It's on!
And yrs truly will be doing the slog work.
So, we need a victim to be team captain and a list of competitors. If you want in pls post in this thread and indicate if you'd like to act as team captain.
Times are still being talked about but right now it looks like the AH duels will be around 5pm EST on a saturday so European pilots can also attend without risking divorce. Once we have a captain, whoever it may be can talk planesets with Daddy.

-
I can think of many many many pilots better than me though. Put me on the 'reserve' list or something.
Gatso
-
I'm not looking to be Captain, but I'd love to fly. Never played 1 sec of WB.
-
I would like to take part (but not as captain :)), dont mind being reserve if there are better pilots available either.
-
I'm interested.
Just like Furball though, if there's no room or whatever then a reserve or practise drone is cool with me.
-
Sign me up. However, hand the Captain's hat to someone else please. :)
-
im interested since i used to play warbirds. although there are many that are better than me. how about some more details? or is this still in the pot cooking?
-
Waiting for a Captain to volunteer.

hehe thx! but 3 lucky rounds doesn't make me any better than anyone else here.
As for the captain, maybe we could get a CO from one of the squads to do it.
-
I'll see what I can do Swoop. The problem is that I have very limited time. What saturday is it? What does a Captain needs to do? Do we fly P47? :D
-
Frenchy,
Captain just needs to negotiate the planeset with Daddy over at WB and pick the team. :) If you wanna be Captain then of course you can request the P47......in fact after the last month's practice I've had I'd be very pleased if you did ;).
The exact dates are yet to be decided, which is another reason I'd like to sort out a captain quickly.
-
I have to jet to work, I'll chat w/u later.:(
I'll take care of that Swoop, I think we should fly planes specific to AH, any experienced sim pilot can fly a spit for example.
We have to pick planes that are both in WB and AH I guess?
-
No reason why we can't have diff planes in every round, the WB rounds could have planes unique to WB I suppose.....
Could even make the final round (in AH) a "fly anything" round.
-
Frenchy the P47 is Warbirds as an absolute freaking dog:(
-
IN.
And I'm still volunteering for Mascot.
-
Ooh yes please. Some1 else can be captain kirk tho:)
Never ever played WB.
-
Count me in if there is room..
Go AH'ers!
-
Any room for me?
-
I want too :-)
-
Signed up so far:
Frenchy (considering being team Captain)
rpm371
Furball
GrimCO
Bigsky
Octavius
Gremlin
Steve
Thrila
Freeze
& Me
Gatso (reserve)
Nash (reserve)
EDIT: This is NOT the final list.

Everyone seems to be only talking about Saturday, but only Rounds 3 and 4 are on Saturday. Do you all realise that it is the best of 5 rounds, played over 3 days? Rounds 1 and 2 here in AH on Friday August 1, 2200 Eastern. Rounds 3 and 4 on Saturday August 2 are in WB, and the final Round 5 is at 1500 Eastern here in AH on Sunday. Saturday's time may have been changed from 2200 Eastern, but that is only 2 rounds..... Hope we are all on the same page here. :)
-
In case anyone hasn't seen it, here is a copy of paste of Daddy's post giving the details in the WB forums:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gentlemen of AH vrs the Gents of WBs...duel
The challenge has been set and well received by the player base of AH. This duel will be the first inter-sim duel
This duel has nothing to do with the IeN or HTC, and is purely driven by the players of each community. Thus, enjoyment and having a positive experience is the most important aspect of this event.
The participants of this duel can easily setup an account in either AH or WB. It is the responsibility of each person to handle their own accounts.
At first I felt that it would be unfair of AH folks (X-Warbirders) to participate simply because they are familiar with both games, where as most of the Warbird players are not familiar with AH. Even though this may be the case, it's not like we are getting paid or this is the World Series, so perhaps we should just allow AH members to make this call. Either way is OK with me. As long as we all have fun, then everything else is trivial. Lets agree to let the AH folks determine this issue.
Turo has volunteered to be the mediator and for that we are thankful. Any issues will be resolved by him.
Each round should have two other referees(hosts). One per side to help answer questions and ensure that the rules are being followed. Would be best if CMs could volunteer their time to work with us.
Best 3 out of 5 Rounds
Rounds 1,2, and 5 are in AH
Rounds 3 and 4 in WBs.
Round 1 & 2
Friday August 1 10pm EDT
AH Arena (TBD)
10 players from each side (suggest we prepare alternates in case of no-shows)
15k Airstart
15k Merge Alt
Prior to Merge All ac must be within D45(wbs scale) of it's team captain. This ensures a proper merge.
Fuel for AH (TBD?)
Fight is active til last man
Discos can not replane
Planes??(TBD) We need to use consistent planes that both Warbirds and AH offers. It's going to be difficult enough to learn a new game and adding a new a/c type makes this even more difficult. I think it is best if the 2 sides had the exact same a/c. For example 4 p51B/D, 4 Spitfire IX, and 4 190D? Thoughts?
Round 3 and 4
Saturday August 2 10pm EDT
WBs, TA
Round 5
Sunday 3pm EDT
AH
Special thanks to Kieren for being the AH Ambassador and doing so as a gentlemen in good faith.
Cheers

