Logged on 10:00pm CST...MA is dark
Went to CT....gettin dark...got to fly for an hour
Please Dale.
-
I second the motion...
-
Third it.
-
s'why I left tonight. But.. it's been brought up enough. PrimeTime NightTime is one of those "If HTC don't respond... that means they don't think anythings wrong" subjects.
-
Agree, when ya have limited time to play it ALWAYS seems to be dark when ya log in,an extended dusk/dawn would be better, night serves no real purpose.
-
Didn't HT say at one time there weren't going to add night to AH? Wonder what changed his mind.
ack-ack
-
Well atleast you dont have sun shining front of your comp when its night.
Anyway, get rid of night :/
-
night time would only be good if bomber icons were turned off during the period.. this would give you a window to have a successful night bomber mission...i say extend night and lessen the dim dusk dawn..only if bomber icon are off...other wise yes its a usless gimmick...:)
-
#9 ... "Just say No" to night in AH.
-
If we get a glaring sun you might be asking for the night back again.
lazs
-
I also vote no night, at least for US "prime time" when most of us get our short opportunity to play.
How about "no night" from 7PM Eastern to 1 AM Eastern. That way even the Left Coast gets to play without night during Prime Time.
HT says he gets "fewer complaints" when he leaves night in and more when he takes it out.
If you don't like night.... SPEAK UP!
-
I can deal with the sun....I beleive that was an issue that pilots had to deal with and even used to their advantage.
-
I hate the whole low light thing in AH I hate Dusk night and dawn.
I like the CT time setup it goes from sun about to set to sun just rising so there is always normal daylight operations for daylight fighters
keep the night in a separate arena for this rumored we love night crowd that never makes its presense know please.
-
night time dosnt even last that long though
-
HT pulled night from the MA at one time. There was an uproar from people that don't play the game anymore and HT put it back in.
It's a great effect that has no buisness in the MA.
MiniD
-
I could definetly live without the night in MA.
-
Things would be so easy if hitech really cared. A pop-up questionaire at log-on could clear things up within a few days.
I'd say keep night though ;)
-
yup night sux
-
I'm all for an MA where the sun never sets.
-
I like the night. I understand that some don't like it, but it is usually short-lived 15-30 minutes, and then there are hours of daylight. Sunscreen is recommended. :) I can't say that I haven't logged because of it, I have, but I think it is a necessary and very cool part of AH. Take away night? Then get rid of the tempest, ME262, tiger tank, tiffy, Spitfire, and perk points. That would be an even trade, IMHO.

i posted this a short while ago, an interesting read from a long time ago
here is what was said
quote:

Pirado remember Hitech wants night fighting and some planes did have radar.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure where you got the idea I want night fighting.
We tried it for a while . It only lasting about 10 mins out of 2 hours and almost everyone hated it. The only way i can see it's use is in a senerio some time.
HiTech
from a post way back on 9/22/1999
lol

I logged into the MA, sun setting that means hour or more of low light puke looking cant see anything but icons BS.
i logged off MA and logged into the CT where the sun was also setting and promptly logged off the CT too.
HTC has an element in their game that makes people not want to play it yet they insist on keeping it.
why?
-
If my tenure with HTC was a mile long, Id say I got about ten feet left to go and moving fast.
Kill the night.
Update AH1 with AT LEAST SOMETHING, ANYTHING... A NEW SHEEP FER FU*KSAKE.
Release AH2 day before tomorrow.
-
Just my lowly opinion but I "THINK" most folks, or a large majority of them adjust the gamma on the V-card and dispense with the worst of the "night effect".
Which is why I can't see why "Night" is so attractive an option. Not that I wouldn't log anyway... There are lots of other games to keep my interest during the 30-40 minutes (whatever it is) of Night. ...and I don't have to fiddle with my gamma.
I'm with..? (Toad?). Lose night between 7pm and 1am.
-
Lose the night...
SKurj
-
It's in a cycle and when the cycle hits primetime it goes on for a few days..
Turn on the light.
-
I still like the night...it's a nice change of pace from the daytime and I do like to dogfight in it.

Been goin on pretty regular the last couple weeks I believe. Seem's as thought the cycle favors prime time.
Just get friggin rid of it HT.
-
Cant be easy to be HTC :)
Dont like the night either but I guess its good for ground attacks.
My problem is that I cant do any gamma settings like most other caue my flatscreen dont handle it lol :D
-
ok this is going in the whine of the week award:) . very fine whine. why leave when MA get's dark? i stay and have all the fun of shooting down lancs and buffs.night=more perks. come on im a noob and you guys aren't. night time is fun. just fly around look for red dot once you see one sneak up behind him and kill him, easiest way to get perks in the game. you guys should have figured that out by now. btw i put big posterboard over my window that way i can see:cool: .

Night is the key to combat..

That's rich. The noob nominates Rude for Whine of the Week.
:D:D
-
I could definitely do with less night, shorter evenings and mornings as well.

