Title: Skuzzy? VOX probs.
Post by: Rutilant on August 06, 2003, 06:42:06 PM
Well, i had no problem for my two weeks back in september.. When i came back during the free trial in March (and stayed)my VOX has been stuttering constantly, so it..

S-s-ou-n-n-d-s-s  l-l-ik-ik-e  th-i-i-s.

Also, if more than one person is talking at the same time, i'll get what the first person says, then his reply to what the next person says before i even hear what the next person says..

Guy 1: Hey. Where are you? Okay, be right there.

then i get from guy 2 AFTER guy 1 has said all that.

Guy 2:Hey! Over at A###. I'll wait for you.

My VOX also gets backed up with messages, they're out of synch with the actual time they're said.

Any ideas?

What kind of sound card?
Is the sound card sharing interrupts with any other device?
What kind of Internet connection do you have?
What is your pings like to the server?

Make sure you have the sound hardware acceleration set to 3/4 in DXDIAG.  Get the latest drivers from Creative Labs as well.  Just do not install the utilites they have bundled with the install, just install the drivers.

What is your bandwidth up and down on that DSL connection?

You might want to run some ping plots to the MA for about 5 minutes and see what they look like.

Do you have any anti-virus programs running when AH is running?
How about firewalls or routers?
How is the DSL modem connected to your comupter (USB or Ethernet)?

Where'd you get your drivers from Rut?  I put on the latest I could find from the creative site (SB Live! also) and the card stopped working.

What model were/are you looking for?  I thought you said you have an SBLive card?  I know the Creative site has drivers for that card.
Don't use the model number to get the drivers.  Just use the name of the card to get them.

Here is the link to the drivers on Creative's WEB site: W98SE drivers for SBLive! (http://www.americas.creative.com/support/files/download2.asp?centric=107&maincat=11&os=2%2C3&subcat=16)

Although it appears they have stopped updating the W98 drivers.   To be expected as MS will be dropping support for W98 soon as well.