Swoop drop me put please ill be not in town this weekend. DAMN i thought i would be later. Sorry :( :(
-
Yo! Hold the phone!! :D
When I said I'd be a reserve if there's no room, I meant that I'd be a reserve if there's no room. :) It was in case I missed another thread somewhere (I barely read the General Discussion forum) where ya already had 8 guys signed up, then I'd be fine with a reserve spot. But if *this* is it and the teams weren't yet full, then please sign me up for the real thing. I'm 4th to raise my hand in this thread... is that good 'nuff for being put on the main list?
Edit: Deleted the rest of the post. Just noticed that the fight is next week. Definitley not enough time for what I had in mind.

I would love to do this. Seems like a lot of fun. Sign me up.

Can I make a suggestion? (Do I understand correctly that Turro is overseeing the event?)
Here goes....
The event is scheduled for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd, and I think the time frame is a bit on the ambitious side...
Off the top of my head, that gives us about 5 days to:
Sort out the teams
Get everyone's accounts comped and set up by HTC and Ien
Download and install the game (WB's if yer an AHer, and visa versa)
Get our sticks set up
Become at least somewhat familiar with the games (eg. the interface for navigating to the proper arenas, loading out the planes, moving to the correct fields etc. Some of us are clueless)
Get the Refs on board and scheduled
Get the arenas squared away (eg. arranging with the CT team in AH (if in that arena); taking care of any terrain issues)
Decide on the planes, finalize the format and rules
Get the team prepared, if desired (practises or tactics discussions/creation)
Give everyone involved enough notice (event runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday... people might need more time to arrange for this)
.............. You can take the guy out of the CM world, but you can't take the CM out of the guy.... Or something like that. :) As a former one, I know 1st hand how complicated even the most simple seeming events can be. I may be leaving some things off the list above, but everything on it will need to be done (with the exception of practises perhaps).
So finally, my suggestion. How about moving it back 1 week, and running it on the 8th, 9th & 10th?
Respectfully.
-
I see Rip kindly offered my name up as a possible in the other thread but i am not interested.
As much as the competition appeals i will not get up and play at 5am for anybody.
I will not (boy did i wanna put that bold and underlined) ever download or install WB.
I wish all participants well but obviously want the AH guys to kick butt :)
Just think when all those interested install WB old WBS himself is gonna think WB has turned the corner and is on the up.
Have fun all and exscuse me while i crawl back into obscurity.
-
would love to get in on this... but this got rolling to fast ... gonna be out of town next weekend... yell if plan's change and maybe get rolled back a couple of weeks....
-
Isn't having 3 rounds in 1 game and 2 rounds in the other gonna bias the results in favour of the 3 rounder game? Wouldn't 2 or 3 in each be better?

well warbirds threw down the glove. this would only matter in case of a ty. that three week rule in the other sim rule seems a bit wrong. because that only pertained to online play. and how are we supposed to check AH H2H play. i my self have 15 to 20 hours in warbirds3. i tryed it before i left to play aces high, but that was a year ago. they still havent stipulated weather its wbs2 or wb3 that we are supposed to go fight in. i assume its warbirds 3. in any case wbs3 or 2 has no vox built in. so we would have to get rodger wilco or team speak set up before hand. just my thoughts guys.
-
Did anyone sign up for team captain yet? I've got tons of free time over the next couple of weeks it turns out. Not that I think it's going to require it or is going to amount to very much effort at all, but I'll sign up for that if nobody has.

