Can you guys tell me what settings you use with this card for AH?
the settings are fro DirectX as AH doesn't use OpenGL right?
Had something set which made the text buffer and icons blurry but the planes never looked better
if I have 512 of ram what should my agp apeture be set at?

I found that the AF (asiotropic filtering or something like that) setting caused the text to be blurry on my 9500 card (when I had it). Any amount caused fuzzy text, turning it off completely cured it.
Somewhere I saw Skuzzy posting that AH doesn't like AF at all and to leave it turned off.

I have the 9700pro here are my settings that look awesome in AH.
AA x4
AS x8
Texture Preference 100%
Mipmap detail 100%
Wait for Vsynch application preference
Truform 0%

Ditto. I have the same settings as Sunking for my 9800 Pro, and AH has never looked better. Using Catalyst 3.6 drivers. These are Direct 3D settings, Eagler.

You all using WinXp or Win98 or does it amtter, I should use same driver/settings for either OS?

Yes the game itself looks great using those settings but using a 9700 pro the text buffer and icon names and especially the map can be virtually unreadable.

I'm Running WinXP. With my 9800 Pro and those settings, no problems reading text or icons in AH.
In fact, the extra clarity seems to have helped my gunnery.

Using a 9800 Pro 256MB with the default settings using Cat 3.6 drivers.

yes, running xp here
had to turn off AS in order to read icons/messages clearly
what does AS do? Seems AA is what gets rid of the jaggy edges on the graphics, makin everything look smoother (AA set to 4x - limit of mb)

AF is what I believe you are asking about Eagler.
AF = Anisotrophic Filtering.
In 3D graphics there are several ways to improve textures when they are at various angles on the screen.
AF is the best for displaying sharp textures at angles, but really does not do much for a flight simulator, as most of the angled textures are at a long distance away, except for the terrain.
AF will cause the text in the radio bar to be blurred as it is simply overkill to apply it to text.

I run 1600x1200, 32-bit color, 6XAA, and 16XAF and it looks great, with framerates never deviating from their max of 85 (my monitor refresh rate). In my opinion, the game looks decidedly better with AA and AF, and, for some reason, the text looks crisper at 16XAF than at 4 or 8X (although still not as crisp as when AF is disabled--i.e., with anisotropic filtering set to "application preference" in the D3D tab of the ATI control panel). Indeed, I'd say that AF is almost a necessity on some of the maps (e.g., AK Desert), because without it the terrain shimmer can be overwhelming. Even if you decide that you can't handle the text blur from AF, AA really cleans up the cockpit "jaggies."
