Congratulations team!
WB's players. Looking forward to seeing the next round.
-
WTG lets see how you guys do in their arena.. Just give them a few more kills tho ok? BTW who filmed it?
-
Sorting film and logs now. Hopefully we can get a good quality film from someone hosted somewhere for the masses to enjoy.

Give us the films, damnit! :D
-
Swoop when you find it email it my way, I'll host it. Was fun, I almost missed my chance to fly too. Also, kudos to Nash for having to sit them out.
-
It definitely cannot be easy to walk into a new sim and face the kind of team we managed to throw together. Next week we are going to learn all about it, I'm sure. :) A big
to daddy and the Warbirds team - it was a really fun evening.
Kudos to the AH team, and thanks to the couple of reserve pilots that were there to make sure we could pull this off. Huge thanks to Skuzzy... he has done an incredible amount of work in accomodating us, even being there right up to the last minute answering questions in the arena.
Appreciate it Estes - I didn't mind sitting out the 2nd round for someone else to jump in. I got one half decent round in... meaning I lived through it... that was enough for me. Besides, Ponys aren't my thing. :)
The Aces High team (rounds 1 & 2):
Swoop
Drex
kbman
Estes
Slapshot
Pointman
Nash
Goob
Leviathin
Nath
Shuckins
Mathman
Wldthng
-
I bet i would have survived in my P38 too
But going to their sim i would not stand at chance going against another monogamic sim pilot.
the second parts going to be interesting
but what if ah team is going to kick butt again.
Could u say The AH flightmodel is harder??
Harder doesn't mean more realistic by the way

If you're good in a P-38 here, you'll be good in one in WB. I think the only thing you'd have troubles with would be the gunnery. It would have been nice to see one of the AH P-38 pilots on that list but at least for me, don't have the free time.
Ack-Ack

WTG guys! You guys remind me of the first US Olympic basketball Dream Team, the other guys just don't have a chance. After you finish off the WB guys, it's time to challenge the guys in FA.

Drex, Levi, Nath, Wld. Jebus. Probably 4 of top 5 AH pilots. :)

Great job Guys
I'm shure the tables will be turned next week though .
As for Talking VR1 into a Fighter ace match up ... well hmmm .
I'll ask a couple of my freinds over there (they are moderators in that sim) . but I dont really see it happening . and not for free . its $10 per mo to play there .

Congrats guys I heard it was well flown..... may the best team win in the next round.

WTG guys
Rather impressive to say the least.

WTG guys!
If there's any gnashing of teeth/lamenting on the WB bbs, someone post a link so we can all enjoy it.:D ...especially if we kick their butts in their own sim. ;)
-
AH.
great event and excellent support from the AH staff.
I hope we can be as good host as you were.
=fjod=
-
Glad to hear its going well.
Be interesting to see what the WB's guys can do on their home turf.
The good news is for the Flight Sim Community. We need more of this kind of cooperation.
HTC & skuzzy for helping make this happen.
-
Congrats and WTG guys! Hope you all do as well on their home ground! :D

Def count me in on taking on the FA boys - level 10 - no icons, no ranges, full cockpit - should be interesting.

Schade, you might need icons on to determine who you are killing.

Nah just fly US vs GB and have everone use A/c recognition....higher level room never use icons.....it would be an advantage for them - only fly level 9 or 10 btw.

I actually blanked the first round, trying to get to the high ones. I did make up for it in the second round with 4 kills. Was a good time.