22:00 eastern is 3am. I can make that, but jeez I wish i didnt have to. Just created my WB account and downloading the software now so I can at least know how it works and what the keys are:)
Would be a hell of a lot better if this ran at 22:00 est on Sat and Sun that would mean no-one would have to play at ungodly hours. Its even worse for you swoop, your 6 hours ahead of est right?

I think we need to nominate a few from each of the really good squads and hone that list down, then put on the peer pressure to ensure they show up.
I nominate:
Hblair :)
Regurge
Mane
Bigmax
Kappa
Shane
Drex
couple good AK's
couple of 13th
Furball already mentioned
Furious
Mathdweeb
I know I've missed allot of trully great sticks and squads, but my mind fails me.
We do need to put our best foot forward for something with bragging rights into the next century. We have to have someone better than Nash fer crissakes.:D

If anyone needs to be pressurised into showing up then we dont need em. I'd much rather see a group of willing guys than a list of whos who of AH.
-
Last thing in the world we need is the bad vibes that resulted from the first Axis/Allies Rumble. If guys want to sign up, let 'em... don't pressure anyone to do anything they don't want to do.
And above all, keep it fun...
-
you guys are picking some guys that will get slaughtered. I suggest that the captain ask that everyone who wants to participate submit a film.
I have a ten kill film that leviathn made where he is never at better than 4/1 odds against him and mostly 6 or more to 1.
Drex also has some very educational films as does hoolign.
lazs
-
I would like to take part in this, but I have a prior commiment during the Saturday rounds (one of my best friends is getting married that day and the reception is looking to be quite enjoyable - open bar).
If you guys need someone to shoot at for practice, let me know.
-
Lol Liz that does it! You and me. Outside by the bike racks. 3:30 after school!
:D
-
you are second string if you aren't drex or leviathn.
lazs

You're going to have to take me out of the sign up. I didn't realize this was going down on August 1st, and I will be in the process of moving at that time.
Sorry fellas, I was looking forward to it too :(

Yes, Wldthing, they're good. Kinda the "good" that defines what "good" means...

Lazs quote" you guys are picking some guys that will get slaughtered. "
Cool Lazs, may I have the winning numbers for Wednesday's Powerball?
It's nice to be acquainted w/ someone who knows how things will work out, ahead of time.
Thanks, in advance.

wildthing and steve.... don't get huffy cause nobody mentioned you but they did mention drex and leviathn... the reason is simple and no slur on you guys...
you simply aren't in the same league.
lazs

Oh.. and steve... I flew WB for years.. a lot of the guys that will fly for them I have flown against. Drex and Leviathn are in my squad. When there are large disparities of skill level it is not difficult to predict outcomes.
lazs
-
Lazs, I really didn't take it that way.. and I do recognize that Drex and Todd and exceptional, but that doesn't mean your "second string" would be slaughtered(that was my point, really). There were some excellent pilots mentioned above and beyond those two. Heck, you mentioned a few notables yourself.
Ya know, there are 5 rounds. I think AH has enough very good pilots.. why does it have to be the same 8 every time? I know Daddy asked that we select 8, but I am willing to bet more than just the best 8 sticks in AH could hand it to the WB'ers.
I mean, take your list, Lazs, and Lizard's... man there are some great sticks there... more than 8.
:)
-
Yep.. there are. I have just noticed over the years that in any duel you need guys with a lot of experiance in slogging it out and keeping track of multiple bogeys... I think you need guys that don't need energy advantage to win. Sometimes a guy who is a great stick 1 vs 1 in fast planes is not a good choice for this kinda thing because it's over before he can even get set up.
lazs
-
I am not as good as most of those mentioned, but I sure would enjoy an oppertunity to participate.
Lazs- You sure have a way of cutting through the muck to get to the mire.
-
ammo would do ok.
lazs
-
This really does sound like fun, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to make the Sunday duel, and the 10pm duels on Friday and Saturday cut it really close for me as well.
I would, of course, be happy to help as an alternate or to form a training squad to fly against the varsity guys.

