I am going to put this guys handle out for everyone to see. I feel I should inform the community about this guy.
I was attempting to capture a145 and after taking out the vh I began my vulching pattern. Well i got about 5 and along comes Mavrik01 over vox telling me I have no honor because I kept vulching him. I basically tell him he should up from another field. He goes on and on then ask me if I was afraid to fight. So I asked if he wanted to go to DA and find out. He accepts so off to DA we go.
After setting the rules we up. The first strange thing I noticed is he heads east instaed of north to meet me. He's talking a little trash. Ok no prob. We merge I loop he dies. He congrats me. I ask if he wanted to go again to give him a sporting chance. He accepts. Again he heads east...hmm interesting.
He begins to make small talk.. Asked where I was from I say cali...
he says "I can tell by your IP address"...HUH????? I wonder how he sees that. Well I ask wheres he going he told me to fly my game and he'll fly his. Ok back to talking trash no prob. We merge go around a few times I shoot him down. Congrats me again. I tell him its been fun but Im going back to MA to vulch. He then tell me that I was on just long enough and that I should check my hard drive.....OKAY!!!!! Now thats strange.....
Those VMF222 guys need to have this dude checked out...
Should I be worried?????
-
No, I think I shot him down a couple of times in the CT. I know little about the interweb junk, but I don't think you should be worried, sounds like a 12 year old to me.
-
No need to be worried...
I've met him last night in the MA he helped me end a P51 wich was pretty undamaged ...
The P51 was still having it's left wing , leaking fuel and oil.
I guess he was smoking to hide itself and to egress safely :p
I was pissed ...
But a lot less than the minute after when I experimented for the 2nd time the 1st wire rollback :D

What does that mean straffo?

He was just a lame head trying to scare you, and he managed a little. Well who wouldnt be, thats why I never go to DA after pissing somone off.
They talk all kinda bull****e and lies.
Well you could always check your HD with a antivirus program just in case.

You land a bit too hard (I'm a violent dweeb ya know ;)) and just after catching the 1st wire you are slammed back to the sea :)
The last think you see is the stern of the CV going away :p

Thank God this happens to others..er I mean now I know what the problem is. Never had a problem landing on CVs until recently. Couldn't figure out why I was being thrown off the back. So the idea is to land gently as possible, near the end (rear) of the boat as possible or first couple of trip wires as far back as possible?
Asked about this several months back in the "Help and Training" forum and nobody knew what the problem is. Feel much better now. Thanks straffo! ;)

sounds like a little baby on AOL. hate those types of kids who try to use scare tatics.
if you want there a free month trial of Zone Alarm (no CC needed).
ZONE ALARM (http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/promotions/securityCenter/index3.html)

not exactly, there is allways a possibility that or other way... but not for a kid playing AH from home :)
[don't get me wrong.. playing AH is safe :) way more then playing Quake, Il-2, UT or most of on-line games]
i seriously doubt that guy could do anything to you. IF the guy knew your real IP address he could get your theoratical location - no biggie.
Here is one good thing you should do no matter what - use a firewall. there are a lot of good personal firewalls that you can download and that are a FREEWARE (check a http://www.webattack.com for example). then you coudl add a AV software (to be sure you are not accepting trojan horses) and update your PC with windows update thiong - then you have your 99% that you are safe :)

ty :)
I guess that's why IRL they go for the 3rd wire ,there are perhaps other reasons I don't know ...
-
Naw this was a grown donut man talking to me it sounded like. I have zonealarm and i keep it running all the time when im online.
Getting tossed over the back always happens to me... It just did 10 min ago
-
There's no worry. Just sounds like someone that got a little bitter about being vulched and tried to put a little fear into you.
Ack-Ack
-
How did he contact you over vox?
-
using ".radio 5 jamusta" ?
Didn't know it worked across country
-
.radio 5 jamusta
You can tune anyone personal.
It has the advantage of bypassing the language filters. And unless the other guy has film rolling you can say anything and get away with it.
-
Can you not squelch them at that point?
-
Ruh roh, Jam, he gunna getchoo! ;) I wouldnt worry.
I always have BlackICE running, it can kinda make you paranoid since it flashes so damn much.
-
You have nothing to worry about.
-
The connection you have is between you and the AH server only.
The connection he has is between him and the AH server only.
At no time does traffic travel directly from him to you or visa versa.
The AH server is essentially masking your IP address.
Hes full of ****.

I thought running stuff in the background slowed the game? And does that program work with XP home ed.? Cause I had a basketfull of problems with Zone Alarm and had to stop using it, i've been looking for a something similar ever since.

What is BlackICE?

Airbumba,
You can enable xp home's own firewall. It works well, I have found no need for zone alarm.

You have no direct connection to any computer other than the AH server. If you do a hth room, then another user would be able to identify your (the hth server's) ip address, but not under any other circumstances.
Each user communicates to the server, not to each other. The server acts as a go-between. The packets from the server to you don't contain any information about the other users' ip addresses.

A highly paranoid firewall... but it works! :)

yepper, black ice is an firewall program, works well but the interface is much more difficult to read than zone alarm. I have black ice in a drawer, am running zonealarm. The performance hit for a firewall program is no biggie, much better to have your IP address hidden while you are on line. I find AH much more enjoyable when channel 1 is squelched. I only unsquelch to congrat someone for a good fight, otherwise the bull*&*$ you hear gets old fast.

I've had personal experience of someone in another country tuning me on vox. It was not a pleasant experience and extremely intimidating.... fortunately, I did have film rolling at the time.
