Daddy (of Warbirds) is trying to kick together a little 8 vs. 8, WB vs AH. This is intended to be F-R-I-E-N-D-L-Y. Are there any AH players without WB experience (or with little) that would be interested? There's talk of short comped accounts for the event... and would certainly be something positive for the flight sim community right when it needs it...
-
I played WB and AH so that disqualifies me I guess. Besides I dont have an AH account right now, not much time for gaming either. GetSome! Kieren.
:D
-
I'd suggest getting ahold of the following which have little WB3.0 experience:
Drex
Fester
Frenchy
ManeTMP
Faris
Swoop
Cavalear
:D
After all, this *is* "Aces" high!
-
I've never done Warbirds. Went from AW to AH. Took me 4 months to finally get a positive K/D ratio in a particular plane, though. Not sure how much of a contribution I'd make for my team.
-
WT comes to mind as well. I don't think he ever played WB but I don't think that would hinder him in the least.
-
I never played WB... but then sometimes I'm not very friendly, either. :)
-
Get Zazen .. think he went straight from AW to AH.

Where would you hold this competition? I mean in which flight sim, AH or WB?

I'm assuming both, right Kieren?

Could this possibly be a last desperate attempt to find some new blood? After all, it's probably getting boring with only the same 8 guys in the arena every night.
;)
-
/\You know me, I wouldn't post this if I thought it was. No, I think this was an honest attempt by Daddy to try to help bring the communities together.
Yes, it would be held in both venues.

Um, the communities have never got along better before, if you use AGW as a baseline (Shrugs) Maybe its just Daddy that needs to come together? (Shrugs)

Rip, is there really any need for animosity? What is the harm in a little competition?
-
just dont give ien your cc number, takes forever to cancel and get it straightened out :p
If you ah'rs win you may get sued so watch it. Maybe sign a release just in case.

No animosity, just saying, we're getting along great! I think Daddy is a great guy! (He's a pony Dweeb, but still, I don't hold that against him! :p )

I'll fight. I've never even downloaded WB.
-
why do you have to have zero exp in either sim?
-
I'll do it, but I do suck. Anyhow, the last time I upped a plane in Warbirds was like '97 or '98.
SOB
-
Count me in, I'll fight.
DL'd Warbirds once last year and gave it a whirl offline.
-
hmmm... I have about 20 mins experience with mushbirds....
tho i've not flown AH in about 3-4 months... (means with my luck i'd do pretty well +)
Though atm my stick is abit flakey

Sounds like a hoot.
Yeah, I'm in if there's room and ya want me. I have hardly any WBs time. I flew it for two months back when it was 2 bucks an hour, and my cc bill for WBs was about 120 bucks if I remember that right.
-
Never flown Warbirds...
I am in if ya want.
-
Ok, I posted back at AGW. It's Daddy's show, so you may want to contact him or post in This Thread (http://agw.warbirdsiii.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22829) .

I've never played Warbirds.
Been to a WB convention, but I've never played a day of it in my life.

-
I don't think the outcome is gonna be even close. Not by a long shot. I just don't see it. The only struggle is going to be trying to keep a straight face and acting all sportsmanlike about it. Just as long as we keep away from the vox key when laughing we should be ok.
"Good game. It could have gone either way. I know it was 10-0... but each of those matches were so close that it's not really a good indication of what happened out there. " Mppphhhhhh bwahaha.
Hey you WBers reading this... Yer shrecked! You hear that? Just shrecked! :p

It's true though. :) I live in North Carolina, and when the NC Warbirds convention came to town, I dropped by to hang out with FunkedUp, fd-ski, and various other Aces High folks I knew. As an added bonus, I got to drive Gabby Gabreski around town for the weekend.

I can vouch for Tard err Todd. :)
-
What's this WB crap?
-
Only ever flown in WB3 a year or so ago on a free weekend. I wouldn't mind joining in.:)
-
Lets see who becomes the first "Ace" (five marketing "kills").......
(Brought to you by the WarBirds Player Investment & Marketing Program)
Now it's a marketing program?
-
You AH guys would get spanked cause the WB guys have experience of fighting different people from different sims. Sheeesh, if WB suddenly closed down and all the WB pilots migrated to AH it'd take less than a week for the WB crowd to rule the skies of Aces High. Face it- (in thick Chinese accent) Aces High Karate not as good as War Birds Kung Fu.

to bad the 8 v 8 cant go h2h in Target Rabaul. It would be a neat promotion. That way there could be no complaints about fm and experience.
-
Whaddya mean you don't want anyone whose flown WB before?
If you exclude all the ex-Warbirders from that list, then this is really nothing but a WB vs. AW competition, isn't it?
-
bananas right...you do it the right way...8 of em come to our house, and fight, 8 of us go to their house and fight. Best out of 10, regardless of experience in either sim.
Kek, you haven't lost your touch!
if WB suddenly closed down and all the WB pilots migrated to AH it'd take less than a week for the WB crowd to rule the skies of Aces High.

