It is just too short and playability after the campaign is quite boring :(
Otherwise it is a sweet game as long as it lasts

(i played it thru in under 36 hours .. i dont remember exactly)

It feels SOOOO good to take out your tommy gun and blow away a big croud of people then having a police shootout in the middle of the city. :D

Loved this game... but couldnt get past the 'train depot.'  I guess I was missing something obvious, but I couldnt get the hanger door open that the bad dude was hiding in.

[SPOILER]
You are supposed to go release the oil car bit further on the tracks and switch the tracks towards the hangar (well, in reverse order)

Agreed, this game was very enjoyable to play. I played through the whole game the first time without realizing you can pull up the onsceen map. Wow, what an idiot. Took me forever to drive places.

It was an awesome game, very good at creating a 1930's atmosphere.

its sort of GTA3 set in the 30's, BUT!! its no where near as boring!

Didn't realize there was a sequel for Mafia, I shall have to grab that one

its close to GTA:vc but GTA is a car game where Mafia is a Shooter.

GTA your missions is done with your car.

Mafia you missions is done by your guy. The car is there to get you from one place to another. or to get away from the police.

but they look the same.

best mission was after you wacked the dude in the hotel then had to escape to the roof, where the copers chased you from roof top to roof top.  :)

"Lost Heaven" is the name of the city in the original "Mafia" game....think thats what he's meaning.
Unless I'm totally wrong and there is a sequel, if so, I want it...first one was an absolute blast
Last couple of missions, I spent more time watching my 'buddies' than the crooks, was expecting a classic 'your best mate is gonna end it for you' type plot :)
Loved 'The potato" level, just the 'feel' of the building............plush leather, walnut panneling and velour everywhere, 'broads' in evening dresses and lingerie walking around, the odd sailor or two....awesome :)

I have to agree though, once the campaign 'story' game has been played through, replay value is almost non- existant........much like Vietcong game.....funny that.
