One thing i miss about WB when on AH is ... right click (mouse) six calls. My typing skills suck and I'm not sure that it's a genuine WWII fighter pilot skill anyhow. Right click six calls allows you to click on someone with the mouse and give them a canned six call in text even if you can't read their icon or are too busy to type. I believe this would simulate radio interaction more realisically.
WB has it and it was a great idea... Loved by all... let's just steal it.

That would come in handy for the guys that aren't on your Wilco channel and vice versa.

It'd be nice if instead of a text buffer message it could trigger .wav file that we could individualise at home.
"check 6 furious"
"lookout furious"
"kiss your bellybutton good-bye furious"
I could get my wife to record one for me. Now that'd get my attention.
Furious

fine with me furious except no womens voices on the wav file... I tend to not hear womens voices for the most part.

WB's right click mouse call is just a plain pin in the arse for me.
Got to switch hands on the joystick, quick glance to find the mouse, then try to fly the a/c with the wrong hand while keeping the 6 callee in view and then get the arrow on them to click it.
I'd rather see a key stroke 6 call to what ever is in your gun site.
-
I agree 100%
I want this feature.
-
Yeah,it'd be cool and if you took it one step further and allowed you to 6 call enemies. You know , a personal message to the enemy pilot, sort of:
"knock knock!"
(Or a message from the Mysterious Mr. Dover"

The number one problem I've seen in all the online sim,s is gang banging. It is not enough that a new guy has less experience. Which is more than enough to get him shot. He is also getting whacked by 4 guys on RW.
In an HA setting, the squad stuff would make sense. But no real attempt is made at historical realism in the MA anyway. P51,s fighting P51,s etc.. etc.. Pyro has described it as a pickup basketball game. And rightly so. It would make more sense, to me, to try to make the MA game as fair as possible. Not only would there be no click on icons. They would lose the RW, and the privet squad channel. If someone's buddy is warning him that you are about to bounce him. It should be in the text buffer, so you know your getting gang banged also. And the guns should be cranked up so you have a fighting chance against multiple cons.

and a 6call.wav to go with it, incase you're getting target fixated and aren't watching the buffer. Then you can record your wife screaming "LOOK OUT!!!" as you're racing through town and use that as your 6call wav file (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
-
I cornered Pyro in the MA one night and asked him about this, he said he saw no problem with it, should be easy to implement.
Maybe 1.05 will have it?

Dinger I agree, I'd like to be able to give a bandit a 6-call... right after I blow him away from a low-6 bounce. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I like the .wav file idea! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) I think it would be even better if we had 3 or more wav files that it randomly chose from.

Yes steal the idea and make it better, use a wav file. But it gotta have some kind of limitation else you will risk to get a lot of calls in top of each other, so it would sound like a bad Hiphop performance from the mid 80´s (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) only one voice six call every xx seconds could be the solution. Also the first 6 call should show as a message in chat buffer else you wouldent know who it came from, and the other pilots wouldent know if the pilot has been warned allready, and you risk to get a sixcall from every pilot in the area.

Never played WB online, but let's have clickable six calls - what a great idea! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

If your going to steal something from WB. Steal the FM. Its more interesting. You can actually get into a spin you cant recover from by hitting a button. And the planes do lose E in what seems like a more logical way.

Either change your handle or don't advocate FM changes. The contradiction hurts my brain (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

Hi All,
I gotta say I hate the mouse at the best of times, Couldn't we link it to friendly Padlock and a function key?
Like the ".wav" idea though (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Just my opinion

Agree with Snafu, I never found the "right click six call" very useful in WB. Too awkward to hold the view of the friendly, while trying to click the mouse.
However, I might like the "padlock six call" idea. One button to cycle through all the friendlies in view, then another button to send the six call. Could map to the throttle buttons, and use them without taking my hand off the stick.
-
pop, that's fine but i would still like to have the mouse click. Most times I have enough time to right click but not enough to type. They might not be used alo the time but in a crowd somebody has time to right click. I don't see hardly any six calls in AH now.
lazs
-
Lazs i think that is due to the predominate use of Roger Wilco and hence a lack of watching the text buffer by alot of folks. As well as folks just not seeing a bigy on your six. But a mouse click would make it easier to do a 6-call all around and if it kicked off a sound file that would be even better.
I've seen it where by the time I hit the "/" key and starting typing in a handle to alert, the bogy had already wasted the poor sod. And often you hear them whine about not getting a 6 call . Well. No one saw the bogy and when I did I never had a chance to alert you. (and felt like adding, "pay me to be your wingman next time")
Sorry for the digression...

Could it be a voice broadcast proximity channel (just like text channel #3?. Dunno if that can be done in RW, or can be done at all, tho.
Cheers,
Pepino.
-
Great idea, Lazs!
Usually, by the time I type "check 6 #######", he's dead.
-
I like the right click mouse idea better than Pop's idea but only because I have a hell of a time reading the green icon names of friendlies. If I can right click then it doesn't matter whether or not I can read the icon name.
Bo
-
exactly bo... I can't for the life of me read the green icons much less type in a six call... I think that voice (wav?) would be great but text in bright blue or something would be good enough.
Speaking of icons... i love the green for good red for bad thing but.... i have a really hard time reading the green icons... Is there a place to adjust the hue or contrast or something of them?

I would like to take credit for bringing the mouse six call idea to Warbirds!....
I also invented the internet and my realtionship with my wife was the inspiration behind "Love Story".....

Bo, I've never tried AH padlock, so I shouldn't use it as a reference, but this is what I envision: Push a button (or key) once, and one of the friendly icons in the current view is highlighted, keep pushing that button, and the highlight cycles through all the friendlies in view. When the highlight is on the guy you want to warn, push a second button and he gets a six call and the highlight disappears. You don't need to read the icon, just get the right one highlighted. For me the advantage would be that I could send a six call without taking my hands off the throttle and stick.
lazs, There is no way to alter the icon colors right now, but there is a thread in "gameplay" asking for it.

I find tracers whizzing by my canopy a very effective 6 call.....
