I get this error message every time. Btw operating system is 98SE

btw all other software seems to be working just fine.
scanned for virus' and found none.
anyhelp would be appreciated.

That .dll is used by Windows Media Player. (I'd guess Media Player 9.) I'd try reinstalling whatever version of Windows Media Player you've got.

No luck with that. Though WMP is working fine he (father) can watch all his movies. This error only happens when he tries to open "my computer" or open any shortcut to a folder he has on his desktop, everything else works as advertised. I confirmed this myself when I went over to his house to check on it.

Does that system have Windows Media Player 9 (the newest version) on it?
This looks to be a fairly common problem, and the solution is to uninstall media player 9.0 and reinstall an older version like 7.1.

I tried a standard un-install of wmp 9 then a re-install of the wmp that was on my fathers win98 cd wich did not work.
tomorrow I'll try the batch file from the link you posted and see what I get.
