Has got to be the Spit I
Second place Me109F4
-
While the Spitfire and 109F are nice looking, in my opinion they aren't as attractive as the P-38.
-
Spitfire F.Mk XIVc
Agressive yet graceful.
-
Spit, without a doubt.
-
I would say the spit as well for its pure shape. But my heart says the P-47:D
-
The spitfires wings are hideous! P51B is prettiest ww2 plane.
-
FW-190As or Jugs when on the ground. Something about that wide gear, bulldog stance makes me like 'em.
-
51B aft fuselage looks way too much like a herring butt. Thank goodness the bubble canopies allowed the aft fuselage to be slimmed out with the 51D.
The Spit wings are hideously huge. Las and Yaks have ugly stubby wings, and Typhoon/Tempy chins are uglyness supreme.
The grumman "Cats" are like a fat barrel, and the Jug looks like a jug. The hog is not bad, but it is ugly blue.
..
190As aren't that bad, but the nose is a bit too short. The 109E is pretty good, but too square.
Basically, the winner to having good looks, is definately the 109G-10/K-4 and the Fw190D-9/-12 :D The different cowl shape gives the G-10/K-4 a sinister look, and the wing size is right, fuselage slender and nice, and good looking tail, too. The radials on the 190D almost made it look bad, but the overall proportion of the plane is in lovely condition . :D
ps) in that sense, the P-40B is pretty good, too. The P-38 is not bad also.. but them 38's are like the Siamese twins of the aeronautical world.
Edit:
ps2) woops, the 190D don't have no radials! Thank god!
-
the Corsair does it for me :D
-
LA-7 for sure :)
-
Bf109G6 - beautiful, agressive, menacing and evil looking thing with tons of character!
Bf109G2 - most elegant!
Oh and Griffon Spits are much better looking than Merlin spits!
-
No can do, 190 Dora, oh those lines and the promise she carries....
-
nothing's prettier than a hog.
-
Spitfires. Surprised you had to ask. :)
-
The Mosquito, no question.
-
A6M2.
-
I don't know about most beautiful, but this one isn't bad...

-
IMO the Mig-3 is one of those that count as most beautiful.
-
The "Muscle-bird" :D

-
Any clipped-wing bubble-top Griffon Spitfire.
-
The one squarely in your gunsight:).
-
Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat (operational, arrived in theater several days after VJ-day).
Grumman F7F-1 Tigercat (operational, never encountered enemy before VJ-day).
Yakovlev Yak-3
Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XII (limited production run)
My regards,
Widewing
-
Bf-109-G2
-
As much as I love flyin my 109G6 in AH. I think the most beautiful WW2 A/C is without a doubt the P-51D:D This plane looks like its going fast even when its standing still..... These two are my Favs Clarence "Bud" Anderson's and Chuck Yeager's Ride

-
Dora.
-
P-51D, and 2nd would be a F4U-1D
-
Above I stated that the Spit XIV (GRUNHERZ agrees with me about something:eek: ) was the best, but I have to say these are also very good looking fighters:
A6M5 (the exhaust ejector stubs give it that something that the A6M2 and A6M3 are missing).
Bf109F/G or K series
Fw190A series
Me410
Mosquito
P-38
P-51D
Yak-3 or 9

The Spitfire is undoubtedly the second prettiest plane, gorgeous from all angles.
But the most perfect design of all? The Bell P-39.

Have to say I have always admired its clean lines. Sure is a sweet looking ride.

Ah, 7 mean, nasty Spit XIIs!!! Sure wish we had this baby instead of the Spit XIV. I believe they were capable of damn near 400 mph at just 5k.
My regards,
Widewing
-
OK I give. The He-219 is very nice, but the Spit is the most beautiful WWII fighter.
-
Brewster
-
Spitfire. The most beautiful on the ground or in the air!
Mk I to Mk XXIV

Well duh, we all know its a lover... :D
-
I fight stuff with it. It's a fighter. ;p
-
I'm with Widewing.
Gotta go with the Spit XII. Only 100 built but what a kite. October 20, 1943 the Spit XII Wing out of Tangmere claimed 9 for nought after using their usual tactics which was to suck the 109s and 190s down to them, turning inside of them and clobbering em.

Awesome picture Ontos. I see that you live in Lexington (I'm in Louisville). Have you ever seen the P51 they keep at Staniford Field (Louisville International Airport)?
