Title: Copperheads
Post by: rpm on July 15, 2003, 05:50:34 PM
Saturday night my nephew and his friends came over to have a Jacuzzi party on my patio. Having several thong clad young girls running around is a burden I must endure. (heh!) Anyway, after an hour one of the girls starts screaming her head off and I run outside to see what the problem is....A SNAKE! I live out in the country on 200 acres and this happens from time to time, so I grab my trusty 12 Gauge and blast the lil sucker. It was a Copperhead. I calm everyone and the party resumes. 10 min later and there are more screams. 2 more of the little suckers have appeared so I blast them. Well needless to say the girls were out of here. In the last 2 days I have killed 3 more of them. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of these poisonous lil critters? Kinda has me worried now.

I believe Mothballs.. or episonsalt's. Try your local Home Depot or handy store.. I think theres something called snake-b-gone ' i think'

However its only last for a while.  My mother's very scared of snakes in genral.  I use mothballs around her garden and haven't see a lick of grass snakes or black snakes.

At my home (lake front) I have to resort to a shovel due to the fact that I live in the city limits...

I get those water moc's.. these fuggers will chase you lol!! It's been a rare seasion I haven't seen but one snake.. I wonder If I have killed htem all or the mothballs are working here too

Least you can shoot the sum'iches  :D

On a bad note: "You" need to look your place over well. 3 in one night you have have a nest or something that is attracting them.

Hence the reason I was asking. If there is a nest, den or whatever I want the lil bastages gone. I don't mind killing the ones I see, it's the one I don't see that bugs me. Thanks for the suggestions.

Anybody know St. Patrick’s email?

Actually I would try your local Fish and Wildlife department; they will often help with venomous snakes. Or they can recommend a pest control service.

a good mean tom cat or a road runner.  saw a road runner eat a rattlesnake once, pretty awsome.

Sounds like a den to me also.

Better hope not cause depending on the size of the hole there could be dozens of them in there.
