I certainly appreciate all the effort that goes into making the CT a reality and dont want to appear ungrateful or disrespectful...but how bout sticking to planesets that make sense. I recognize my comments on the prior set were probably a bit harsh...but it still was a "comprimise plane set".
I do understand the disire to provide a complete experience but I dont see why the CT has to mimick the MA...do you really need all the bells and wistles all the time. If appropriate bombers arent modeled dont but any in...or only on 1 side but turn capture off.
The current AH planeset does provide for a number of great matchups...and a number of simply good ones. Why venture into planesets like the current one instead of just rotating the good ones. The planeset is mid to late war in nature...I'd bet there are 8-12 good scenarios minimum that would work out very well....why venture to the fringes of the planeset.
I remember one a while back with Ki-61's vs F-6, F4U and 38's. Think nikki was there as well. Flew the Ki all week and had a blast. Since yourt not going to be able to limit numbers or provide realistic objectives like a scenario...imbalanced planesets simply drive folks back to the MA

since we rotate each week, we dont have to worry about this. I like early war pacific and bob. Late war is not that interesting to me unless it is pacific, or a big week type scenario. Butttt..... some peopele dont like those setups, all they need to do is wait for a week or two.

Not every set is everyone's cup of tea, thats one big reasion we stick to shorter (one week) run times for set up's.
Base capture is a nescessary evial in the CT, this is an open areana not an event, like it or not it provideds most of the imputious for combat, we have ran the CT without it in the past and seen the numbers drop in attandance as a result.
Some players like GV's some dont, some like Fighter's some dont, if you dont care for somthing you dont have to use it, but we try and give players as many choices as we can.

I think the zeke2, hurri, P40 matchup is sweet whichever side your on. Done alittle from both sides.
Last couple of nights have been alot of fun. Good fights n' good pilots.

this matchup is good (I haven't done this week, but I've enjoyed it in the past.) So is the F4F vs A6M2 one. Ki-61 vs F6F/F4U is pretty nice as well.
The best matchups are still the Euro theater ones. BoB is about as close to parity as you can get. Then again, P-51D/Spit XIV vs 109G-10 and 190D-9 is a very competitive matchup. (anyone who thinks a G-10 or D-9 can't hang with the Spit XIV is mistaken. G-10 vs Spit XIV is a fantastic matchup.) Heck, even the Spit V vs 109F is a fun matchup! Spit IX vs 109G-2/G-6 is good too.
C202 vs P-40 and early Spits and Hurris is nice. C205 vs the Spit V is fun too.
Overall, BoB is still my fav setup, followed by late western Europe and early Pacific. Heck, I really enjoyed flying the C202 in the last Med setup. :)

I think the CT staff are to be commended for the parity the sets have. The addition of some late war buffs in early war setups is my only beef and that is a marginal complaint, takes all kinds and war has variables.
I loved that Sicily setup, Greece, Finland, Russian winter (Romania?) and BOB-late war Europe. There isn't a dog in the bunch but a few new early war planes would expand the scene greatly.

You also get forced into appreciating planes you normally wouldnt touch with a ten foot pole. I 'hate' russian setups, but last time I have to admit, that yak9t was getting to be a real treat.

Well, because otherwise you'd never get to use these planes, which are a lot of fun to fly!
Zeke is unquestionably suprerior in this case, but the hurri gives it a close run, and a hurri-P40B combo is tough to deal with. Next time Brady runs this one, perhaps he'll dump the twin-engined bombers, perhaps not. Part of the genius of the CT is that you don't have to struggle with any particular setup for more than a week; for example, you get to ride your hotrod planes in next week's setup by Sabre.
One thing I couldn't figure out this week was: how come the numbers so often favored the Allies? You would think that people would want to fly the Zeke (I sure did) (and, for once, I got to!), but it was rare that I had to switch to Allied side to even things out.

I bet it was the guns and the gestalt that did it. People just love the p40b.

I might be wrong, but I bet if you wrote up a few of those 8-12 scenarios they would put them up for you.

I did not run this set up it was Andi's and I was suporting his dischion to include the planes he did, he used an old set up of sabre's and it was his deschion to run it as he did, I agread with his dischion and backed him on it.

absolutely a non matchup 1 vs 1....only possible way p40 even connects (outside of a HO) is a totally superior pilot in the P40...even then I think its a mismatch.
