I think the 30$ per month unlimited is
just the right balance.
I think they will do very well with that
pricing.

I'm afraid its a bit too costly for me. Being a student (ACAD), money is a bit tight. Maybe I should start playing the lottery....

Nah, just stop eating. That's how I saved money to buy my hifi equipment!

I found a great solution (only viable if you are a smoker though): Just kick the habit!
Saves you about $1 a day
$1x30 days = $30 a month...ready to play AH.
Alas I know I won't be able to quit so I guess I gotta talk to my bank. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Yep $30 is IMO very good price. If thinking at $2/h rate I might not use that much some months, but I know I will use more than that more often than not.

Hey Iron !!!
Back in Fighter Duel times i was still back in the navy. I found a wonderful thing called maccaroni and cheeze (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

$30.00 per month is the equivalent of NOT
eating 3 large pizzas, 3 two litres of coke-
cola and giving up the daily subscription to
Sheepytime Gazette every day. (can't live
without that Sunday edition however)

Huge sigh of relief here.
I'm glad that HTC has shown the flexibility to adopt a pricing model different from WB.
Hourly rates are dead. I'll gladly pay 30 a month but its gotta be flat-rate!
Good decision guys. You're of to a great start.

Ozthinks $30 is not too bad. People say they can't afford that much, but it's just a question of do you WANT to. Hell, don't go out and party one night a month. Skip a payment on a credit card (remember to rotate the cards u do this on, or they get mad tho. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)) Don't visit so many pay per porn sites. When oz were a college-going KoK he could find $30 a month. You just have to be smarter about what you do with the rest of the cash. Most of us that can afford internet access and the time to burn on games can deal with 30 bucks. People in screwed up countries who actually don't make $30 a month are obviously screwed. But they prolly have more important things to worry about. For the rest of us however, it's merely a question of priorities.
And ramen is yer friend. At varying prices of 10-30 cents a bag and only need water, it beats the crap out of Mac and cheese. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I disagree. Mac and cheese is
an incredibly versatile nutrient delivery platform. Whether deployed in its
standard out-of-box configuration or better yet, when augmented with various
in-field upgrades such as the "MacnCheese with ½ lbs chopped ham" model or my
favorite, the "MacnCheese with can of tuna and can of english peas" variant,
MacnCheese has historically played a crucial role in the support of logistically
challenged air crews. And in extreme conditions, equal parts water and non-dairy creamer can be substituted for the manufacturer proscribed milk product as an expediant measure.

These pre-packaged delivery systems should only be kept on hand for emergency use. For day to day sustenance needs, you'll get a better ratio of sustenance+taste/cost by preparing a large quantity of food on the week for consumption throughout the week. In my experience, navy bean soup has one of the highest STC ratios. For only a few dollars, an entire week's nutritional needs can be met with this tasty and filling concoction.
Other helpful tips- Don't eat breakfast. You've always been told it's the most important meal of the day. Not true! This is a myth propagated by the unscrupulous price-fixing cereal industry. Eating breakfast will only make you hungrier later in the day once you've become accustomed to not eating it. Eventually, lunch will become the same way. The less you eat, the less you need to eat.
You may be tempted to curtail your beer consumption as a cost cutting measure. Don't! This is a common mistake. As was summed up to me recently, "Beer has food value but food doesn't have beer value." That's wisdom that every father should pass to his son. Instead of curtailing your beer intake, make sure that you are purchasing the best beer for your budget. Avoid light beers. They charge just as much for light beer as they do for the regular stuff. Since almost all of the calories in beer comes from the alcohol, seek out the beer with the highest alcohol content. This information is not readily available, but if you call the 800 numbers on the beer labels, they will send it to you.
If all the sage words of advice offered here don't sway you to play AH, you can always take advantage of the free features until you get out of school. Your academics will probably be better. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Pyro,
I find your thesis intriguing, however I remain unconvinced.
I do, however, feel that this is an area than could benefit from much more rigorous examination. If HTC would be willing to fund such research, cases of the nutritional supplement in question can be shipped to my research facilities, which I currently am housing in an apartment for security reasons. I will then put you hypothesis through a thorough and controlled research program. However, since we both want to be a certain as possible of our data before publishing any results, it will be necessary to expend large amount of the test substance to perform the needed experiments.
If however, we are able to prove your thesis, and I have every confidence we will, then the impact of our work on the understanding of nutritional science could be monumental. In fact, our research could be shared with the branches of the armed services in an effort to redesign their current emergency and field rations. I’m sure that we would earn the gratitude of countless service men everywhere for our work.

