My old puter MB burnt out so I bought an MSI K7n2G with Duel channel option for the memory that will arrive in a few days.
My old board supported pc2100 at 266 and I was using 2x 256 but want to add in 1 256 pc2700 rated at 333 mhz in the duel channel slot. The CPU I have is an AMD 2000+
XP home
AMD 2000+
MSI KzN2G with onboard video... I think up to 128 shared
-AGP 8x
-5.5 Channel Audio
-IEEE 1394
-Supports DDR 400 memory
-USB 2.0
-S-video and RCA out
-Nforce2 Chipset
Will this run properly or do i need to stick with PC2100 memory?
Thanks for any info,
ZX

It will just run at 266 MHz, but should work fine.

The memory will run at the slower of the two speeds. It would be best to stick with the PC2100.

Thanks guys,
I found an old thread written by Bloom in 2000 when he was just a quest that said the same thing about PC100 and 133.
Just wasn't sure it still applied.
BTW, it was strange seeing an old post like that about something so obsolite.
...
Looking at that thread again I see that everyone there was a quest. Many of the names are still here and posting every day hehe

I don't know how to make a link to that thread but you can find it by searching under mixing memory or by title "another Ram question"

I read somewhere that for certain boards (Asus A7V8X springs to mind) that if using two of the three memory slots, PC2700 memory was the way to go. However, if using the third memory slot, the slot 3 memory module would get downgraded to PC2100.
