Wow!!! Drooooool... Imagine how far and fast you could run, err, "extend" with one of those babies.

"That was some of the best flying I've seen yet, right up until the point where you got killed."

There's one slight problem. The Twin Mustang was not just two P-51 joined at the wing, as that screen shot shows.

Hmmm... That was what they actually did - added mid section and horiz stab... so basically and truly it was 90% P51 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) times 2 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Nope the P82 fuselages were completely 100% different than the P51s, they were quite a bit longer and had many other structural differences. It wasnt a P51X 2 by a long shot, plus P82s used Allison engines while P51 had RR/Packard Merlins.
-
I have to find out more about it, as you might be right (I think you are (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) ) anyway that little that I knew about p82 was that when they started the project XP-82 they removed left and right console of the wing respectfully from 2 A/C P51's... also they took off both stabs...
Next thing I know that there was order for 500 P-82B (may be the B version was reworked from original concept? will look for it tomorrow) but were build at first only 20, among wich 3 were used as night fighters C and D models... Next order was for 250 fighters in 1946 - and bla-bla-bla (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
So it might be that original concept was actual p51, without any structural changes and longer fuselage, itself that was used as prototype...

What game is that picture from?
Wilbus

Given what the F-82 was designed for, it was each fuselage section is 1/4th large then the actual P-51 for more internal fuel storage.
The panel lines are different, as well as most other components, including the tail and most of the internal systems.

"Vaporware?"
Hardly! We've been flying an early build and following the progress of this one very closely since January. It's far from "vaporware"!
It would actually be released as of now if not for Victory wanting to get more real racers on board... and on board they are!
I personally talked with two last week and have talked with many others (racers) and the feeling among them is excitment.
Again, far from vaporware, this one is nearing release stage, has some notable racers on-board and more coming on daily. It's officially sanctioned by the Reno Air Race Association and is as close to "NASCAR" of the skies as we'll ever get...
Watch http://www.xtremeairracing.com/ (http://www.xtremeairracing.com/) and http://www.aafo.com/ (http://www.aafo.com/) for news on "what's happenin'" with this one..
Vaporwarenot!

LOL, all you have to do is say VAPORWARE and the closet BBS readers come out of hiding! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

It's not due for release until September... until then, I'd call it vapor.
-
hmm, maybe it is just my interpretation, but I thought vaporware was a software title that was already cancelled or only had a snowball's chance in hell of ever being released. Just semantics I guess. *shrugs*
