Just got a new joystick the Saitek X45- but cannot calibrate it for the life of me! It calibrates fine in windows but will not calibrate in the game. The + wont center and the rudder and throttle both fluctuate as well as massive spiking. When I enter the game I lose auto takeoff, get a message not to move the controls so fast and total loss of control of the aircraft. Does anybody have any idea whats going on? I have used the joystick in other games with no problems. Please somebody help.

Does Aces High detect the joystick? If not reinstall it
-
Yes, Aces High reconized the joystick. I even exchanged it for a new one and installed it. Same thing.

You might want to try the hardware forums and see if someone can answer your question in there. Are they little spikes or big ones? If they are little ones then turning up your deadband might help, if they are big ones then I don't know.

are you using a AH profile for ur X45 programming?
-
No I havent set any profiles yet.
-
did you try to add a bit of damping ?
-
If you are running Win98, then go into the Game Controllers/Devices in your Control Panel and click on the Controller ID tab and uncheck Poll w/Interrupts.
Not sure how you do it in Win2k/XP though.
Ack-Ack

Now for the kicker, I plugged in my old joystick which never gave me any problems and it is doing the same thing. So its looking like a computer problem now. Any ideas from anyone?!

Back up everything, reformat hard drive, reinstall OS. Make sure you install any motherboard or chipset drivers right after windows.
-
what operating system are you using? Is the stick usb? If usb, how many devices are on your usb ports?
-
I had similar problems when I got my x-45 (win xp home).
I solved it by clicking on the select joystick button on the AH calibrate menu and making sure that all the buttons were set to correspond to the proper functions.
I dont remember the exact set up and since I am work I cant give you more detailed info.
After I did this everything worked fine.
I would probably try this (if you have not already) before a reformat. I am assuming that you have downloaded and installed the last set of drivers that Saitek put out for the x-45.
After you get it working do a search for Eagler's post about profiles for the x-45. I seem to remember he has a profile set up for AH.

Thanks so much for everybodys help, I did reformat and lo and behold the stick works great! I must have had a corrupt file or something. Computers running alot better too! Now I can get back to flying. Thanks again!!:D

could b bad stick, RTB it , if you get the same results then proceed . I had similiar prob with x45 it would pull to the left all the time at teh slightest touch....it was the stick itself.
