
-
Ok miska... I will take you at your word that you enjoyed that "missun". I guess I am just having problems understanding it... I mean... in the fur, you are doing something.. Sa is strained and you don't have time for anything else... heart pounding stuff. Dry mouth quart of water per hour stuff. eyes burn cause you forgot to blink for a long time stuff.
When I went on "missuns", we did nothing but climb and then level out and then the bombers bombed... mostly nothing tho. I coulda done all my bills or mowed the lawn and not missed anything.
In the missun iin the ct that I was talking about... there was no action at all except for about 4 guys who peeled off from the (escort?) duty to follow a con down... they all died but they did see some action.
Honestly, the rest... so far as I could tell..... didn't get to do anything at all for 20 minutes or more. Did I miss something?

you did :)
