Reckon he realises? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/3067517.stm)
I would have thought he would have caught the news by now.
-
My god! She is too ugly to be that young!
-
She definately doesn't look like a 19 year-old Uni student. I would think that if he took her out of the country he is screwed.

Well that was a charming thing to say MT. I guess if your 12 year old child was ugly, you wouldn't care if she ran off with a 30 year old man.
-
I'd be grateful to him for getting her out of the house.
*shudder*
-
I only posted that after feeling sorry for the parents for an appropriate amount of time...
-
Sorry for her being ugly or sorry for her disappearance... LOL
-
Yes
-
LMAO

dowding scraping up anything to slam the US and its military ...
or was it ur concern for the child
-
Well she is *UGLY*.
I find it humorous that
a.) You get tips for parents whose kids surf the 'net - whoopee watch your kids with your own eyes guys and
b.) in a post 9-11 world, with "bolstered" airport security, a 12 year old can simply board a plane and fly away with noone knowing.
I conclude that
a.) the parents are total idiots;
b.) all the increased security will only leave more people to blame when the next scyscraper goes *BOOM*

Just read some of this...the first thing I saw was of a Marine meeting a 12year old...so my response was different when I dug deeper and see that he thought she was 19.
Boy, ain't he in a fine mess now.
-
"dowding scraping up anything to slam the US and its military ... or was it ur concern for the child "
Eagler, why do you hate England?
;)
But honestly. Don't you think the exemplary and archangelic US marine was simply performing his sacrificial patriotic duty for the over all good of the homeland? A selfless act that would make John Wayne, Mom and various makers of apple pies damn proud?

Why would this be big news again dowding?
A girl lies about her age and a horney guy is more than willing to believe her.
I had a friend who was dating a 19 year old girl. We went on a double date to the drive in and were coming back on base late and the guard had to check everyone's ID. I was driving and he looked at me and said "Did you know she is 14" (pointing to the friends girlfriend)... then waived us on. It wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't tell him she was pregnant later that night.
There's tons o reasons crap like that happens. For someone to come to conclusions on it with such little information tends to indicate they'd like to believe a certain way vs them wanting to know what actually happened.

"Why would this be big news again dowding? "
I bet if a British Marine absconded with a sweet, young 12 year old child from Connecticut or New Jersey it would be even BIGGER news. Actually I bet many of people would be hollering for a full frontal nuclear attack on the British Isles in retaliation.
I can see CNN now.... "Countdown to Attack up the Thames" "Confrontation with the Redcoats" and "Bush vs the Royal MUM" ....
-
Where's the picture of the little girl? I think they accidentally utilized a picture of a young Geddy Lee.
-
Sure it would be. I'm sure this has never happened in the past because it surely would have made the news... right?

I just thought it was a bit weird. I mean surely you'd realise she was 12?
At least make an attempt not to be a salamander, Eagler. I think if I was going to slam the US military (of which the guy is no longer a part, by the way), I wouldn't be looking at a possible internet abduction case.
The latest news is that she flew from Paris to Liverpool, England alone, so the guy looks like he did realise afterall. Although he met her in Manchester, England before heading to France...

Nah, I think he's just ticked she turned him down first.
-
You're talking like you're young dowding. As you get older, it does get more difficult to distinguish age. Some look like kids... others don't. I imagine that gent eventually stumbled on something that clearly indicated her age (you can hide it for a bit... but not for long).
Of course, its nice to see people around the world assume the worst.

Yeeesh, so how did that sad story end?
-
Y' know, I have a hard time convincing Americans that the British dental system isn't as bad as they make out - and then this picture pops up on the news.
She's what my yank producer calls a 'hand grenade' - the girl you hope your buddy jumps on for the good of everybody else.
-
lol :D

He married her then found out the kid wasn't his. They instantly put the child up for adoption after it was born and he treated her like **** the rest of the time I knew him.
Sad thing is... this isn't an unusual story in the military.

"A senior British official said the case added urgency to legislation intended to outlaw cultivating sexual contacts over the Internet."
What? The Brits want to outlaw chatting up girls over the Internet?
-
Mickey,
Since when some wacko british official has been 'brits' :>
I'm sure half a england is laughing at him and the other half doesnt know about him.
-
Damn for a minute I thought she was a he then I read the headline again. Poor jarhead; I really hope he has figured it out by now and thought "WTF am I doing flying around with something looking like this."; then bailed on her and is flying on around the world hoping this will all blow over soon.

What? The Brits want to outlaw chatting up girls over the Internet?
The proposed law will make it illegal for adults to cultivate sexual contacts with children under 16.
-
MSNBC is reporting that she has contacted her parents and is fine and he has contacted his family and will be contacting the FBI voluntarily.

You mean that's not illegal now in Britain?
-
case should help webcam sales anyway...
-
The guy has been arrested in Germany. The girl is in England.
Any activity with a girl under 16 is illegal - but talking to one on the net as a 'grooming' process isn't. Apparently, the law currently waits for a crime to occur, whereas the changes will be pre-emptive.

Marines- If they cant fight it, **** it, or drink it they have no use for it.
Most of you guys that were in the military can vouch, there is some sick stuff that goes on overseas. especially in the 3rd world countries.
-
Rhur Rhoo, Raggy (to quote Scooby Doo)
Latest news indicates he *knew* she was 12....
Police sources said images of child pornography (search) were discovered on Studabaker's computer during investigations into the missing pair. The sources also said they had evidence, again taken from Studabaker's computer, that the ex-Marine knew that Shevaun was 12, not 18 or 19, as he had claimed to relatives.

Yeah, but it didn't cause me to come home and bang 12 year olds.
-
last i heard they got his bellybutton in frankfort germany! the little smurfy went home!
-
If they truly found child porn on his PC he is screwed. You have to wonder what in the hell some people are thinking.
-
Looks like he's getting the shaft instead of her.
-
I wouldn't let my dog run off with her, maybe he likes a strapon?
-
Castrate the bastard and put him in a cage.

Britain is seeking to have him charged with abduction in this country. There's apparently alot we haven't been told for the girl's safety while she was in his possession.
