What is that some kind of high tech bacon cooker?
Bacon - The Other, Other, Other White Meat
-
Pacemaker. :)
-
You found a pacemaker in your bacon? What kind of bacon do they serve up there? :)

No, I'm gonna need one! Bacon is a FOOD GROUP as far as I'm concerned.

Rip the secret is in moderation.
I only eat bacon about twice a month.
The other 28 days are devoted to ribs, ham, kielbasa, bratwurst, brisket, sirloin, prime rib, etc. :)

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal
again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No!
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal!
Homer: Heh heh heh... ooh... yeah... right, Lisa.
A wonderful... magical animal.

NP TOB, glad to serve as your pork product reminder buddy. :)
-
mmmm....pork......
you forgot schnitzel funkypants. Nothing like some breaded and fried pork.
-
Yes those are great. They sell that on a sandwich at Indy.
Don't forget chile verde and carnitas and al pastor and barbacoa.
And of course
THE KING
KABANOSY!!!

Go here to order some excellent bacon and related products. Their beef jerky is out of this world.
http://www.robertsonhams.com/
Plus they serve mustard and bisquits....hehehe.
A finally have an Avatar :)
-
Beat it into a flat sheet then took bacon, put it on top of the sheet of pork with some spices. I then rolled it up and wrapped more bacon around it, and baked it for about 45 minutes.
Man that was some good eating!
-
I think one of my biggest surprises when I came over there to the Con was being offered bacon (or sausage) with the Belgian Waffle I had for breakfast a couple of times - and with Maple syrup? Weird, very weird..... :p

If it ain't pork, it ain't breakfast. :)
-
Flossy... dangit! Now I'm hungry!
Bacon - The other striped meat.
-
hungry doesn't even begin to cover it..
but more crispy than that picture please :)
and yeah.. bacon IS a food group.
-
Y'all just wait 'till you're officialy 'over the hill', that's when you'll pay for such a nasty habit that bacon consumption is.
This is one area where moderation in all things, especialy moderation, has a huge chance of putting you in an early grave.
This advice is from an ex-pork product lover who's prioritys have changed from gratification to longevity.
Oh, wait, some of you are diehard Republicans....ummmm....
nevermind

More crispy? I don't think it could have been! :) Maybe crispier than it looks....
-
The only thing I do in moderation is moderation. Some day I hope to quit it all together.
-
Must admit, I don't eat bacon very often, maybe once or twice a month, so I don't think I'm in any great danger. :) I mostly eat cereals for breakfast. :D

Bacon is vile and disgusting. That is why I always insist on wrapping it around a shrimp, a dove breast or even a jalapeno.
-
Bacon is better when its wrapped in bacon with black pepper pieces on it.
-
Beef Tenderloin wrapped in Peppered-bacon, slowly cooked until just pink inside over a nice hot Charcoal and Mesquite grill...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Breakfast alternative
Large Shredded Wheat, slice in half. Layer Swiss cheese and bacon and put the two halves together. Bake for about 15 minutes at 350F.
Remove from the oven, open the wheat sandwich and stuff in a peppered egg (overhard if you dunt like a mess). Add judicious amounts of salsa and bingo! You got a breakfast.

I dubbed this one the Hoffman Heart-stopper Special :D
(http://www.matthoffman.us/ff/cabin/29-01-jan-01/sandwich.jpg)

Unfortunately we had not lettuce, but that would have been a nice touch. I can't stand tomatos, unless they're ketchup or pizza sauce or tomato soup or...

Bacon makes everything better.
Bacon wrapped scallops.
Bacon wrapped filet mignon.
Bacon on burgers.
Bacon wrapped shrimp.
Bacon wrapped bass.
Bacon wrapped lamb shanks.
I'm willing to bet you could put bacon on a that crap they call "veggie burgers", and it'd actually taste like food!

Dune's Camp Breakfast:
- Take a package of bacon (if there's only 3 of you), rip the bacon apart with your hands and throw the pieces in a cast-iron skillet.
- Once the bacon is about 3/4 done, take it out and replace with cubed potatos. Cook those in the grease until about done.
- Add as many eggs as will fit and the pieces of bacon. Scramble.
- Cover the whole mess with shredded Colby-Jack or Pepper-Jack cheese.
Serve with Herdez salsa and a bloody mary or coffee with Blanton's bourbon.

Somolia is still fresh in our minds...you try to help the general population, and they shoot at you..

So...how is everyone's cholesterol ? I haven't this many "tilts" since I was at the arcade hehe

Hey you two, knock that off!!!! This is a thread about important things...like bacon.
No politics or crying over starving children and blaming it on big business or corrupt leaders who filled the void left by souless white colonial powers.
Bacon! As the dog in the Beggin Strips comercial says, "There's only one thing that smells like bacon and that's bacon!!!"
My dad wants to start his own business selling bacon-scented aromatherapy.
And for further recipes that are good for you:
In a heavy iron pot with a lid put two tablespoons of oil. I like olive oil. Heat it up good. Sear 2 to 2.5 pounds of lean meat until gray. Cut your meat into little chunks about the size of the end of your finger. You can use coarse ground meat but chunked is better. Any lean meat will do game meat is excelent. Pork doesn't work well. Too much fat.
When meat is seared turn down the heat and add one 8oz can of tomato sauce and three cans of water.
In a separate bowl mix;
1 tsp salt
1 Tbs dry minced garlic
3 Tbs dry minced onion
1 tsp oregano (use Mexican if you can get it)
3 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp Cayanne pepper.
7 Tbs Chili powder (this may be too hot for you try 6. Chili powder varies by brand as to heat. I use Rosarita. You will just have to try until you find a level you like)
Dump this into the simmering meat, stir it up, cover and simmer about an hour and a quarter or until tender. Stir it when you think about it.
Now mix 3 Tbs masa with enough warm water to make a thick flowable paste. Add this to the chili. Stir it up good. Simmer another 15 to 20 minutes and dish it up.

As usual I can be wrong but I do think that the Somalia event where the result of a cultural clash between the US and the natives warlords and perhaps a lack of experience in dealing with those warlords.
If ever you can find a translation of some Henri de Monfreid book you will soon notice how this region didn't change since the beginning of the 20th ... (in fact it didn't change during the last 1000 years ...)

Same here, Raub
My first year in the Air Guard, I was 19 years old and they forgot to inform us of cholesterol screenings the following day...so that night I sucked down a bacon pepperoni pizza and a few frosty foamies while out with the guys. Next day, they took blood (syrup? hehe)....few days later I'm called in to see the Comander and told I scores a 298 on my test. Thinking I almost had a perfect score, the Doc comes and explains to me what it all means. Opps!
Haven't had it checked in a while but I eat a lot smarter since then and exercise daily. My Mom's is fine, my Dad is on meds to keep his in check.
Since I inherited his hairline and everything else, I might be on the Zocor wagon too...won't know til I get screened

Tough question, for myself it was when I turned 55....started thinking a bit differently then about life, the end of life and how I can improve one and postpone the other. That's why I stated my priorities have changed from gratification to longevity.
So, it's realy what you think it is for yourself rather than what others think of you as being.
BTW, I'm 10 months shy of 60 but look like I'm younger than 50
Got all my hair that has just started getting a bit grey.
A BP of 115/70
Bad cholesrterol at 102
I run 3 miles in the wet sand 3x a week
I weigh the same as when I seperated from the Army in '72
Have my own teeth, but not all of them :)
And I'm detirmined to outlive everyone of you people....IRL that is.
-

Pulse is about 60 or so
dunno what my cholesterol is though
;)
