I'm >< close to letting the wife get a 2000 528i Sedan. I like owning 3 vehicles and not having a car payment :( This would add one.

saw 3 of the new BMW convertibles yesterday, are they called Z9's or something?
very nice!

The 3 series comes in converts, so do Z3's and Z8's, the new Z4 is also convert.

Show me a 100% American vehicle :)
FYI, BMW's are made in America (The X5 and Z4)

I see the potential Boeing layoffs arent effecting you?
:)

Oh man Rip.. how gonna get let a 528 sit in your garage? All that bulk and a meager 2.8L to move it?
I hear a 540 calling your name... 6 speed too.
No, shut up... the woman can learn. ;)

"Someone shoot me"
So you still driving down to the SJ con in the 330? :D

I hope it's an improvement on the Z3 and the Z8. The latter was awful and the former under-powered compared to its stable mates.
-
(loud earth shattering) KaPOWWwwwwww
No way man, make her save the money for it.
As long as the 3 that you have run, why spend $$$$$ on a new one & payments?

Yeah, but she wouldn't appreciate the 540i :) The I would!
I'm now working with a friend who attends alot of auctions, he buys and sells BMW's and no finders fee involved. My criteria is 540i or 528i.
We've got some disposible income so no payments involved (after we sell her Explorer)
Grun, you going to SJ con?

Is that what you thought after having driven one of each?

I met a friend of a friend who lives in the midwest. He's the owner of several BMW's (Millionaire, retired) and loves just going to auctions and buying bimmers at a great price. He's going to shop around for us :) Now my selection will be a used 540i and I'm going to tell him to keep an eye open for a nice used M5 but I doubt the M5 will be in my price range.
540i specs:
Performance
Acceleration (0-60 mph): 5.5 sec.
Braking Distance: 126 ft.
Road Holding Index: .84 g
Base Number of Cylinders: 8
Base Engine Size: 4.4 liters
Base Engine Type: V8
Horsepower: 282 hp
Max Horsepower: 5400 rpm
Torque: 324 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 3600 rpm
Drive Type: RWD
Turning Circle: 37.1 ft.

Z3 is a hairdresser's special. Z4 is great if you want an S2000 but feel like blowing another $10k for no apparent reason.

Whipped!!!

Ripsnort, see my other post.
if you have disposable income, you need to start skydiving again. Bring the missus too.
Then we can do a threeway :D.
-
heheh.. Finally took the dive and took a Z4 for a test drive. I was wasting time while my buddy has his 325Xi serviced. I do have to ask why are these guy's salamander's. (sales staff)
As far as being nimble.. heh... let just say they didn't improve it. Though I do like the silky sound of the I-6. Something my Miata is missing. :D
However, my fun factor rates it at 5. Needs to shead a few hundred pounds. Top works really nice..and the interior. Well, if you like weird and funky its cool.

Wooo hooo! She changed her mind! :) I knew she'd come to her financial common sense! :) We'll revisit the "do you really need a new car?" question next spring...meanwhile, when the boat show comes to town in Febuary.....:D

stick with a jeep man..
little or no payments and they're disposable ! lol
trust me

I've driven a Z3 and didn't think it was that hot compared to the MR-2 given the price. Never driven the Z-8 but given BMW have yanked it only a few years after its introduction and given its lack of sales, it seems neither they nor the public were too impressed with it either.
That ok with you Saudaorker or should I email you a re-draft for your approval?

No, thats not necessary - I was just curious if your vehicle analysis was from the drivers seat, passenger seat, or Motor Trend. ;)

Umm, you could still buy Z8's up until last year...and they're quite an automobile...however I don't have $130,000 lying around :p
(I hope you're not confusing the 8 series with the Z8 ?)

ROFLMAO !!!
god, I love that!
honeslty, so far anyway, hasn't cost anything but tires n gas
-
Nope - I'm talking about the Z8. They only made it for a couple of years before giving it the chop and they only made a few thousand worldwide. It never met its sales targets, IIRC.