Todd, here is another good reason to have more than 8 peeps. You can make a couple, but not all. The fights will be 8 vs 8. but why limit the roster to 8 people? Mathman has the same problem. Would be a shame to exclude such willing and worthy folk because they cannot make one or two of the appointments. If I make the roster, I'll be happy to share my "slot" with either of you guys when you can make it.
Lazs, while I'm still learning the game, I think perhaps you underestimate me... you refer to slogging it out, keeping track of multiple bogs... etc. ... you even mention SA. some of my peers have said: "Steve have awsome SA , and he one of the best 51 pilot in the game"
"Don't lose sight of this guy, or he'll make ya pay.He an Excellent 51 pilot with Superb SA.If you think he's gonna give you a shot on him, think again, and if you get one on him, you better make it quick, cause you won't get another."
Here is the link for complete comments:
http://pilotrankings.airwarrior.furballcentral.com/rank.phtml?option=view&pilotid=50
Yes, these were AW days, but SA is applied in much the same way here, in AH.. a much better game. :)
These were written by opponents, some of the comments were written by teammates. Ya it's tooting my own horn, I apologize. I'm not as good as Drex or Todd.. but I might be one day.. I'll have been in the game for a year this August. :)
I'm working on it.
I don't know the WB guys, but they must be truly talented and experienced indeed if they all are on a par with say.. Drex.
I wouldn't be upset if I didn't fly... as long as we win. ;)
-
Word of advice to the ones doing the duel... Do an long extension on the merge... Djust keep on flying and gain some alt before engaging...
Split up in groups of 4, one group extend hi to the left and one group hi to the right...

That sounds boring.
I can guarantee you that its more boring to be dead in 2 mins... Dont expect this to turn into an furball directly after the merge...

I don't expect it to be Flight Simulator either. If everyone flies on past at the merge and continues to do so in order to gain an energy advantage merge after merge after merge, the "fight" becomes a farce.
Plus in my experience, this tactic alone rarely works. Some players conserving energy while others attack aggressively tends to work just as well if not better.
-- Todd/Leviathn
-
Well its always nice to see how the enemy reacts first.. If 4 go hi left and 4 go hi right you have an good chance of splitting up the enemy force... Then come slamming down on em...
Rarely works... ya it all depends on what your opponent does...
But if you guys are planning on djust doing an "wild merge" keep an eye on your wingman aproach you are gonna be dead... for sure...
The ones with the biggest experiance from squad duels will surely win... Not the ones with the "uber sticks"
-
steve.. i am going by what I see. pee51's won't be the only plane in the game unless daddy has the choice. pee 51's bore me witless. I guess even I could gather up comments that made me sound good even tho I am mediocre like you.

ALL READ THIS:
We need a Captain ASAP.
Nash and Frenchy are the only ones to mention it so far, could you guys please get together and decide which one of you will be acting as Captain and email me ASAP: raf1swoop@yahoo.co.uk
Gotta get the AH Captain talking to the WB Captain and hash out the planeset details. THEN the Captain will need to pick his side from those who've signed up in this thread.
I think what Laz is getting at is that if we want to WIN then those pilots who have the highest level of ability should be picked over lower performing ones. However, if we don't really want to win and just wanna have fun then I recommend going in order of sign up. The Team Captain may of course request from the WB crowd that we field different pilots in every frame so that everyone gets a go.......you never know they might agree. But it's entirely up to either Nash or Frenchy, as soon as they decide who's leading :).
Bottom line: I need a team captain elected today and talking on the email list with me and Daddy at WB to get things final.
-
THEN the Captain will need to pick his side from those who've signed up in this thread.
THEN you need some 8vs8 practise, wouldnt be hard to set up an extra "training" team from the looks of the interest here.....
Could be an good way of deciding who gets to be in too... Set up 2 teams and duke it out as many times as you can...
-
You might win even if you just pick names out of a hat.... there aren't that many good sticks left in WB... if they were any good they would allready be here but... why not get a few that know how to fight? Why not a couple that feel the first step in killing the bad guy is getting below him and having him get on your six instead of picking guys who are doing the calculations on energy whild runn.. er... "extending" away?
lazs
-
Why not let lazs fight em all... They suck anyways so lazs could take em all!

Cause thats not how you fight in more than 1 vs 1 Duels. Your bound to lose with the frame of mind.
-
you think? seems drex wins every 2 vs 2 duel ever had at the cons and he doesn't do a lot of "extending".
lazs
-
Just my .02 worth......
As to tactics, it's a non-issue.....select the correct pilots and tactics are a given. The older experienced pilots have done this type of gig many times before....it's not a big thing. Pilot selection is what it's about.
My choice would be the following....
Drex
Levi
WT
Shane
Urchin
Fester
Any number of other vets can fill out the group....I know of many here who can handle this kind of fight. This core group of vets listed above will handle any tactic thrown at them as well as kill quickly, which imho, is the key in this type of dance.
Drex should lead everyone out....he has the most experience with this kind of fight(sorry Scott):)
-
Lazs,
Are you really so deluded that you believe your own BS.
I mean like they say, You tell the same lie enough times, and you will start believeing it yourself.

