Here is what is happening. I had lost a HD a little while back. It ran, some of the times and the others it fooled the mobo into thinking there was none in the unit. I replaced it and started all over again.
Now I get a problem in win, particularly in IE either 5.5 or 6.1. Second windows refuse to open at times and I get frequent errors with a page fault notice. This continues when I delete IE6.1 and revert to 5.5 to try and stay online. I also get lags in the system after a while. I have heard that there canb be a memory hiccupin Win98 but have no idea how to check for it or solve this problem.
Here is the system specs.
DFI AD77 Pro mobo with latest drivers from manufacturer loaded
512 megs RAM 266 DDR
PNY AGP nvidia MX400 64 meg vid card with later drivers (32.10)
Maxtor 30 Gig HD 7200 RPM Master
Maxtor 4 gig HD secondary slave
Polariod CD burner (secondary master)
floopy
win 98 SE
This is a problem as I am now getting ready to do the 4th HD format and reload in as many months over this. The one good thing is that I am getting good and starting my system up again. :(
HALP!!! how do I get the damn thing to stop glitching out???

Maverick - can you get to some holy water? Usually shakin a little bit onto the computer will help Win98SE/ IE6 probs :D
What kind of security do you use? It wouldn't be Norton's firewall would it? I heard that could cause probs in Win98se and IE 6.
IE 5.5 should be more stable for you. You might consider using Opera or one of the others for routine stuff and IE for certain other situations when you need it.
If its economically feasable, WinXP Home for $99 would solve that and make a whole lot of other things far easier... but you already know that.
