Just learned today that former USCG Officer and actor Buddy Ebsen passed away on 6 July. He was 95. We will miss you Uncle Jed!

I reckon I'll get out my shooting iron and give him a one gun salute.

I remember an episode of Barnaby Jones where the murderer was a rock singer played by Marjoe Gortner (who was in all kinds of bad movies in the 70's)

Anyway the deal was someone was trying to steal his song....and then at the end of the show he sang it.

It was "Wind Up" by Tull and they made it a "70's TV friendly" version.

My Cod it was bad.

Man 70's cop shows were the best.
Columbo, still the all time king.
Streets of San Francisco and Rockford Files - tie for best theme music.
And the hilarious ones like Cannon or Ironside.  I loved it when William Conrad would hop out of his Lincoln, holler in his best Rocky & Bullwinkle narrator voice, and run down some criminal, all 300 lbs bouncing along.

Used to film Cannon location shots where I grew up. Gawd that show was wonderfully lame.

Buddy Ebsen was one of the good guys.

Didn't know he was in the Coast Guard before.  He sure could dance though in the Beverly Hillbillies.  I enjoyed the episodes where he had Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs on the show.  Now THAT is my kind of music!!!:)

Roy Clark made an appearance also, in the episode where Jethro was a musician agent, and wouldn't give 'ol Roy a chance because he thought Roy couldn't cut it in the music world.

What the heck, I used to enjoy Hee Haw back in the day.:D

The Beverly Hillibillies was, and still is, a darn good show and a classic.