I agree with the need for further testing. I think testing should focus on the use of heavy long-term diet supplementation with imports and micro-brews. These foreign beers and micro-brews are the ones we should be monitoring the closest. I do disagree with you as to where this research should take place. The facilities at HTC are perfect for this kind of study. Our state-of-art refrigeration unit will insure that environment variables will not taint the results.
Unfortunately, HTC is not currently able to finance the mammoth costs that it would take seriously undertake this study. Potential benefactors can help by sending their grants to me C/O HTC's address.

Lol, Beer consumption and alcohol content and accounting. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Lets do the math. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
For the best alcohol content in a beer ya gotta buy it in Canada. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Canada you say!!!! Why there?
2 Reasons. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) You can if your close enough get your favorite brand or the close 2nd with a dramatically higher alcohol content. As much as 7.5% (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
2nd reason, its cheaper (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) work it out.
24 beer for 22.50 canadian...
thats what... hmmm 45% exchange means that each american dollar is worth 1.45 canadian.
So we take 8.50+ off the price of the 24 case and voila your only paying aprox 14 dollars for 24 beer. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Not Bad. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

O.K. you can't stop drinking beer otherwise you get stupid and I'll explain as was explained to me by some highly educated Ph.D. type:
The Buffalo Theory
------------------
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

P.S. I just know I'm going to be that slow buffalo (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Canadian beer for hi alcohol content? My friend, head across the pond! Find you some good German bier in the 12% ranges. Some of them will be so thick with hops and barley and such floating around in them. It's the beer that eats like a meal! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
And ramen by itself is no great treat, but by adding lots of peppers and yer favorite Dinty Moore microwave lunch bucket type deal, is a vastly different creature. All you military types, submerge that MRE entree in a ramen, an amazing increase in palatability! (Tho oz pretty sure nothing could ever save the Tuna /w noodles or Chicken ala King. They pretty hopeless.)

Omygawd, I had suppressed the memory of the that chicken-ala-king (shudder...).
Although, I'd still take that over the dehydrated pork patty. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Beef strips in bbq sauce was the best!

I didn't mind the Chicken Ala King, would eat that when BBQ Beef was out.
Also ate the Tuna.
Was at an Agressor School in Germany, and we were in the field for a week, MREs, bugs, other natural stuff you could survive on.
When we came out of the woods there was an Army Field Kitchen.

Aww man guys, the chicken-ala-king was my favorite. The pork patty constipation bar makes my guts grumble at the thought of it. The omlets would run that pork patty right through, though... ...if you could get passed the texture (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I hear they put name brand stuff in them now like candy bars and stuff. Heh, we used to fight over the ranger pudding and T.P. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

hehe you boy should have joined the navy 4 meals a day countin midnight dinner. and except for the chicken pattys it was all better than college food or what i eat now.
never missed a meal the whole war gained 20 lbs, figurin if im gonna die im gonna die well fed.
still have that 20 pound suvenere by the way lol.
the coffee in the nav was a sin tho it came in big 5 gallon green army lookin cans marked U.S. coffee and had not explosive on the side still have flashbacks from it yecccheeeeeee!!

I understand that the Navy was well fed.

However, I find that Pyro's assertion of the proper place to conduct this research is flawed, and should in fact be conducted elsewhere, in a more centralized location by people with a LOT more experience.

Ah man I think $30 is way to much people with the likes of FA2 http://www.zone.com/fighterace/ (http://www.zone.com/fighterace/) in beta and costing around $6 a month it's gonna be stiff compitition up there.
I'm currently beta testing FA2 (free also) and would love a crack at this but the cost is so off putting (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif).
