Is this another travesty of historical accuracy for a thick-as-pig-**** audience? :D

Doesn't look like it, given the language thing. Anyone speak fluent latin?

Looks interesting anyway.

Ad Deum qui letificat juventu tu meum... Confeteor Deo, omnipotem ti miserrere... Agnus Dei... Kyrie Eleison, Dominus vobiscum...Ite missa est - Deo gratius.

Thats some of the snatches of Latin I remember after 12 years of daily Mass before school, and having Latin drilled into my head to the tune of a wooden ruler, administered by the Sisters of The Immaculat Heart of Mary.

But I renounced the Catholic Church since the Pope chose to protect those sexual predators over protecting the flock.

I'm not religeous anyway. I can worship God better 10 miles offshore catching dolphin than I can in church. Still, I would attend Latin mass if it were being said around here. It is a beautiful thing. I'm definately going to see the The Passion. I'd like to hear how the language was actually spoken by Roman soldiers... its sure to be a refreshing change from the pap being shown at theaters lately...

Of course, they are only guessing on pronunciation.

I hope it's not another Kevin Costner deal, where he gets so caught up in his ideas he fails to see they are turkeys.

lol -  but how could it be a turkey? Its gonna have blood, guts and betrayal along with the supernatural   ... I understand Catholic priests have already been yelling and complaining that it depicts the crusafiction as too brutal (well doh!)

You are right about the pronunciations Dowding. It will be a "best guess." Even so, I've never heard latin spoken conversationally. I hope that they involved some scholars in this.

Catholism complaining about gory depiction? I thought they loved that kind of thing? :)

I did latin at school, but I've never been a linguist so dropped it and did something else as soon as I got the opportunity.

the life of brian is the only historically true biblical movie.

no ifs and or buts cause God told me it was true.
