Spend most of a year in a combat zone, then post something. Until then I believe the phrase is STFU.

sarcasim dosnt come across well on the net. gotta keep telling myself that. It pisses me off that those troops are being lied as well. It seems like the president is doing his best to avoid explaining to our troops and us citizens a plan of action for iraq. Other then "bring it on"

[Edited for my lack of reading comprehension]

I've heard talk of what sounds like the one-year rotation policy we had in Vietnam. I don't know if it's unit or individual though.

"What was told to us in Kuwait," he said, "was the fastest way to go home was through Baghdad. And that's what we did."

But more than three months later they are still here.

"Well it pretty much makes me lose faith in the Army," said Pfc. Jayson Punyhotra, one of the soldiers grouped around the table. "I mean, I don't really believe anything they tell me. If they told me we were leaving next week, I wouldn't believe them."

That's not good.

i wonder how many troops the media had to talk with to get that sound bite with Pfc. Jayson Punyhotra?

As predicted, media is desperate for a story, and will now undermine US military efforts in classic fashion.

How can the media be desperate for a story when we lose a soilder everyday of the week, and we have 3,000,000 million jobs lost.

Why blame the media all the time? Where's the personal and professional responsibility of the officers commanding these guys?

"I know we'll give unlimited, unedited access to a bunch of our troops."

I'd say a few careers went down the drain in the last couple of days.

You've never been in combat I suspect. I was waiting for this kind of news to hit the mainstream media.

If there's one soldier with low moral in the ranks of a squad, platoon etc. you can bet your last dollar that he's not the only one.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING can cause a moral problem like being short then finding out you're not...especialy for a reservist.

I realy hope to COD that our troops are relived and soon!

A combination of severe heat, extreme tense situation (where Saddam Loyalists still roam the street with other Iraqi citizens) and lots of sand will do this to you (low moral).  I'd go into Maslows theory but I don't want to put up with the abuse of "You've never served have you?"

They're not soft. It's just a beeatch to first be on exercise, then be told 'fights this war and we'll send you home', then win the war and then be told 'oh, you'll have to wait for a bit in this unstable country which by now is probably more dangerous for the average soldier than it was during 'major combat'.

A bit disrespectful to call people who just risked their lives in a war for 'soft'. Maybe they weren't front line troops but as we've seen before even the maintenance crew can get in serious trouble.

I'd be pissed off too. OTOH, it's their job. The military isn't there to just do parades and give scholarships for studies. In Denmark the chances of being sent away to a war are slim; in the US it's quite likely.

Low morale is a bad thing though and the Baathist loyalists will pick up on this quickly, as will at least half of the population in the US.

They need to quit whining.

I'm sure the rest of their unit has solved the problem by now.

Whels,

He has yet to reach the age of majority much less have a basis of experiance on which to found critical thinking. As a second note it's much easier to talk than get out and actually do something. Those who HAVE done something have a better perspective from which to speak.

Being a military man of going on 14 years let me say this....
The most important thing to a marine/soldier is their time. Dont tell them they will be somewhere for 3 or 4 more months then change it to a year. The moral will plumit. On top of that losing a soldier a day is not helping. Getting shot at daily is no fun. Im a quite sure at this time they feel their efforts are not appreciated.

I had a SSgt in the Marines tell me something that sticks to me this very day. He said, " You can always tell the fool who wants to goto war. Cus that same fool who is volunteering has never been to war." He did 2 tours in Lebanon.

If you ever want to hear the truth about how a unit is feeling talk to the low man on the pole like a PFC. They have nothing to hide. The higher up you go the more politically correct you must be.

Now spend a year in a combat zone before you tell them to stop whinning.

my god it was sarcasim you dolts.
Personally i think that the troops have the right to say whatever the hell they want to say.
As long as it dosnt undermine their mission.(which in this case they have no real idea what that is.)

I may be just a tad bit sensitive about the subject. I dont take kindly to people outside of the military making fun of those who are in risking their lives. I apologize..
