Invasion of Norway
This is a late war set up on the Norway map. The Allies will start on CV's, and the northern British Islands. All fleets will be Allied, except for two DE fleets, a CA fleet (representing the Tirpitz battle group), and a single CV fleet. This Axis CV fleet will represent a hasty conversion of a merchantman to an auxiliary CV, to support the Tirpitz in commerce raiding.
Allies (“Silly English K’niggets”):
CV1 (RN): F4U-1, TBM
CV2 (RN): FM-2, TBM
CV3 (USN): F6F, TBM, SBD
CA fleets: LVT (both)
From Northern UK: Lanc-III, P-51B, Spit-XIV, Mosquito, C-47, all the M's, the Pnzr-IV, and the Osty.
From captured Norwegian fields: Spit-IX, Hurri-IIC/D, Typhoon, P-47D-25, Mosquito, A20G, C-47, all the M's, the Pnzr-IV, and the Osty.
Axis (Rook):
CV1: Bf109F-4, Ju87
CA1 (Tirpitz): LVT (both) and the PT
DE1&2: LVT (both) and the PT
Land bases in Norway: Bf109F-4/G-2/G-6, Bf109G-10 (from two Norwegian airfields closest to England), Me-110G-2, Fw190A-5/A-8/F-8, Ju88, Ju87, C-47, all the M's, the Pnzr-IV, and the Osty.
Captured bases in England (as if!): Me110G-2, Fw190F-8 (Since there is little chance Germany could hold any bases in England, very few resources would be expended to reinforce them).
Ports: All the M's, the Pnzr-IV, the Osty, and the PT.
Radar (NME): Bar-50mi, dot-35mi, alt-500ft
Radar (friendly): Full
Ack: 0.7
Fuel: 1.2
CV hardness = 5k
CA hardness = 8k
Fleet re-spawn time: 60 minutes (be careful with them!)
Downtimes: Ack=30min, hangers=15min, bunkers/barracks=60min
Historical Note: While it never happened, an Anglo-American invasion of German-occupied Norway was a real concern for the German High Command. Likewise, it was certainly considered at various points in time, especially at the height of the Battle of the Atlantic, when the lend-lease convoys were suffering atrocious losses to German forces staging out of Norway.

can you get it up early Friday as I'm taking the wife to Sanibel late Friday through Monday - 25th anniversary :)
-
LOL, but you ask much of me, Eagler. I get up between 4:30-5:00 AM to go to work. And here I put that 109F in there just for you, too. There's gratitude for you;). Really, where are your priorities?

Spit XIV but only P-51B instead of D? No P47D-30? No P-38? Looks like fun anyway. Nothing like some what-ifs to broaden our thinking.
-
I'd say move it up to Wed night:)

By this time, most of the P-38's were with 9th AF, and this is supposed to be something of a side show to D-day, so they don't have all the latest hardware. Likewise, the 109G10 is limited because most of them we're on the Russian front or defending Germany. I much appreciate your open-minded approach, by the way. Makes it a bit easier for us staffers to try to stretch the available planes and terrains.

Looks like serious fun!
Can I ask, why no B-26 on captured fields? Why SBDs only on one CV? Not a huge deal, simply asking.
Also, no Ju87 at the ports when German? Could we have it?

Thanks for the feedback. B-26 should have been in there for captured Norwegian airfields (forgot it). Thanks for the reminder. I have no information of SBD's operating off RN carriers, but I know they used the TBM as their general purpose strike a/c at this point in the war. RN carriers carried only about one-third the number of a/c a USN CV could carry, so they didn't mix as many different types on a single CV, for logistical as well as operational reasons. This was a design trade off for the excellent armor protection (for a CV, at least) British fleet carriers sported. As for the Ju87 at ports, there are no airstrips at ports, so no aircraft at ports. Several ports do have airfields very near them, however.

Okay what's the deal here? If I don't get my scheduled beating over my set up, I'm just not right for the rest of the weekend:p. Hehe, seriously, glad the set up meets with general approval. I might just take up a long-range Lanc mission, just cause I don't think I've flown one in about a year and a half. Be fun to roll over an enemy airfield with about 30 Lanc's in tight formation, 14x1k bombs, and film the mayhem. Hope everyone enjoys it.
