The operative word in NB's post is ... worked ... meaning he already made his changes ... the changes that we have already seen. These did help Trinity alot.
I concur ... change almost all those useless - undefendable vehicle bases on the ISLANDS to airfields.

Agree with Fester. If not ALL VHs then MOST would be a big help... Without the CVs now the map would be worthless IMO. I am flying ONLY the P-38 this tour so the CVs don't help from my side. All those who fly other than CV planes kinda get screwed as it is accept when it's an enemy CV attacking...

Hehe, I know Lazs. Been givin' each other crap for so long...it's kinda hard to stop :D. It is now very close to what I initially intended...tuff to get rolling...easy to maintain once you get started. Personally, I think the average reset time on it now would be about 5 to 10 days. If HT can crack the 255 field limit, the mapmakers would have a LOT more flexibility (crossin' fingers) :).

There are definitly some issues that need tweeking on this big island map (wow...this is a new thing...err but I digress). As with any new map, its going to take some time to tweak it for best gameplay.
Right now there is a real problem with a multi sector trip for most initial attacks, which does a few things:
Goons are even harder to come by. It takes 30 minutes to get a goon to the base, and in combination with that, you end up getting there just as all your fighter cap is out of gas. Sure this is easy to overcome with squad ops coordination, but a big issue in the chaos that is the MA. Goon drivers are punished and abused more....less goons.....which is never a good thing
A large number of planes are basically useless. Planes with small gas loadouts or high fuel consumption are useless again because of the large distances. We therefore take a map designed to emphasize fleet manuvers and take the number of NON fleet planes down by another factor of 10 because of the long distances making it a P51 F4U F6F Niki a go go arena. 109s La7 and other gas suckers are left out of a majorety of the map (which some think is a bad thing)
This map encourages DEFENSIVE play....it takes SO LONG for even fast planes to get to target, that a vastly inferior force can be used effectively for defense....end result....the map stagnates.
Tweeking may commence at any time:D

Silly me. I always find it interesting to check stats after someone posts something diametrically opposed to the "common" opinion.
As is the usual, the stats are all telling..

There are a number of vh bases with no spawn points to it or from it. Therefore, the bases serve no useful strategic purpose other than to be milkrun targets for bombers and base captures. I think those are the bases that should either (a) get spawn points or (b) become airfields or (c) become ports with carriers. For BigIsles, to retain the Pacific flavor, I think ports with carriers would be a good start. Then maybe we'd see the multiple-carrier battle groups in the MA instead of just the CT and SEA.

Bigisles with all those vbases, some of them don't even have spawn points and others have spawn points to no target...
I agree, replace the vbases with airfields.

Admittedly, it seems silly to have a V-base on an island, isolated from any other base. Its only value can be to defend itself against airborne aggression. But what's the point, if the V-base itself has no logistical function?
