Title: Gathering at Chino CA
Post by: edge12674 on August 01, 2003, 03:43:59 PM
There will be a gathering of W.W. II flight sim enthusiasts (primarily Warbirds and Aces High) held at the Chino Planes of Fame air museum on the 24th of August, 2003.

The occasion is to celebrate the recovery of Hawk, a Warbirds player, who recently beat the odds against cancer.

All are welcome and we plan on having  breakfast first at Flo's at 9:30 a.m.

So far we have a gathering of about 10 players.  So come on out, meet others with the same interest, and spend the time talking W.W.II aircraft and flight sims!!!

Btw- Not sure if this post should go here or to the "O Club" so apologies in advance if I got it wrong.

I live in Lancaster here but I know very little about WWII.  Only little tid bits I've read here and there.  Plus I doubt with my work schedule I'd be able to make it.  The planes here keep me busy enough already...

I'm flying out of Chino, I can probably organize rides in lil Cessnas for the ones who wish to spend the extra $. Depending on numbers, I can negociate a killer price per person with the owner.

May be a good opportunity for the ones who never flew to get a feel for it.

Let me know if it's a perk you want to propose to those guys.

B17SKULL12 - Hope you can make it.  We have held several of these gatherings before and everytime it has been a blast!

Cobra412 - This gathering is very informal.  Just a bunch of players who enjoy looking at airplanes, talking flight sims, and eating breakfast.  I think you would like it!

Frenchy - Sounds cool and I will post your offer on the WB thread.  Weather permitting I will be flying myself and a coworker into Chino from 29 Palms.  I always enjoy flying in there as I took my training there at AIA.

Look forward to meeting you Bluefish!

Be good to see you again llama!!  I went by the handle Edge (--ed--) in WB.

Frenchy - So far about four people on the WB side have expressed an interest in your offer to fly the little Cessna's (a REAL pilots aircraft! :D  ).  Can you give me a ballpark figure on the cost?  Others are thinking about it, but don't have any idea how expensive it is.

Program:
take off Chino, hands on on the plane, some Lake Matiews buzzing, some alt, some "whatch this it will make you throw up" and an emergency RTB before the throw up part.

ARRRGGGGHHH, my A&P mechanic didn't order the new tires he was supposed to get and told me I shouldn't fly on the old ones because they're too worn- sorry I'm going to have to miss it.  Have fun all- maybe next year....