Ahhh the Irony of it all
-
If you hate night that much, just turn up gamma. Colors do get a little bland but gamma tweaking negates the night effect.
-
what really sux is you can't post missions at night?
-
Rude - more Selective Realism™ on your wish list? ;)
-
Get rid of night in the MA. It has turned into a joke with all the people adjusting their monitors to minimise the effect, which defeats the whole purpose. We had guys on here with threads describing how to lighten their screens...even downloadable applications to assist in this endevour.
I see night..I log off.

Frame 4 of the Iceberg scenario is gonna be interesting then.......

Why frame 4? All 4 frames have 1 hour of night each.
-
I like the nights just as they are. (And, no, I don't futz with my gamma adjustment.)
I'm not advocating keeping them as they are if a majority doesn't agree, I could do without nights if that's the case. I'm just saying, it ain't unanimous.

LOL!
Flying day VFR fighters in major night actions? Who's talking selective here? It just didn't happen. Night ops were a tiny fraction of day ops and as the war progressed night fighters became increasinly more specialized aircraft.
Nope, when the sun went down, most day VFR aircraft were parked and maintenance was done on them.
Want that in the game?
-
Hehe - was just giving Rude a wind-up. :D
Certainly, there were night bombing raids - London - but I don't know if there was a fighter escort or whether we scrambled fighters in response - probably not. The Germans even dropped a bomb on my home town. It landed in the red light district - LOL! -true
-
Running high gamma accellerates tube decay.
-
Night flying used to piss me off & then I got off my lazy bellybutton and finally changed the gamma settings on my monitor. Now, night flying is interesting because I can see the other a/c just as if I were flying on a full-moon evening.
I suggest you guys figure out how to change your gamma settings!!!

You guys obviously haven't found the ultimate night fighter. I get a lot of kills in it when the sun goes down, and I don't even know how to mess with my monitor. My official nightfighter has a real nice gunsight that works well in the dark.
Get out of your Spitfire/LA-7/N1K2/P-51D and get into a real man's plane.
-
yes its to long:D
-
I for one really don't like nighttime. It's just silly to be flying around in VFR dayfighters, dogfighting at night.
What would be cool is if the nighttime effect blacked out icons as well. Then add some nightfighter version of the Mossie and 110 and allow these to see icons in their forward quarter within a certain distance. Setup some spotlights coming up from the cities, that searched for enemy bombers. Now that would make for an interesting night environment.

Aces High has a nightfighter with an illuminating gunsight. That, coupled with the Clipboard radar display, makes for a very effective nightfighter.
Hints: Its not a Mustang. Its not a Spitfire. Its not a N1k2. Its not an LA-7.

Turn off night, or at least turn off the orange soup that temporally brackets it.

To me, it is like driving a car, in the fog, into a setting sun that is just above the horizon. Sure you can "see the targets" (sort of), but it's hardly worth the effort.

I just grab a Lanc during night,,,but I could sure live without it.
The true nightfighter is the me 110 with lichtensteinradar und schraegemuzik:cool:

get rid of night.

That's a real man's plane, but that's not the best nightfighter on the block. But you're right - the one I'm thinking of does have air to ground capability.
Anyone care to make another guess?
-
extend the night in MA!
its great when the gang bangin MA masses stumble into CT when MA has a night mode on :)

O man, are you talking about the A-20??? lol.

I quite like a bit of night....... although I dont think I "black out" quite as much as some claim...........
About its constant occurance always at prime time......... I really cant see this............. its not a 24 hour clock, night time is actually shortened by many hours so the main arena clock is out of synch with real time (its day is much shorter).
Hence this co incidence of night with prime time would occur once every few days.........
Unless of course "prime time" is some period about 12 hours long and measured across all US time zones.

(off to work...will check-in later for reply. I'm curious about your plane preference. lol.

Night blows! There's no need for it. If you are going to turn up the Gama or the bright, why not just get rid of it.
You night time supporters don't do this do you? That proves the point you don't want it either.

Ok, hints so far:
(a) Its not a Mustang. Its not a Spitfire. Its not a N1k2. Its not an LA-7.
(b) Its not a Mosquito. Its not a P-38.
(c) Its not an A-20.
(d) Its carrier-qualified.
(e) Its not an F6.
(f) Its not a Wildcat.
and today's hint:
(g) Its not an A6M2.
:D

It's the Corsair with the light up sight plate. People didn't know this?
But night still isn't worth playing.
Night time is the right time to logout.
-
I think the Night / Dawn time is appropriate. The ONLY problem that I Have with it is that the Mission Editor doesn't work during that time. IMO - if you can up a mission at night for a dawn raid on a base, It would make the night more strategic cover.
IE - lancs timing out HQ attack so its night when over target :)
-
The best night fighter has to be the Hog with the light-up gun sight. IMHO, anyway.:D

The Truth Is Out There.
Now get out of your Spitfires and FM2s and go fly like a real man.
