Most of you new poeple will 75% wonder if your fellow guy is using a trainer because wheels dont come down. Reason for this topic is to clear a few things up, First of all come down to fast is one of ways the wheels wont come, second they probaly damaged because of battle. :p :confused: :p oh and p.s plz put a replys here after loooking and tell how you think wat else does it and this for the newbs to learn.

Deploying gears above the rated speed (most planes in AH it's 200mph) will rip the gears off and battle damage to the gears will prevent them from deploying.

Same for flaps btw.

Slow your plane down below 180 mph first.

BTW if you hear "groaning" thats warning that you are about to exceed speed for your landing gear. Either slow speed or raise gear before they are ripped off.

Dont forget to check your indicator lights.  If you drop your gear and its damaged, one (or more lights) will be unlit.

Your damage list should be checked for confirmation of the light (or vice versa).

If you lost one side of the gear in a fighter:

- trim aircraft all the way towards the intact side of the gear;

- set her down gently on the side of the runway you still got gear on (right gear dead -> use left side of rwy), and apply aileron and rudder to the undamaged side;

- make her roll as long bellybutton you can. Once movement is uncontrollable, brake like hell.

It would be easier just to belly land if your gears are damaged.

But I've only successfully belly landed by ditching in the water. Has anyone belly landed with gear up on a runway and lived to tell about it ?

ive belly landed tons of times on the runway.
just use 1/2 flaps and glide in low and as slow as possiable ...
keep your nose up slightly and let the plane touch down as softly as possiable .... when it comes to a stop  type in    .ef
and you will get a successful landing .(most of the time):D

ya,only one fighter i know of that can let its gear down while halling butt,,is a f4u:)

You can belly land just fine...  as long as ur below 150 or so its np.. some times I get lazy and belly land so I don't have to wait as long to stop...>

Belly landed for 3 months before i knew gears actually existed.. (realized u have to be under 200 mph for gears to come out :D )

Here's what I do for a successful Landing every time.
1. Line up with runway at least 2 to 3 miles out..***more later**
2. Drop airspeed to below 180.
3.Drop first notch of flaps.
4.As Air speed starts to drop , I start lowering Flaps.
5. When Air Speed hits 120mph, I lower the gear, advance throttle to maintain 120.
6. Just as I see I am over the runway I chop throttle, and flare.
7. Hold full back Elevator and Brake (on some aircraft you can only tap the brakes untill the plane is slow enough to stop.)

*** When I line up (And this is probably the most important step)
I pretend that there is little tiny rock at the end of the runway closest to me. I want my wheels to "set down" right on that tiny pebble ! By Holding the center of my gun sight pipper right on the "Tiny pebble" thats sitting on the end of runway closest to me, and then Flaring just as I pass it, (you are now looking down the runway and keeping yourself lined up with rudder) Usually my wheels touch down for a very nice easy landing ! :)  Good luck and have fun !

If you are coming in to land and need to drop speed below 180 to put gear down, you can crab, or skid:

Twist full rudder to one side and put in aileron on the other (ie left rudder and right aileron) to keep plane lined up with runway.  If you are at idle, speed will drop quickly.

Once you are at flap/gear deployment speed, just let go and land normally!

Auger is the best way to a new plane. Landing is overrated

I find that if I am coming in with too much speed for a proper landing, I tend to giggle hysterically and attempt, repeat attempt, to fly through several hangers then turn back to the runway and see if my fear has slowed the plane down at all, if not, I usually auger trying to go thru the vehicle hanger, only manage to accomplish that once in awhile, it is always more fun if someone has spawned in the VH as you crash in a ball of fire in front of them and they think they are under attack :)
