That plane really does look like an aluminum coffin to me.  Its so cramped and confined, and how in the world do the pilots bail out without getting chopped up by the props?

first thing i thought when i looked at that picture, was how vunerable the crew look! pilot better be on the lookout for HOing nikidweebs

I think they could feather the props, but the bail hatch was proburly behind the engines anyway.

I think bail hatch is, just like in the B-17, below the aircraft

was there no gunsight (reflector or iron) for the pilot or copilot?

Isnt that a reflector gunsite in front of the pilot?  I can make out the shape of a square piece of plastic.