Gents !!
I want to extend a hats off to the organizers and to the pilots who flew
There is only one thing better than the flying ability we experienced from your AH team , and that was there good sportsmanship .
You guys are class acts

Simply because in AH you get to fly vs 300 odd people in a reasonably realistic flight sim whilst in FA they have 10 levels - only level 9 and 10 are realistic and they have very low turnout ie 10 to 15 people flying those levels.
Having said that those that do fly the more realistic levels are just as good as anyone in AH - the flight models are very similar, something are easier in FA - ie padlock, but AH is easier in that you have icons which FA does not use.
You made a comment that playing FA is for girl scouts - I challenged you - are you going to back up your words with actions or are you all mouth? If it's childs game in their full realistic arena - say North Cape, no icons, no ranges, snow, low cloud, full cockpit, spins and stalls enabled you should be able to manage it easily if it's tic tac toe.......
Come on give me your next excuse why you won't be there - maybe you can't afford ten dollars for a sub or perhaps it's your computer that's not good enough?
-
Gents,
this is a thread to celebrate our initial victory over the WB crew, not a place to debate who's dick is bigger.
We've already been called Class Acts and I would very much appreciate it if you two wouldn't go ahead with proving that statement wrong here in this thread. Start another one pls, preferably in the O club.
Thanks,
(http://image1ex.villagephotos.com/extern/640697.jpg)
-
Shouting "We kicked butt!!" followed by chest thumping is a class act?
Give me a break.
-
Schadenfreude, I noticed you. Now carry on. You have nothing to do with this thread, or contest.
Good job AH peoples, although concidering the players, my Gad, the outcome wasn't a shock.
-
Gawd, what a team. I remember I had my arse kicked quite a few times in the MA by some of you guys ;)
Goood job guys!
-
I was priveleged to fly in round 1a and round 1b with some of the best that Aces High has to offer.
Round 1a/b were flown with Spit IXs ... AH Team won round 1a but there was some confusion on our part and we had a questionable aircraft merging at 18K. Merge altitude was to be at 15K, no more than 2K separation by all planes within a team. After the merge, there was no alt limitations. After reviewing my film, we did indeed have someone at 18K at the merge.
We flew round 1b and the results were the same. AH took it.
I had the problem of flying to the same area as this guy NathBDP ... future reminder ... don't follow Nath ... there will be nothing left for you !!! This tatic also applies to Leviathn, Mathman, and Drex. <> to the other guys too ... results might have been the same if I flew in your general vacinity.
Bottom line .. I was only able to score an assist, but watching these guys work together was priceless.
-
Yeah, reflying the very 1st round (round 1a as you call it) was the only thing to do.
I forget the guy's name, but someone crashed our party and launched with us, climbing up to 18k at the merge. After getting booted he snuck back in and almost got away with it again on the 2nd try before he was spotted and re-booted.
Also because of him I counted 11 people, so I augered... causing everyone not to be within 2k of eachother as per the rules. It was a complete mess, and reflying it was the only proper thing to do. No sweat there.
As for some of the mud slinging on this thread (there's not much of it, but...) .... It's not lost on me that the people who actually took part in the duel aren't the ones involved in it.
-
LOL!!!!
Wise guys. :D

Well done !
I would be much surprised if not AH manage to kill more WB on their soil when I look at the rooster :)

My favourite WB ex-trainers
-
The AH group will dominate them, regardless.
Slow fighter FM molasses code in WBS breeds lethargic acm, and it's why I won a lot in my 1 hour trial there.
Im guessing several folks from AH will never make the WBS duel due to software problems though.
If they do, results will be similar to the asswhippin WBS took here. If the AH guys think in advance of the muddy FM and compensate, which they will, the humiliation will be complete.
-
WTG all involved!
Will be fun to see the WB trainers get their arses handed to them in their own sim :D

People say I suck, yet I did 30:1 k/d ratio on my 1 week free trial on WB3 flying the p38 which I'm not used to.
On AH I manage 10:1 average on my favourite planes so that should tell something.

sorry levi....
no more expressin myself on this thread....

Having flown both sims, the main thing that will handicap you going from AH to WB are the limited WB cockpit views. You are used to being able to see, visibility is very poor in WB. You will want to practice with that before hand.

I meant to respond to this thread not start a new post. Anyways I said...
Wowsa!
Even though I didn't get any kills I think I used my excellent "baiting" abilities to help the truly skilled pilots on our team score some easy(er) kills. Just to be on that list with such distinguished pilots is an honor. Can't wait for round 3!
And regarding Goob, sorry to say, I was here 1st, been playing since AH since beta, WB beta previous to that, Fighter Duel on KALI before that, etc... I am the OG g00b.