Rgr Swoop. Frenchy volunteered for captain first, but he said in the same post that it depended on if he had the time to do it. My volunteering for captain was in case he decided he didn't. But... we still haven't heard from him. If he can do it, then the job is his.
Frenchy - have you made up your mind?
(sending this to you in email also Swoop as requested)

I dont think i know, maybe you should ask Rude what the tactic in Squad vs Squad duels was, i was in there, and each and every fight we had we would extend and grab alt, while the opposing squad would start turning at the merge, and would eventually lose.
-
well if wbs experience still puts you off the team then count me out. no use giving them something to whine about after the brutal beating there about to get.
-
To my way of thinking, the FM of old that some of the guys here might have been used to is a *lot* different than the "mushbirds" of today. It's a big difference imho., so unless the AH players in question have a lot of experience with WarbirdsIII (which is unlikely), then it's not going to give them an advantage.
My 2 cents.

I would like to withdraw, i'm really not experienced enough for something like this - i haven't been playing AH even remotely near as long as the people mentioned here.
I was hoping to learn something from the people who were selected; but it seems its changing from a bit of fun, to very competitive.
I will be reserve if you are really short of players (i doubt it) but please make sure you post the films :)

Nah, stick around, Furball. The idea is to have fun. And besides that, I haven't seen any of the people listed state unequivocally that they can make these dates and times anyway.
What better way to learn than to get down and dirty in a duel like this? Don't let the competitive vibe get ya down.
-- Todd/Leviathn
-
I agree with Steve on "rotating" the roster to accomodate those who cannot attend every frame. I'll fly where there's room.
And Todd, right on. As soon as ya get competitive (eg, score in the MA) the fun factor gets blown away.
-
Ummmm... Rude? It's 8 v 8; you need to pick two more. I'm used to you turning S when you say West but this mathmatical challenge thing is new. You think it's the vitamins? :)
I could probably think of another dozen that are really good. But I'm not sticking my into this buzzsaw.
Tactics? Why hash it out here in public so the WB guys can get briefed too? Pick 8 guys and 8 alternates. Let the alternates be the "opposition" and run a few practices. Let the fighters determine their own fighting style.
Now, I'm going to "duck and cover!"
-

Yer both wrong. :D
"10 players from each side (suggest we prepare alternates in case of no-shows) " - Daddy (rules on the 1st page of this thread)
-
That's just the base Toad....two more to fill it out:)
I'm sorry guys....unlike some of you, the competitive aspect of this is what makes it fun for me....I'm not interested in some PC crap about hey let's all get together and hold hands kinda thingie....AH should kick their arse plain and simple.
And I know this....anyone of the guys I mentioned are not going to view this as some touchy feely kinda thing....their going to want to kick some tail.
This mild mannered, let's all love one another silliness is for the Girlscouts!
It's time to step on their necks!
-
Well Nash, I think the actual 8 v 8 event will require.... ummmm ... maybe 8 players to participate?
Now, how you want to pick your alternates is up to you but I'd think you'd want 8 guys to practice against and since those guys would be "practiced up" I'd think that would be a good group from which to pick the 2 alternates. Just my .02. ;)
BTW, you guys are seeing just a teeny-tiny bit of the "Evil Rude" that he keeps so well hidden that you rarely even hear a "muahahahahahahah!"
-
Lazs, are you mediocre? I've heard good things about ya. :)
Well, you're right as far as many of my kills come in a p51 but I've been flying the FM2 and p38 lately... fun planes!!!!
-
yep... I'm mediocre... allways was. I don't really put much stock in what people say about me... they are just being polite.. I certainly wouldn't collect things said about me and put em on a website... even if I knew how to set up a website.
The advantage to being mediocre is it gives u an advantage in spotting mediocrity as well as in spotting talent.

