Title: Uncommon valour or Hearts of Iron?
Post by: thrila on July 13, 2003, 10:16:19 AM
My gf has gone away for 3 weeks so i've decided to buy a game to pass the time.  I've narrowed it down to these 2 games, but i can't decide which to buy.  Which one should i buy, which is better?

Uncommon Valour...you have 3 weeks, it still isn't long enough to learn all the nuances of the game.

If you are into Naval War strategy games..this is the one.

Uncommon Valor, without a doubt. Best strategic wargame in the past ten years.

I dunno what to say, I have HoI and I'm beta in Victoria...At the same time I have been wanting to pick up UV for the past year or so, but I never get around to it.

The two games are completely different. If you want grand strategy ww2, then HoI is the best game on the market. And make no misstake about it, since v 1.05 it is really good.

UV is just grand tactical for the southern pacific. So it is not fair to compare the two, since you are comparing apples and oranges.

UV is a really great game, so is HoI.

HoI is grand strategy-run your nation from 1936-1944-choose what to build-choose what to research-choose where to invest in defensive lines-chose whether to attack Russia in 1940 or go for England-scream as your airforce is crushed against the new generation fighters of your foes-rejoice as your new ultramodern tanks sweep away all resistance-kinda game.

UV is move around your taskforces-watch the oil-send aircover-scream as you stumble into an ambush-weep with joy as your marines secure the beach-head-kinda game.
