Sometimes on this board there are war stories written by the pilots themselves, I'm assuming these are taken from various books, and I'm interested to buy a few of these, so I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest a few.
Also, if there are any WW2 books that are "must-have", I'd like to know.
Thanks.

Looks like some of these are paperbacks but they are pretty good reading anyways. My copies are from '50s and they're all hardcovers :)

Before you go doling out your cash to buy, you may want to take a look at some of the compilations of first-hand accounts first; such as "War In The Air" by Stephen Coonts. From there, you can make a quick stop at the public library using the compilation as a way to know which ones you want to get.
I personally recommend:
"I Flew For the Fuehrer" by Heinz Knoke
"Samurai!" by Saburo Sakai
"Baa Baa Black Sheep" by Greg Boyington
"To Fly And To Fight" by "Bud" Anderson (which has been quoted before on this board)

For fiction try -
Goodbye Micky Mouse - Len Deighton
A Piece of Cake - Derek Robinson
A Clean Good Fight - Derek Robinson
Goshawk Sqdn - Derek Robinson
Bomber - Len Deighton
Spitfire Summer -
Under an English Heavan - Robert Radcliffe
First Flight - Geoff Wellum

Schaden - there are a couple of other Robinson WW1 books - War Story and another one whose title has slipped my mind.
Have you read the Samson novels by Deighton - I'm just getting into them.