I find myself agreeing with Rude more and more lately... ewww!
-
....and anyway, we should do AH vs. wwiionline as well :D

Well geez Rude, I'm sure others are not looking to fly lazily straight and level holding hands with goofy grins. :p But I wont be pissed off if it turns sour.
There are different forms of competition (scenerios, 1v1, 2v2, AH vs WB, etc)... but it all depends on just what the competition is. Like you said, I'll have fun being competitive, but I wont let it become SO competitive that it spills over into other areas. :)

I hear ya Octavius....it's just that to me there is only one way to play....balls to the wall. The thought of losing to those girlscouts over at WB's turns my stomach.
As to different forms of competition? There is only one where I come from....beat em so badly that they'll tell their childrens children of the horror which is the AH virtual combat pilot!!! I'm sorry, but I can't help myself.:)
-
heheh
I was late to the flight sim scene (1999) and don't know too many over at WB. That said, I'll take your word on the girlscout description :D

Lazs, I didn't collect the info, type it. or put up the website(don't know how ). That info was garnered from a section of furballcentral.com, who's heyday coincided w/ AW. One could be rated by one's peers at the site, this is what I referenced.

Believe me the WB guys will take this "fun" as serious as a heartbeat.
Most will be trainers.
Time frame is a problem because I defy you all to download the game and actually get it up configured and running by the end of the week.
The short time frame is part of the duel.
The game begins before the game begins.
It's already begun.
Seen a variation of this "game" before.
Good list Rude. If your list is up, it would be ugly. Ain't gonna be no slouches from over there, some real good sticks. It isn't a cakewalk by any means.
..well with Rudes list.
It would..
But time comes into play with those on the list being available...
The top list from WB will be there believe me.
As I said the "game" began with the first post.
Think of it as a NOE raid before the start of the frame ;)
-
Why am I getting the same sense, nopoop?.......
-
now u guys are starting to get it.

You GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!
If the AH pilots cant come from WBs than that means they are gonna have to be from AW. The WBs guys are gonna kick the ever liven sh*t outta the AW dweebtards.
Hands down, no contest.

Yeager-
Read further down the thread. No restrictions on former WB pilots.

You could come from X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and still extend/grab on the merge easily enough. :)

How many of the WB vets have much if any WBIII experience? Big difference. I submit that if you flew WBs before WBIII, then you're not going to have any advantage.
WBII and WBIII are two totally different things.

I'll be like 32nd string/waterboy :D

In the sqd v sqd duel, we just reacted to what the other squad did....had some technique involved re: bracketing, etc....still, most that we faced extended and grabbed out. Half of us would climb out to match the other sqd, the rest would stay low....what can I say...it worked for us.

I'd be willing to bet that most of the guys listed here as "the best" came from AW.
now take this hook outta my mouth!

See, now this matches the tactic that I mentioned to Maniac earlier. WT forgot to mention that part. :)

Sounds like y'all need an ex-WB vs ex-AW duel first, then send your winning team to take on the WBers.
When all is said and done, I'm sure the end result would be a WB vs ex-WB duel.
Air Warrior. LOL :p
Nopoop, if y'all would stop jabberin' and get to downloading, you'd have WB installed and running by now. I'm on a modem, and 35 megs for AH might as well be 200 megs. Just start the download at night, wake up in the morning and install, like I did.
If you have any questions regarding WB video setup or dot commands, just ask, there'll be plenty of people willing to help, me included.
It could be worse, I actually had to sign up and pay HTC since I tried AH out over a year ago. :) But what the hell, $15 bucks a month is a great deal. (Too bad WildBillGates isn't listening...)
After the duel, feel free to delete WB. Again. :)
By the way, I just recently figured out how to switch tanks in AH. I couldn't figure out why 100% fuel lasted only a few minutes... those aux tanks are shallow!
Next thing... I'll probably find out I've been slinging a couple bombs without knowing it.
50% of mastering a game like this is figuring out the commands. hehe

Kek I'd have about as much of a chance in "the" Duel as getting a compliment for a "good" fart in a theater.
Ya still haven't emailed me ya bastage. Try that nikky yet ?? It's an animal.
If I ever DO download the thug, I'll fly under a different name so no one will know I'm there...like "poop" or something else sly..
-
nopoop, aka poop
I have not flown the Nikki. I don't need no stinkin' uber bird.
Of course, I've only landed like, 2 sorties out of many. Landing is over-rated.

ALL READ THIS.
Our AH Team Captain will be Nash.
Nash, check yr email.

