No AAR's this morning? Could not make it, but would like to know how things went. I see my squad bagged about 14 Zekes, but no Kates or Val's. Did the Imperial Japanese Army sweep with their fighters first? How is the fuel Depo? Any CM post the logs yet?

OH, it went just aweful (for the allies)
they leveled the fuel depot, by first hitting with Zekes (which we avoided to look for Kates and Vals) seems everyone thought the zekes would be without ord. When the Kates and Vals finally did arrive we pasted 'em pretty good, and enough IJN pilots died in the first hour that the second hour was pretty much called.
Squads that tangled with the zekes shot 'em up pretty good, but it was too late to stop the depot from going down.
-
For the record, the frame objectives/orders I received didn't say we couldn't use Zekes for bombing, so I apologize if I broke an unwritten rule there. It seemed like it would be a decent strategy... hoping the allies would let them pass through while looking for the "real" bomber force... and it sounds like it paid off.
How much were you Allies fooled by the "decoys" I sent through to get various base icons flashing?
In the end, the Axis did an absolutely great job with what they had to work with. Mine was a very bold plan, but a plan born out of of futility and desperation. I don't see how we could have gotten bombs on target any other way... not when going up against equal and/or superior planes who are on the defensive.
to all who played. Sorry it didn't go better.
-
The plan was to ignore the zekes "assuming" they could carry no ord. When they dove on the fuel dump we attacked. The zekes tore the area up pretty good, but quite a few of them are smeared all over the Burmese junlge.
I live long enough to take one with me............:)
-
Yep - I told my guys CAPPING A4 to avoid the Zekes and hunt bombers.
When they finally DID show up we wiped them out - but not before realizing the zekes were on a Bombing Mission and had already hit the fuel depot.
A lot of chatter on the Allied side about where are the bombers and why are the zekes bombing ?

Heh, i dont about any unwritten rule Dux......we just assumed (and you know where that leads) :D
I think we all had fun though.
-
It was fun!!!! I had a great mixing it up with Zekes down low.
Salute to all the Zeke pilots!! Nice bombing!
:)

Could someone point me to the logs please?
-
they are apparently not yet posted, Rip.

This was my first special event with the Checkertails  and with the Friday Night crowd. I enjoyed it.
I do have one question though, during WWII a kill was credited to the one that last hit the con causing it to crash, explode, etc (I think). Last night I couldnt really kill anything so I would just make a a single pass at a con then move on to the next one, reataining my speed in case the Zeros showed up, which they never did. With all of us guys chasing bombers, I did have two explode in front of me/us and I saw the wing fall off a third. I recall hitting many many bombers. Instead of actually trying to get a "kill", my focus was to just cause as much damage with my first pass and let someone else finish'em off. I also wanted to save my energy and ammo for the zeros.
So as for DUX'S heavy zeke order...nice call bud it effected my flying.
oops, back to my question, how are credits awarded in here? Most damage or last shooter?
-
Most damage gets the kill. Glad you enjoyed yourself LtMagee. :) Friday's are a solid good time in AH IMHO. Screen shots anyone?
Dux excellent plan. I don't remember reading anything in the orders about the Zekes not to carry bombs. Well done! Would have turned out the same had I been able to make it because I would have told all the fighters to hunt the Kates and Val's. Glad to hear you paid for it. Maybe for frame 2 the IJN should get 50% less fighters. :D
Yes, the logs should have been posted by now. Unless there is a problem someone is slacking. ;)

*edited* thanks for the update

Logs are now posted:

Looks like Japanese smacked the allied refinery but at a very, very high cost in planes. They lost 83 out of 88 planes and only shot down 16 allied planes.
-
Holy Cow!!
Allies:
83 kills
20 deaths
Axis:
16 kills
71 deaths
but they nailed our refinery good!

I'm sure they enjoyed the traditional cup of Saki before the flight, and had their bandana's tied tightly around the forehead. :D

Thks for getting these up within 24 hours. Great stuff!

Every single one of those P-40b pilots must have had 6 foot boners when they saw those 20 Vals and Kates under them lol.
That was a blast! I came >< close to geting my Val to the Refer, after dodging the first P-40 attacks, then a Hurricain assualt, only to be hunted down on the deck just north of the field.
to Cando for leading our strike, and to Dux for an awesome set of orders.

If it had been real war, you'd have come back the next day with yet more Japanese and finish the field, because the P40's would be without fuel

Is the 308 Polish in the Friday night events? I see only one showed up (lol got the best Kill to Death). But I don't see them in the previous month Friday nights. CM's you might want to send a polite reminder to the C.O. Ramsey?

81% loss.. na they would not have been back. ;) And the local C.O. (Dux) would have had to sharpen his short sword. :D
-
Logs would have been up Sat morning but Gremlin's site was giving me trouble and I had to refer to the experts.
As far as the 308th guy, Suave flew with the FDBs as a guest and apparently Sevv slipped in somehow when he saw Suave in the arena. I missed his name in the shuffle because he had a squad attached. He ended up following us around because he was familiar with Suave. He is also Polish and there wasnt any way for us to really communicate with him about his not being registered for the event and therefore not being able to fly. It just didnt seem right to me to boot someone who didnt understand why I was asking him to leave.
-
lol!

Quite understandable. :) He has bragging rights. :)

but I had a good time, especially in the last two or three minutes before I got my kate waxed. That was exciting, trying to dodge through the P40s and get to the refinery. I wondered at the time why we were being sent in without figher escort.
I got shot down about 5 miles short of the target.
Thanks, axis leaders. I'll be your bait any time.

Been in the Val in these things before...we (MAG33) had actually managed to get our bombs on the target before dying shortly after by cap, but JUST getting thru, it felt like we'd won the war considering our planes and CAP. ;)

Point of pride: I was the second to last survivor in the Freebirds, according to the logs.
And considering we lost over 90% of the raid, I shouldn't feel bad about being hung out to dry.
It was fun.

Orders are going to have to be very explicit in wording. If you leave a loophole, a prudent CO will use it. Fortunately, was no big deal this time, the allied fighter guys got a ton of kills and the japanese strat guys got to blow up something.
