Looking at the title, I thought this was Funked replying to a Quit Post.

I wonder how long it's gonna take before someone who goes and reads it is gonna come back and point out that the would be ex-pats in the article include gays, dope smokers and a puppeteer.
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled degenerate types yearning to breath free."
:)
-
"I don't want to stay and fight anymore. I can have that bittersweet love for my country from somewhere else."
Look! A voter!
-
Skimmed the article...
A puppeteer, a couple of gays who want go get married, and a brainwashed college student.
I say let 'em go. Good riddance.

They just arent leaving fast enough.
of 290+ million in the US less the 6k left for Canada in 2001. We picked up 30k Canucks.
There always a trade supplus.......
Canada please buy more puppeteers, gays, and brainwashed college students.
-
"brain washed college students" if they're thinking about moveing to canada they are proably more well read and wiser than you....
BTW I feel like tho's folks ..... Every day Bush is in office makes Canada look nicer and nicer ..... I'd say your quite ignorant
"Hodges, 21, complained about a 'neo-conservative shift' in the United States and praised Canada's approach to health care and education. " So do you know what he means by this.....do you know what he means by neo-conservative?
Do you realize Canadians actually spend money on education instead of spraying popey fields in Afganistan (you ever had a codine pill? Damn hipocrates) , instead of starting wars to secure oil, wealth and power for 'our' plutocracy. The US is turing into a type of facism... This article has some truth... http://www.newsday.com/news/opinion/ny-vpwol183376588jul18,0,3380237.story
and when was the last time you were even in canada? I was there last wed.
-
I'd love to move to Canada for the hunting and fishing, been up there for it before, but hunting is out and fishing is likely to follow soon.
-
Ahh yes, another Bush is Hitler article by a left wing tenured intellectual... Notice how all the fault of this totalitarianism is from conservatives and big business - are we all to belive the democrats are so powerless after having run the country for a decade and had a very poular president, or that they dont partake in "big" money excess or are influenced by lobbyists? Note another point he makes, the idea that the democratic party has shifted to the right, just smacks as another lament from a whiney extreme left wing liberal still stuck in the 1960s KGB corrupted mindset.

Obviously you didnt check out canada's education statistics on your trip north to buy weed...
Per student spending national average:
Canada: 2000-2001 school year - the math comes out to: $6,506 I'm assuming canadian dollars so of course in terms of USD this is much lower.
http://www.learning.gov.ab.ca/k_12/teaching/FactsStatics/budget.asp
USA: 1999-2000 school year - $6,853 USD
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002/05/23/school-spending.htm
But of course the evil Bosh has ruioned all this and even if he has not the USA is still evil and Canada is certainly much much better.
If you care mane, IMO the amount of $$$$$ spend on schooling means jack shiit if students dont acre and parents arent involved and you know where that neo hitler Bush stands on giving parents, especially minorities and inner city families, a chance to to care and be involved in their kids schooling life. We also know where democrats stand on that issue too, dont we?
-
Then what is keeping you in the US mane?
America sucks. The fact that 30k Canadians came to the US and at the same time 5k or so went to Canada means very little.
When you get done smoking dope and having gay sex their health system will fix you up and then they will educate you on how to do it right next time.
Head North! Utopia Awaits!!!
Federal Education System?
The states and counties do the "educating".
Health care for all? We all know that aint gonna happen in the US because most folks dont wanna pick up the tab for your weekend of dope smoking and gay sex.
You can stick stir your way up there anytime. Just keep sending those Canadian strippers down. Florida wont run out soon but we like to keep umm fresh.
-
Love it or leave it. Stupid college kids can let world politics bother them and stuff, but when it comes down to it, the U.S. is a really good place if you know how to enjoy yourself.
Some folks take up a hobby, others move to Canada.
-
That the best you got .... lol
the US suxs and is full of it.. Bush and this BS is just the last straw for some people ... we don't like Big Brother looking over our shoulder.... We don't like stupid drug laws, we don't like a lotta crap the US does and wastes our hard earned money on ..... it's alot more than the basic reasons I'm willing to cover here. But many of the reasons pre-date Bush.
And you obviously ignored that entire article based on a few of it's extreame views.... you don't read things man .... that was obviously a conjured response to anyone who even thinks of compareing the sick relation between bussniess and goverment as resembleing facism... even if some of it rings true... Maybe you'll note my description towards the link in the first place .. "has some truth"
and I hate the democrats almost as much as republican's ... but Rumsfield and Bush inc. are doing thing, after thing, after thing, after thing that I dislike.
Batz the best you can come up with is "gay sex pot smokeing" comebacks .... stupid child.... grow up man.
-
I can't believe for one second you'd want to leave Burlington it don't get any better, landscape anyhow. ;)
-
Best I got?
wtf are you talking about?
Are we trading something?
You said you like what the wanna be ex pats see in the utopia that is Canada. You hate America because Bush is president. You suggested Canada maybe a place for you.
extreme views ?
Just like yours, so you will have more then just gay sex in common.
So when are you leaving?

