i cant stand not being able to look around cockpit canopy bars n such in other sims now. its like my virtual head has been put in a vice.
so as much little stuff in AH I dont like I like the major stuff a lot and its better than the rest.

Yeah, viewing has always been Aces High's forte. And the smooth external and internal viewing in MS Flight Sim 2004, combined with the weather and scenery, is probably the initial strong point of that sim too.
It's all about conveying the immersion of flight on a little flat screen. How did anybody ever get the nerve to try that?

Yeah, I also find other sims,... claustrophobic

Downloaded Warbirds in case there was a need for an alt in the duels and I'll tell ya,I appreciate the ability to move the view alot now.It sure makes a diffrence.

The AH view system is excellent, but allows very generous views. Too generous (especially under Gs as do most games), but what the hell do I know?

I'm always coming back to this: Have you guys tried TrackIR?
AH does have the best... static view system out there... but
HAVE YOU TRIED TRACKIR?
Don't mean to nag...
-
And track IR is?

Oh, and it doesn't work with AH... yet.
I hope it will, eventually.

Agree Cit.
AH has spoiled me for all other sims.
Deleted targetware off my system till they get ingame joystick & keymapping.
View systems suck, terrain bites, FM is, well, strange to say the least.
Guess I'm stuck here for the duration.

Yep.. best view system around.

".. its like my virtual head has been put in a vice. "
I agree 100%. I cannot get into "flying" WW 1 sims like DoA or Target: Flanders. IMO if any aircombat sim genre badly needed such a feature it's one with WW 1 aircraft. WB's and WWIIO (well, there are more reasons to not enjoy WWIIO than just this one) feel prehistoric for not having such a novel feature. Sure they each have a couple of FOV settings but that isn't the same at all. So much energy put on eliminating a "six" or "linda Blair" view but nothing done about giving a player a really decent virtual pilot view.

I know its an outdated game, but a little while ago I tried EAW.
This game has alot of really good ideas. However I just couldnt deal with the cockpit views.
The Janes cockpit is better. But still nowhere near AH. Not sure but I think the views are preset with no real adjustment available.
My current system isnt powerfull enough to run Il2. Im upgrading soon though. I plan on trying it out
AH definatley has alot of great features.

TrackIR looks awesome, but how do you check your 'six'? Because you obviously cant look behind otherwise you cant see the screen, lol
-
AH has the best view system for the pilot in any desktop flightsim developed. Bar none. Other companies could learn a lot from the view features that we enjoy.
Well done HTC.
