Title: How to stop quicktime?
Post by: TPIguy on July 26, 2003, 02:49:07 PM
Is there any way in IE5 to keep quicktime from installing itself on my system? Whenever I accidentaly (or unknowingly) click a QT link on the net it installs a bunch of crap. Even when I tell it not to install, it still leaves entries in my registry, and loads at startup.

Each time I have to go through my registry and delete the crap it added. Is there any particular setting in IE5 that will stop this from happening?

I'm not 100% certain, but if you go to tools -> internet options -> advanced and uncheck "install on demand" that might do it.

Go to start/run and type MSCONFIG

You'll a box come up. click the "start up" tab

You can prevent programs auto loading there.
