3.5 inch rocket tubes on a P47-D25.  (The real tipoff is the 4 .50 caliber browning M2 gun barrels sticking out of the wing).

Frenchy wins the 'Right on the money' award for providing information I hadn't thought it was possible to get from that one pic :).

Btw, that pic comes from Mediterranean Theatre - Pictoral Record, released by the US Army historical division or unit or society or whatever they call themselves, back in the 50's.
