Title: video problems
Post by: -ammo- on July 10, 2003, 08:42:40 AM
Hi all-

My computer is giving me problems and I hope that someone can give me advice on what may be the problem.

When I started Aces High, it ran normal for a short while and then suddenly I lost all video signal it seems.  The screen had a message saying that my trinitron monitor was in safe mode and to use the the PC to activate it.  HGowver, nothing IO know to do will work.  I cant get a signal. I have let the PCV and monitor sit powered off for hours and I have attempted to  reset the monitor to original settings.  When I power the machine back on, ..nothing.  I feel like my vid card has bit the dust, but hoping that maybe someone here will have more on this.

AMD 1.4 athlon,  528 Mb DDR RAM,  Gainward Geforce 3 (64 Mb),  Epox 8KHA+ MB.

Any help is appreciated.

Ammo, can you plug a different monitor into your computer?

Tried that gunthr, and had the same result (actually I didnt have a "safe mode" message, just no video).  I guess thats why I think it may be the video card.

clean - compressed air - the video card when you get it out
if it has a fan on its chip, make sure it's spinning