Greetings gentlemen
It is nice to see so many old friends again. I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks Kieran for helping get the word out.
Fwiw, I ain't doing this for IeN, Marketing or bla bla bla. I'm way to selfish for that. I just thought it would be neat to have a duel between two communities. Having a fun time is all that matters, so I hope that we all can embrace this rare opportunity to interact online with the 'other side'.
I posted on AGW a draft of the rules/setup. Please feel free to comment. What we need is for an AH individual to be their team captain. Also we need an arena in AH, with a few folks to act as referees. This I will leave up to y'all.
turo has agreed to be the mediator. He is neutral and hasn't played either game.
cheers and thanks in advance

Too Bad about the "Only players who havnt played the other sim" rule,
not only does it exclude many of the guys who really enjoy
both flight sim's,
It will be more difficult for the visiting team to get the game set-up correct
Btw Nash, I wouldnt bet on that :p

cooley and gents
Suggest y'all read my post on AGW where as I disregard the issue of X- wbers flying for AH. Most of us in Wbs are not that familiar with AH. Where as most of the good sticks in AH came from warbirds.
However, lets just have fun. I will leave it up to the AH captain to do what he wants.
cheers
-
I would like to take part too, if there are any spaces left! I never even downloaded warbirds.
-
Hehe man you guys are good. :) Can't slip anything by y'all, (except rip LOL). Airhead posted the exact same thing (replace WB with AH and vice versa) so I thought I'd try to fish with his bait for fun. No good bites in this pond...
I hope all those involved with the WB vs Ah duel will have a blast. Should help to mend a fence or two. to daddy= for initiating this idea.

Ok, so who's the AH team Captain and do ya want a CM to set up the SEA?
-
I don't think any of the players on the list that rip made would qualify under daddies rules... in fact.. daddy played here for the free 2 weeks and that is probly why he made the rule "3 weeks" what he is really after is AW vs WB not AH vs WB. Most of the guys that are good in AH got bored with WB long ago and after beating everyone in WB came to AH.
Either open the contest to any WB AH player or make it so that you can never have even seen the other sim or.... the smart thing... don't even bother.
But... if it is to be the AW vs WB thing that daddy wants.... leviathn will be glad to spank 2 or three WB sky accountants at a time.

Any WB player participating in this, that does not have an account in AH, and has any problems getting a two week trial, please drop me an email at support@hitechcreations.com so we can accomodate this.
If it needs to run longer than 2 weeks, let us know. We will see what we can work out.
Swoop, if you guys want to use the SEA, it is okay by us. I might suggest using one of the small MA maps, as they have been fleshed out pretty well. Just a thought.

In if needed. Never flown WB.

I need a trial lasting approximately 2 years skuzzy, is this able to be worked out? :D

Given the backlog in the American legal system Furball,..that should be no problem. :D

Flew AW, tried WB briefly and currently do AH. Suck at all 3. In if needed. :)

The other issues are:
The times listed by Daddy on the AGW site conflict with the Friday Squadops.
& 10pm EST rules out any European pilots from taking part unless they regularly stay up flying til 5am.
-
Once you pick the ten players, I would more than willing (love to) be part of a practice team (second string) to duel with the first string if they want to get some time in flying togther.
If anyone on the first string can't make the fight when the match is here at AH, a second string pilot could fill in ?

Flossy just posted on the other site that she might be able to use the Combat Theater instead of the SEA for the conflicts.
-
Be easier just to change the time to daytime US over a weekend. Besides the issues of setting up the CT with all the aircraft needed there's still the issue of European players not wanting to take part at 5am.

Laz, get help man !
Its not too late...
-
OK found this thread now. Skuzzy has asked me to coordinate things at this end and supply Setup CMs. As Swoop has already said, most of the times listed do conflict with events already taking place in the Special Events Arena. Friday at that time is actually King Of The Hill on August 1st, Saturday has the CAP happening at 1730 Eastern, but the arena will need to be free for setting up from around 1630 Eastern. Sunday is the Sunday SquadOps at 1500 Eastern.
Skuzzy has suggested we use the CT, but of course this would have to be with the agreement of the CT Staff and there is a slight snag at the moment that few CMs have privs in the CT arena - I know I don't, but I daresay that could be sorted out - if the CT Team are agreeable.
Otherwise, I can only suggest a change in the times/days? Ready and willing.... not yet able. :)

Skuzzy, thanks for the support. I will pass it on to the Wbs team. Much appreciated sir.
Swoopy, I hope these times can be worked with for AH. I realize they may form a bit of an inconvenience for some players, but there really isn't any other times/days I/wbs can structure it.

