Manufacturer:   Messerschmitt
Type:   heavy transport
Engine:   six Gnome-Rhone 14N fourteen-cylinder twin-row radial engines, each rated at 1,140 hp
Max speed:   195 mph at 13,000 feet
Service ceiling:   23,000 feet
Max range:   685 miles
Weight:   empty 60,250 lbs; loaded 85,000 lbs; maximum 94, 815 lbs
Dimensions:   wingspan 180 feet, 6 inches; length 92 feet, 4 inches; height 33 feet, 3.5 inches
Armament:   two 7.9-mm MG 17 machine-guns in upper fuselage; two 7.9-mm MG 17 machine-guns in lower fuselage; four 7.9-mm MG 17 machine-guns in forward dorsal positions; two 7.9-mm MG 17 machine-guns in rear dorsal installation; six 7.9-mm MG 17 machine-guns in lateral positions; two 7.9-mm MG 17 machine-guns in ventral installation; freight-load of 26,900 lbs or 100 men

Would make resupplying and crashing server due to mass paradrops easier eh?  :D

It would be nice if we could get an aircraft like this in a later version of AH2, vehicle drops would be useful!

Where would one go for flight performance info for these old planes?

Where does HT get is flight envelope data and information on the "Feel" of the craft?

If this plane was in AH right now, it would be the games biggest plane magnet because it is a big, slow target. There is no way you could sneak into a field and capture it with that behemoth, but carrying gvs would be intersting.

Does anyone know the  climbrate on that monster?

Title: The Biggest Benefit I can think of...
Post by: 2Hawks on August 03, 2003, 01:38:13 PM
would be to transport troops / GV's to a remote part of the Island with a Airfield we wanted and driving in.  Or making a drop just outside of a Strat Target and Pork it. Then just imagine the challenge of driving and parking your GV's in the thing. If the Pilot manevers too hard do the GV's inside roll and go boom? That would be a hell of a blast and a big responsibility on the pilot. What happens when the transport goes kaboom? Do GV Drivers go for a long drop? I can't think of more interesting target for gunnery practice than a Flak Panzer Plummeting to the earth.

The whole operation would be fraught with hazzard, but the game concept would bring a whole new dimension. Base resupply in a single or two drops...

The Stuka we have now probably doesn't have enough spit wads to shoot something that big down.

Many had MG 151/20 mm cannons, and MG 131 mg's, in adadtion to the ton of 7.9mm mg's.

Slow as hell.. i still want it though! an i attach a couple 262 engines on it? vroom!

PLSPLSPLSPLS make it so tanks have to drive into it, rather than just automatically be there.

Maybe you should read a book sometime, the me321 was the UNpowered glider that was the basis of the me323 4/6 engine heavy transport.

And in the unlikely case we will get the me323E-2, i surgest with have this loadout:

1 20mm MG 151 cannon in each of the two turrets (1 on each wing)
2 13mm MG 131 in the nose doors
And 5 more MG 131s in the beam positions and rear of the flight deck.

lol nice bait with armament;)

first you list data of me323D version then armament of me323E-2/WT wichone never carry any load;) And was rebuild  from serial plane only as prototype. Overall 201 where build  between 1942-1944 /all versions. This glider was build to transport troops and vehicycles up to 20 tons. NO paratroopers and haviest tank can be transport is pzwgIII or IV but not this version we have in AH.

really i not see this glider in AH till we have spown points
much more importand is JU52

The neat thing about this is that it would be perfect for resupplying broken fields, setting up forward air bases, bringing GVs to islands for attacks, and more.

Maybe we could give the Russian players a production version of this....LOL

http://www.ctrl-c.liu.se/misc/ram/kt.html

From the text:

Amazingly, this project advanced beyond paper and was flown in 1940.

The glider had an unorthodox control system: an inclination of the gun was slaved to the tail surface (pitch control) and rotation of the turret was used to change the roll. Prior to landing, a pilot/tankist would start the engine and speed up the caterpillar, so that KT-40 can land.

i just got the details from a website here (http://www.qt.org/worldwar/weapons/germany/luftwaffe/me323.html)

sorry i dont know everything about every model of every plane that flew in wwii like you.  the bait was very unintentional, and as u can see the bits i highlighted was the payload and troop carrying capacity which was the bit i was interested in.