I'm glad we didn't put more than 2 BK's on the team as a shutout would have seemed rigged.
Went pretty much as I predicted eh? Who were the MVP's for both rounds?
lazs

MVPs? I don't think we set up any kind of MVP per round kind of thing. Go ahead and give Drex and Levi a trophy if you want (I would be shocked if you haven't already personally gone out and had their names etched onto one)... and then I'll come prepared with one for the next rounds - making sure of course that it's made in the BK's color scheme. :D
-
Good ideas on the trophies nash.. I guess if you are worried about the next rounds I can allways give you another BK or two but drex and levi should be able to handle most of the killing easily enough.

And yes, I still don my DoD prop-beanie when I fly. Unfortunately the Dweebs didn't want to break up the MAc and PC folks, so they never made the switch from WB to AH. I just couldn't hang with WB anymore, so I stoically carry the Dweeb torch alone in AH...;)

Trust me SLO, all of those 4 guys are absolutely better than me. They are just at the next level of fighter pilot skill. I am not sure how good is Nath now, because I have not seen him in AH for a while, but 3 others are really AH top pilots.

I think that the idea is that you have lower levels with no spins and stalls, easy physics to get people into the game and then they all migrate to higher level, full physics, stalls spins, no icons as they get better.
er...unfortunately what actually happens is that people join, get used to flying what are little more that spaceships that look like WW2 a/c and then scream like pigs on the way to the bolt gun if anyone suggests that they try a higher more realistic level.
But there are a couple of hundred guys that look down on the lower levels (the Crayon Rooms) but who are frustrated that they only get about 10 people to fly against in the realistic rooms.
The benefits of the whole event vs WB and FA is that in both sims there are a large number of people who would probably move over to AH if they are encouraged to do so and an extra 20% subscriber base for AH would mean more resources to allow AH to bring in changes, more a/c etc.
That's the point - not whether FA or WB or AH is better, harder etc but rather how to encourage people to join AH.
It's a big decision to move from one sim to another and leave all your friends there so helping people and being polite are important - boasting how good one is on one's home turf is not in my opinion not the way to do it.
-
And some of us will try hard, to make people like that feel right at home ;) Just ignore the chest-thumping baboons, hehe :D
Frankly, I think the 'multiple level' system is a failure. The same thing has been proven again and again in numerous games - such as FB.. Such great potential and yet, 80% of Hyperlobby rooms are practically arcade.
Its either they learn it the hard way, or not learn at all. No such thing as easy, gradual advancement without any frustration. Overcoming frustration is what motivates people to become better, and without the learning curve, people don't evolve.
I often wonder what FA would have been like without all those arcadish low levels...

I think that was the lesson the Kesmoids started to learn with AW before the plug got yanked. It was planned for AW4 to get rid of the relaxed realism flight model and the multiple arenas and just have one main arena using the new flight model.

"planned for AW4 to get rid of the relaxed realism flight model and the multiple arenas and just have one main arena using the new flight model"
That's my understanding also. Except it would have made for one very large RR arena. The new super, dooper complex FM had training wheels being welded on inspite of it's "Ultra-realism" tag by the AW-4 team. Not user selectable automations. Features neutered for, as I recall, the reasoning being that the AW4 team "knew" that players didn't want to tackle much of a learning curve nor have to deal with "tedious chores" and other "b.s. realisms."

From my understanding it would selectable user options similiar to WB's old EZ-mode and AH's stall limiter and combat trim. Even with the EZ mode (think it was a G-limiter in AW4, similiar to our stall limiter) enabled in AW4, the pilot that flew without such crutches would have the advantage since the EZ mode pilot wouldn't be able to get max performance of his plane by riding the edge of the envelope. Alas, we'll never know.

It was awfully nice of the furballers to defend the honor of AH. I'm sure you won't hear any criticism of "furballin'" for at least a few days. However, it's really not fair to leave the strat types out of the fun. Maybe somebody could run some gang bangin' or milk runnin' competitions?