So uh, who's the cap'n?
I volunteer to be the team mascot.

lazs, why don't you help out and volunteer to be the captain for AH. Someone needs to take this task.
Oh and btw silly boy we were always on the same side thus we never fought each other.
-
I would say that the BK's, the assasins and the Tas could probly fill out the roles with unbeatable pilots all by themselves. Course they would all (or allmost all)be former WB pilots who left WB cause they couldn't stand it any longer.
We better get a move on tho cause if we wait much longer it might be difficult for WB to come up with 8-10 guys of any skill level.

I migrated from European Air War to Aces High. My K/D was usually quite high (8/1 or so on average IIRC). Once I can afford new rudders and throttle I'll be back.
This means that EAWers kick both AHers and WBers arses.
Because AH and WB are so simple and unrealistic compared to EAW.
Seriously, this is a very good idea. Hopefully the good vibe can be kept thorough the duelling and afterwards - and maybe some mutual respect can be built.
As long as you know that ex-EAWers are superior in any flight sim to AHers or WBers. Just ask Ripsnort who tested me on my very first night in AH; I absolutely dominated him. Almost.

Ya ain't wrong :D
However, you realise a lot of EAWs went to WB as well......like Sav and the 56th, Scorpion from No1 RAF, etc.
And then was Udie who came to EAW from WB and kicked everyones arses.

I think we got it...

nash... maybe, maybe not. we will see. If you don't get it you will be sorry.
lazs
-
We'll be sorry? You think we have that much to worry about from the WB guys? :)
But... I don't think there's anyone who's flown AH for any amount of time that isn't aware of just how good Drex and Lev are. For that to be, they must not have run into eachother in the skies of AH yet. You're not in the same league Lazs (who is?) but you're no slouch yourself.
-
Perhaps if enough AH and WB people are interested we could have a European friendly time slot for a 2nd match up?
Also what about having a similar challenge vs the Fighter Ace guys who fly the realistic level 10 flight model?
-
While we're at it why not do the same with FB?
-
I've known Drex for close to 10 years now - he's not one to contend with. He killed my bellybutton in a F6F when I tried to jump him in my 38.

Exactly... But i felt if were naming squaddies that kick arse, mine should be on the list too ;)
-
Haven't flown WB in about two years, but I'd definitely like the opportunity to compete...
As far as competent squaddies..... HBlair, ManeTMP, Gurge, Pongo, Soda, Lizard3, etc.... any Assassin will do!
However, (excerpted from Max's notes to self after the squad V squad duel with the 13th TAS) IMHO teamwork is equally as important as individual skill, probably more so....
There needs to be a quick decision as to whom will fly, and a group of alternates (good sticks too) so that our guys can practice.
I nominate the squad CO of the 13th or the AKs to CO our team (would nominatemine, but he isn't flying much lately), as both are tactically sound squads.
-
Why has no one put festers name in the mix of the best pilots.
Well quess i just did
-
No offence intended Todd, just figgured if everyone's squaddies were getting slammed by your CO I'd stick up for them and slam back :D
I could probably name 100 pilots who could do well in this thing. A good combination of spin dweebs and smart pilots would be the best combination, and contrary to lazs's belief, not all of the best spindweebs are in the BK's.
And if lazs wants to throw **** at someone, feel free to pick me. As I could care less what that little deck molestor thinks.

Please accept my sincere apology for the current state of our website. While we try our hardest to add quality content ... yadda yadda yadda.
The site does what we need it to do. It was put up for members of the squad with the requirement of having a forum, no insulting content to other squads, and to let old friends who we used to fly with know how to get in touch with us again. I think the site took a whole 4 hours to make, so your comments are probably quite accurate. I code for a company that writes client server applications, so find it difficult to come home and code for any lengths of time.
Keep being the forum poodle barking at each new thread knocking at the door if you like. If it weren't for your comments here, I'm certain few people would have known about you at all. Plus, with the amount of crap you post, you must be doing a great service to Hitech by load testing his forum database.

Oh and Lazs, since you're an expert at websites, please feel free to leave me the link to the squad website you created. I might be able to get some tips and insight from it.

LOL, thnx for the vote of confidence but I am just not in the "elite," "great", and/or "excellent" category. I'm just okay but there are just so many better than I.
What I find discouraging is that something that is supposed to bring both communities together seems to be turning into a pissing match.

Suggestion.
Why don't we have AH players submit their top 10-20 AH players?
The AH Team captain can then choose the main 8 and also add several as alternates.
That would seem to be the best way to choose a team based on an AH democratic system.
