A recent thread about Alabama's Governer and his tax plan prompted me to post this.
I wanted to know how many players are from or reside in Alabama. Why? Cuz I'm always looking for a reason to get out of the house! But seriously, a get together with folks who already know what grits and sweet tea are would be fun and another way to meet fellow addicts.
There are several things here that could prove entertaining while the wife and kids check out Visionland. Birminghams Southern Museum of Flight comes to mind for one. They have a few planes there;
Aero Commander 680
Aeronca K 1937
Aeronca Sedan on Floats
B-26 Invader
BD-4
BD-5B
BT-13B Valiant
Beagle B.206
CH-54B Skycrane Helicopter
Cherokee 140
Cumulus Glider
F-84F Thunderstreak
F-86F Sabre
Fokker D.VII replica
Glasaire
LNE-1 USN Glider
MiG-15
OH-6 Loach Helicopter
PL-4A
PT-19 Cornell
Piel-Emeraude
Piper J-3 Cub
Rotec-Rally Ultralight
Sonerai II-LT
Sport Fury
Starduster
Stinson 10A
Stinson SR-5
TG-4A (Civil L-K 10A)
T-33A Shooting Star
T-39D Sabreliner
UH~l Huey Helicopter
Vari-Viggen
Just south of Birmingham in the town of Pleasant Grove you'll find a new shooting range which caters to groups. Handguns and long guns are welcome.
There are also several lakes in the area along with 2 state parks.
Nothing planned yet, just tossing an idea out there.

I would love to make that if I could be in that neck of the woods. I doubt I will be able to be there in the next few months though due to my schedule. Maybe yall could send me 5 Lb's of the Jim Dandy variety out to me as a token? :D I was born and raised south of Montgomery.

My mother was raised here in Alabama, I on the other hand lived my first 18 years in Northern California. (YCHS '81) It was not until sometime later I discovered my aunt had been sending Jim Dandy grits to my mom. We often had them and cathead biscuits with molasses for breakfast but never once thought about where they came from. If I had an address I would gladly send a couple of bags that way because no one should have to settle for anything less then Jim Dandy. :D
As for places to meet fellow simmers, there's an airshow in Bessemer next month on the 13th and 14th, always a good show.
