what an exceptional performance, tremendous .
Now 3 guys are inside one minute and the next 3 hops are in the the Pyrenees. Thats surely one of the most exiting Tour de Frances i've ever saw.
-
Yep it's great this year. Pyrenees are going to be awesome. :)
-
yes , very close race this year and hamlton is in 4th riding with a broken collar bone.

Yep this guy is awesome. Bummer that Beloki is out.

cc, this is the most exciting tour ive seen so far. im more of a downhill bikeman myself but i gotta wach the tour
go ullrich, go armstrong and go hushovd (only norwegian guy this tour since one of our other norwegian guys who is on us postal didnt make the cut. hushovd is in 4th place and close to leader for the green shirt).
that tyler hamilton is one tough bugger to
to bad its summer and im wasting valuable sailing/beachvolley/suntanning/drinking and sex time waching it every day
-
Lance owns the hills.... you'll see.
-
So far it's Virenque who owns the mountains. But yes, Lance has clobbered Ulrich in the mountains before.
-
I think Ullrich may over did himself in the time trial, going to be tough to recover.
Armstrong did just enough, this weekend will seal it for him.
Another TT at the end of the tour. Armstrong will give 100% and its over.
Great Tour this year.
-
Its unbelievable...
-
doesnt seem like ulrich has overdone it :)
lance is either smart or hard pressed, this is a thriller
-
Sure doesn't, hats off to him.
Would of liked to see him take the "Yella" over, more work for him.
Better for Postal.
Armstrong did manage to gain a bit of breathing room from Vinakorov....(or what ever). A lot easier to watch one rider then two.
-
ive heard that lance is a real big hero in the us, with live feeds to times square....
no wonder, he has beaten the big C and is one of the worlds best athlets..
hat off
btw, our guy (hushovd) took 12 new points for the green pantie.. won both sprints :)
-
As an American living in Germany it's tough being a Armstrong fan.
Ya get it from all sides ;)
-
Better not bend over then :D

Sure sure, but today Ullrich attacked again, now only 15 seconds behind the yellow jersey...
-
Seems Ulrich has found his speed again :D
-
Oh no, now I have too watch all the old beer bellied renters drive by with Bianchi team jerseys.
Must admit, I like the "Throw Back" Bianchi jerseys.

Sure I'm pro Ullrich but I have the greatest respekt to all these athletics. So for me its not so important who wins.
Today we have the hardest hop and I'm curious if Ullrich is able to attack Lance again.
So here we are again spending 5 hours in front of the TV looking at the superb commentatorship.
-
Hmmm.......I may have to take Monday off ;).
Mondays stage is going to be the Chit.
-
yeah monk, i have vaication but i hope for rain tomorrow... have wasted enough sunshine for tour de franc already :)
jeez... 3 guys within 18 seconds
-

LOL here the sun is shining, I have a free day but my girlfriend has a free day too, so ... ... im afraid I wont see it ...
-
So sad that Joseba (Beloki) is out. He was stronger than ever this year.
talk about bad luck :( however the other Spaniards are doing an amazing work...keep an eye on Haimar Zubeldia and Iban Mayo, those two guys are going to be something worth talking about!.
-
dont you have a portable radio with earplugs duedel?
you can hear the tour AND you wont have to listen to your gf yapping all the time... perfect :D
-
Hmmmm........WTG Lance!!!
I'll have to stay up late tonight and watch the Highlites.
-
yup great lance today, and good sportsmanship by ullrich for waiting (lance waited for ull in 2000 tho i think it was).
Ull is gonna have to do it on the tempo now i think and that may drain him to much.

LOL :D
My girlfriend would kill me but HEY i managed to look le Tour today and it was great (as usual). Lance showed what he really can do. He is so strong hes playing in another league when hes in top form. Even Jan cant reach him and Ullrich surely is awsome too.
I guess that Lance now will win the Tour. I dont believe that Ullrich can take off 1 min from Lance.
-
Anyone ever read the Lance Armstrong autobiography? It's a good story about his whole life and he doesn't sugar-coat it like many other autobiographies.
Just think people, if the Cofidis team had accepted him after his cancer, he would be racing for a French team right now
By the way, what channel is it on, or does it switch channels every day or so?
-
depends on where you are at kevin

Oh I don't know about that ... Lance didn't seem to feel that way judging by the interview. If Lance kicks butt in the next stage (last mountain stage) then it might be in the bag, but if Ulrich stays close, we could be in for a thriller.
Does anybody remember the 1989 Tour de France ... everybody figured Fignon had it in the bag ...
"Those who saw it -- either from a vantage point on the Champs-Elysees or on television -- will never forget counting down the seconds as Laurent Fignon sprinted in vain to the finish line in the final time trial in Paris. LeMond had been at death's door after a shooting accident early in 1987 and was riding in his first Tour since winning in 1986.
After an incredible three weeks which saw the maillot jaune switch between the American and Frenchman, LeMond trailed Fignon by 50 seconds overall going into the final time trial in Paris. No one gave him much chance of clawing back that time in just 24.5 kilometers but the new triathlon-style handlebars were a distinct advantage as he beat Fignon by 58 seconds. After 3,285 kilometers of racing a mere eight seconds separated the two men overall. It doesn't get any more dramatic than that."
I watched that finish live ... it had to be the greatest athletic achivement in the history of sport.
-
Jan Ullrich, the 1997 Tour winner, is now 67 seconds back overall, giving Armstrong a more comfortable lead with five stages left. Ullrich, grimacing near the finish, started the day trailing by just 15 seconds. Armstrong crossed the finish line 40 seconds before Ullrich did -- and padded his lead by an additional 12 seconds thanks to a time bonus for winning the stage.
Lance Armstrong would not normally be recognized by most US citizens on the street but my 6 year old son has been mesmerized with this man. For the last 3 years my oldest son has all but idolized Lance Armstrong as a true sportsman and competitor. I have taught him not to put sports figures up there as role models and heroes but my son does with this guy and I tend to agree in this one case. BTW my 6 year old like Jan Ulrich as well.

Yes, outstanding book.
-
It's a rest day today in the Tour. Hopefully we will have another great stage tomorrow. Ulrich showed outstanding sportsmanship by holding up and waiting on Armstrong on Monday. If either of these men win the Tour I will be pleased.

in 2001 armstrong "soft pedaled" to wait for ulrich after ulrich crashed on a desent, yes they are both great sportsman.
to all the riders in the tour.
-
I finally got to watch Monday's stage. Incredible. He fell badly, then continued, then had a problem with his pedal and nearly "lost his manhood" as the announcer said, and he still dominated everybody. Patting the leader on the back as he cruised by, classic. He put another 50 seconds on Ullrich and I think the fat lady is going to sing soon.
-
WTG Hamilton!!!
Maybe another Tour winner in the future.
-
The coverage this year (in the U.S.) was the best its ever been. I think the sport has proven itself to be a capable contender for air time.
Oh... and... WTG LANCE! For someone with a name that gay to actually achieve 5 straight TDF wins is amazing.