Sounds like y'all need an ex-WB vs ex-AW duel first, then send your winning team to take on the WBers.
Now that's something that'll put butts in the seats and pass the time to ah2. Resurrect the old Allied vs LW cage terrain from 2001...oh how the hate would flow.....especially if HT and Pyro were forced to choose sides.
-
my experience in wbs was in wb2.77, played it online for about 10 months. then wbs3 came along, i tried it, didnt like it. left and moved to AH. where the cockpits are readable and planes can ROLL. so ill show up for this deal unless someone says it would be better if i didnt.
-
i came from CFS....
-
Out of the best all time top ten AH game boys to ever play this funny little gem of a stroke feast -Id have to give the nod to 8 of the 10 being WBs heritage. The other two were from FA.
Sorry AW tardlickers, you guys are just pre-pubescent apple fondling game boiz. No comparrison to the skill, honor OR bravery in virtual combat that marked the typical WB type.
You tards are going to get slapped down hard.
WBs is where the legendary pros were born.
Im thinking we need to set up a gambling pool.
Odds anyone?
-
Dang it Yeager! Quit holding back and tell them what you really think.
(I disagree, BTW. There's some pretty fine players came out of AW. And a huge number of players, good, mediocre and indifferent that have flown all three games.)
Should be a fun thing for players and fans. I think Nopoop's right though. The AH contingent is alreadly late for the briefing and behind the power curve. It probably was part of the plan.
(Ok, guys, here's what we do. D/L AH and get familiar and then next month we'll challenge the AH guys and give 'em a week to get ready.)
:)
Luck to yas though.

Oh, yeah.. I want the beer and popcorn concession on this one!

I'm in contact with daddy via email and doing everything I can to get this pushed back to the following weekend.
Once we settle that issue I'm going to run a new sign up post. The one we have is kind of muddled. Hard to know who has volunteered and who has been volunteered by someone else. In addition, people signed up before the dates were posted, so we don't know for certain who can actually make the dates (some have since opted out). In short, things are a mess. If we don't get the extra week... well, I just don't know...
That being said, if daddy is good enough to grant this for us, we'll be in good shape. I'm going to ask Skuzzy to get us a forum so we can go over tactics and also use it to schedule in where reserves may be needed. A practice or two would also be a good idea.
Ultimately, I'm not looking for AHers to win in AH and WBers to win in WB, and having this all be a wash. For it to mean anything, we gotta beat them in their own house. ;)
-
Nash is Captain. Congrats Nash. I withdraw, effective immediately.
-
Hmmm, I must have missed something in skimming these two threads.
I detect a disturbance in the Force.. there are ripples around Steve that seem to originate near Nash...
I expected huge beer and popcorns sales during the threads AFTER the fight but perhaps I should try to get the beer and popcorn concession here on the AH BBS BEFORE the fight.
Be quite a shame if this led to infighting and hard feelings here in AH.
Is this Wild Bill's next offensive? After his "Sue EVERYONE!" plan?
-
Heh. Got me too - I dunno what to make of it.
But hmm... Some devious plan by WildBill to divide and conquer you think? Could be.... :)

There was this squad I remember from AW, we used to call them the 'TAS-holes'...
(they were pretty good though, for half-time dweebs anyway)

Sorry guys, I just worked like crazy today. I would gladly fill the captain spot, but my work has "no hours". I think it's safer to let Nash being the captain, I will just volonteer to fly.
I don't mean to back out Swoop, but I prefer not commit to something as I may have to back out at the last minute because my boss called me in urgency.
-
Congrats to Nash for stepping up and leading the AHers in the upcoming duel.
Sorry for the confusion. We raised the limit to 10 instead of 8...for more folks could play.
Also fwiw, trying to select the top 10 in anything is tough. What I'm trying to do in warbirds, is anyone who wants to participate gets to fly. We 'may' have 5 rounds and getting as many people a chance to fly is a win-win situation.
Oh btw, is Leviathn my old warbirds friend lthn?
furball, don't withdraw...please. One reason I want to do this duel is a chance to meet the folks in AH. And perhaps y'all can meet some of the wbers...and realize we are not the horrid SOBs that the 'lazss' say we are. I've known drex and the gang for going on 8 years, and imho it would be nice to meet other folks besides my x-wb friends.
Cheers
cya soon
Steve

Why not do an AH vs WB Scenario lite instead.... :)

Nope, I'm an old AW Tardlicker (copyright Yeager). I went by +Dead, DeadF, or Cilk over there.

Just a suggestion.....someone needs to take charge. Too much discussion will result in sloppy work....lead or be led...both won't work:)
