Its amazing how this stuff always happens a week and a half before payday...
Friday afternoon, notice the cat isn't his usual lovey self, and is squatting here and there, as if he is trying to pee and cant. Call the vet, they say get him in ASAP so I do. He's managing to get a drop or two out, but he's blocked. So they do the catheter bit and keep him overnight. By morning, he's pee'ing up a storm and comes home. He's on a special diet and pretty much himself
That was $275 dollars ago...ugh...thankfully the vet is cool, I paid as much as I could (bye bye savings) and they accept a post dated check for the remainder, when my direct deposit hits.
Now he's straining a bit again, but able to get some urine out. He's tinkled in two areas of the house but is pretty much hanging out at his water bowl, hits the litter box...naps, and repeat the cycle. Called their "hot line" and this is normal...I really hope its clearing up...he's only 3 and a monster vet bill is something I truly don't need right now.
Anyone been thru this with their felines? Tips?
So long as he's using the box, i'm fine....but the tinkling here and there annoys the crap out of me.

I spent over 5K last fall trying to save my namesake and avatar's life after being diagnosed as having fibrous sarcoma on her spinal cord,a battle she lost.
The vet bills suck, but if your pet is healthy,it's worth it.

LePaul i feel your pain ... hope she gets better. :(
my first cat i had 17 years. 1 day she started peeing pink (blood in it) and couldnt control it. i was unemployed @ the time with $0 savings (19 living @ home going to college). my stepdad took her to the vet and put her to sleep
vet said it was 1 of 2 things... kidney infection that meds could clear up, or cancer of something i forgot. but the test was $95 and stepdad wouldnt pay it.
i BEGGED him to let me pay him back but nope, he just killed her.
oh well my story :(

same thing with our cat, ended up happening again and had to get an operation for like $800.00 and still has problems.
They say some cats ( Siamese) are prone to have that problem.

Vet bills only suck if your Dad is a vet in Wisconsin. I just hated the bad beef in trade.
I have a happy cat.

Fat bastard that can't tip over, but happy.

Lepaul sorry about the cat. Been there done that.

I forgot to mention pet insurance.
I didn't have it when Sox got cancer, and wish I had.The only bad thing is they won't insure a pre-existing condition.

Lol, insurance? You dolt.
When Max can't sh*t outside, he's a big fat fun memory. Insure that spite.

I'm glad you think it's funny.
It was great fun watching cancer eat away at Sox,and insurance would have cut the cost by 2/3's.

Yeah man, my cat Thompson Jehovah Chuckledust has had that condition twice.
Expensive as all hell to get fixed and the food he has to have is not cheap either. But make sure you get the food that your vet recommended.
I made the mistake of switching back to the generic cheap stuff and that is why he got sick again.
Creamo that is a very nice throw pillow.

Bullets are pennies, yet you watched cancer eat your pet away?
You made him suffer, which alot of people do with their pets because they are too selfish to end their misery. Seen it plenty of times working at the clinic. I don't think your funny, I think I already said fool or something like that.

He's doing much better today....now I'm the one taking the damage....trying to get him to take those eye-dropper thingies of anit-biotics. I look like a parachuting accident near razor wire...

damn, you'd think they would just skip the test and give you the $5 worth of antibiotics for the kidney infection. a much cheaper test IMO. if he gets well you know it was the infection, if not you have him put to sleep then and you're only out the aditional $5 for anti-biotics, much cheaper than the $95 test

Good to hear mate. Reminds me of my cat the last time I had to take him in when his junk got blocked up.
Dont think the vet remembered my cat but he sure as hell remembered her. Funny sight to see as the vet slams your cat down on the examination table and says "down.. stop that...." just before he does one of those spine twists and cuts her arms to shreds. I swear my cat even winked at me seconds before the attack.
I was a proud "father" that day :D

Dude, don't take this the wrong way,but GFY.
Your wife or significant other gets cancer,do you try to to save them,or just kill them?I tried saving her.AFTER it showed that the disease was terminal,I put her down...but not before trying.
You sir, have no business owning an animal.Oh,and before I forget...you are a class A jerk.
Have a nice fluff'n day.

NP, and of course I am.

My mother's oldest is also on a low magnesium diet due to crystalization in the urinary tract. We almost had to get him an operation to, hmmm, widen his tract. Ya gotta decide which means more. $$$ or the cat.
Seeing as you've already poured the money into it, I think I know your priority.