It's obvious that the college student has no idea what a neo-conservative is and it seems neither do the Democrats or the media in the U.S. Using neo-conservative to describe the fringe far-right conservative movement is incorrect.
Ack-Ack

Mane I hope that response wasnt directed totally at me.. I have been trying to be very nice in this thread and not make fun of people in the firstarticle.
The article you posted was full of extreme views, you cant get around them. Its basically saying that the USA is a facist country comporable to Nazi Germany.. Maybe you are offended at that viewpoint, as you should be, or you are offended that I point it out, but the author of that article is entirely comfortable in repeatedly drawing just such a comparsion - and that makes him an extremist. Furthermore the article he wrote spews with left wing bias and criticizm of the Democratic party for being too right wing these days- an intersting point of view as the leadership of democratic party has taken a sharp turn left from the bill clinton years - with far left leaders such as Nancy Pelosi and presidential candidate Howard Dean becoming more influntial. I'm sorry mane that article is little more than a left wing propaganda piece written by a disgruntled liberal college proffesor. You migh as well post something by Rush Limbaugh and you will get the same credibilty.
And as for you I thjink you are severly misinformed and just buy into vague left wing fantasies about canada. Like I pointed out their school per pupil spending is far lower than in America. And farnkly our hopeful emmigrants are just too naive - they view canada as some fanatsy caring left wing dreamland with nightly seances and teach ins. I'd love to see their reactions after a few years of looking for good employment or even dealing with a new set of social problems that I'm sure Canada must be dealing with as well. It is aprticularly intersting that 5-6 times as many Canadians a year are moving to the US as opposed to the otherway arounbd - thats even more astounding when you consider that the USA has almost 10 times the population...
So, and I do apologize for the cliche, if you think Canada is so great I suggest you go move up there right now - you're certinly free to do so, or at least until that evil tyrant Bush a wall around Amerika to keep everyone from running away to the bountiful lands up north...

Odds are in America...
According to 1990 US and 1993 Canadian figures:
USA: 57,152 Eskimo 23,797 Aleut
Canada: 33,000 Inuit
So there Eskimos prefer the USA over Canada...

That is only because(according to National Lampoon) our Inuit hunting season is much longer than yours.

Why move to Canada, Why not move to Mandew's state Vermont? I spent six weeks there a couple of years ago. I think there were two crimes reported while I was there. Yet it's quite a liberal state although everyone seemed to own a gun. The natives are friendly and the scenery is great. The nearest big city is Montreal if you feel you need to see Canada every now and then. I liked Montreal too but it was weird to be in a city that looked American but everyone spoke French.
How about that for a compromise?
-
Canada is cool, USA is cool. They both have strengths and weaknesses, but the countries are more similar then different. We just leech off the US military so we spend our military funding on welfare and health. If I had a green card, I would be in the US, as I have been offered jobs down there at substantial pay increases.
